Tony's never ending drive and ambition to the top was what led him to his demise, becoming a shell of his former self. And ironically, it was his conscience that screwed him over and ended up killing him. His moral rule of "no women, no kids", which is respectable, but means nothing to a major kingpin like Sosa
And the person who suffered the most in this movie is Tony's mom. She could live without Tony, but losing Gina due to Tony's influence was the exact thing she was trying to avoid. By the end, she's left with no kids

This was one of Pacino's best acting performances. The writer, Oliver Stone, would later become a famous director who kind of discovered Quentin Tarantino. Surprisingly, the actor who played the best friend did not become a big star, even though a lot of people expected him to become famous after this movie. So this movie is a cult classic and it deserves it status for the filming making and hard edge story telling.

When he first presented the screenplay the studio told Stone to tone down the violence. He told them about his interviews with dealers from Florida. He had toned it down considerably already. If he'd left in several events that really happened it would have been totally unbelievable for most people, and also likely would have gotten an X or NC-17 rating.

I think you will like Al Pacino in his role in the movie "Serpico" from 1973. It came just after "The Godfather", and Pacino plays the role of a GOOD cop by the name of Frank Serpico. In my opinion, it is Pacino's best acting role. Also in the movie is F. Murray Abraham, who played Omar (the guy hanged from the helicopter) in Scarface. Pacino uses a lot of past fellow actors in his movies. I think you will really like Serpico.

around the 3:06 mark of this reaction video.... during the time of the Cuban Refugee flooding wave in Florida the camps were stationed under the overpass highways in Miami that actually has happened a few times where Psychotic Cuban Criminals would start a riot in the camps and murder certain Cuban refugees who knew too much about Castro which caused them being marked for death by persons in the U.S government who were Castro sympathizers who gave out green cards as a payment if the Hit was completed

This is the best loved movies from real criminals in my country: Italy. Sicilian's mafia, Camorra (neapolitan mafia), 'ndrangheta...they all love this movie! A millionaire boss of the neapolitan mafia: Walter Schiavone, built his villa by making it exactly as the villa of tony montana appears in this movie (with the two huge staircases, the swimming pool, the huge door, the garden with another swimming pool and everything). No criminal in my Country, Italy, has idolatred movie such as "The godfather" or "goodfellas" or, even worst, "the sopranos": they look at them like ridicolous trash. But they ALL idolized, as I saw even with my own eyes when I was a junky in Scampia, Naples, Italy, from the top to the lower pusher of the criminal organization, Tony Montana and the movie scarface. That's something really interesting some criminal psychologist should look into to.

My FAVORITE scene is as they're leaving after the righteous revenge murder of his ex-boss and the crooked cop, and Manny says, almost as an afterthought, "what about Ernie...?" Dramaric moment...what ABOUT Ernie...are they gonna shoot him too...? And then...the perhaps unexpected twist of good-natured mercy from Tony. "You want a job, Ernie?..." "Sure, Tony..." "OK, you call me tomorrow..."
"HEY MAN, you got a job!!" ...and they continue to walk out in relaxed fashion...
"Thanks Tony"...followed by an understandably relieved swig of whiskey.
This is actually a pretty funny moment for the audience -- some perfectly placed comic relief. And we like Ernie! We're happy that he's gonna be okay, and we can expect to see him working with Tony. And we like Tony more because he was kind and reasonable and has shown mercy in a good-natured way.
    So, all-in-all, great movie moment!
