  • Welcome to Vanity Bitty!
Well I did it! Come see my new Promaster, I’m so in love. I can stand up! I can put in a swivel seat, all terrain tires, access the back from the front and vice versa! You KNOW I’m on cloud 9!

THANKYOU SO MUCH DAWN! I am looking for exactly what you did, and the info I needed and hunted for so hard....and you did all the leg work already! Im 5'4" and have a retired ambulance, which is also only 5'6" inside, but it's a 1 ton, and finding it way too big for me. THIS is exactly what I want! HINT: You can fit on the high speed ferry across Lake Michigan where motor homes never fit

Congratulations - the 118 low roof is a sweet vehicle. I've owned a 136" high roof & now the 159" window van. If I didn't need the space for my current needs, that 118" would be my go-to daily driver. The Promasters are great vehicles.

I can’t believe that I haven’t seen your channel before. You are great! And I too love the new Pro Masters. I believe the 2024 models will all have that ninth gear you’re referring to on the transmission. And yes, that is the air compressor that goes with the pro master. The pro master does not come with a spare tire so they give you that in case of a flat. If you get a flat, Put in a bottle of “fix a flat” and then fill the tire with air from your new air compressor. That will stop most leaks and get you down the road until you can get to the next tire shop to have it patched properly. Keep a bottle of fix a flat handy. . They are only about six dollars at Walmart and works great with the new air compressor.

I love my promaster. I do have a 3500 159 ext high roof. Mine is a class b aka built out by Winnebago. I think the promaster is Sooo easy. My van is my daily driver, mobile office, adventure van, and camper. For 13 years I drove a tiny Toyota Yaris and I think my promaster is just as easy. I do think your idea of getting a digital rear view mirror is key. I LOVE mine. It is a key reason. I feel so comfortable driving a large van. I can see behind me while driving. That with front wheel drive, a short nose, and a back up camera make this easy to drive. Congrats!

Congrats on the new rig! It’s amazing to me how much we think alike. I’ve started with a Honda Odyssey. And like you, I’m doing a no build starting with using rubber mats and a rug for the floor. I’ve chosen what I call square puzzle mats I found at HD. They provide a layer of insulation and will be layered to level the uneven floor. Also, one of my priorities is bringing my Liberty Trike. It’s going to be a squeeze. I’m beginning to see that I, too, will need to upgrade. Thanks for letting us into your decision making, concerns, and considerations in making your purchase. I love both though and I guess I’m one of the lucky ones. My first van I’ve had since 2019, no problems with either Max fan. My mini me van is a Dodge Ram Promaster City, I’ve only had a few months but no problems yet. 🤞🏼I know you’re going to have a much easier time with this build because you have more real estate to work with and you’ve already had experience with your first build.

  • @americanrambler4972

Congratulations on choosing and getting your van.
You do not have power mirrors. The switch for them would be on the drivers door in front of the window switches where that round blank is. They are an extra cost option.
Cruise control is also an option. If you have cruise control, it will be located on the steering wheel. There are several different configurations depending on the options you get.
The overhead shelf and under seat storage tray is part of a connivence package not installed in your van. That bag you got with the whatchamacallit in it is your flat repair kit. It includes the tire air compressor and some flat fix goop that pumps into your tire to fix a tire puncture. A tire jack and spare tire are options on your van.
The rear view mirror is not included on vans without windows.
There are a number of dealer accessories you can get and install on your van. I will post some of them following this reply. They can be pricey. But they are something to have a look at.

I'm thinking of getting this van too. Very nimble and I'm short enough to stand in it with a couple inches to spare after floor and ceiling. I heard someone on another channel who got this van different model year that they get 20-24 per gallon. That would be awesome. Also keep in mind that if you get a swivel seat your legs/feet may be dangling when you turn to face your living space because of that drop off behind the seats and the swivel seat is a little higher than the regular seat. Get yourself a footstool I guess. I'll be curious to see how you build it out. Congratulations!

I love that you just want it functional. That also saves a lot of money. Pay for things you don't know how to do and they will be done right. (ie, swivel seat) I have a thought regarding your kitchen counter from the other van. Would it be possible to just get a platform built that you have pull-out drawers in and then place your kitchen on top of that? No idea if that would work, but if it does it could save you a good chunk of money. Looking forward to seeing your setup.

When the builders put the fan in, make sure they put in wooden surround that wasn't put in the Transit.
The reason you had those rust flecks was because the installers did NOT clean up after themselves. Every other fan install video I've watched has STRESSED cleaning up the metal shavings from cutting into the van roof.

According to the Ram Canada website, all models have a 4.08 rear axel ratio. Which I find kind of odd.
Perhaps the 11th gear ratio is higher than the others? Higher gear, lower ratio I mean. I'll have to research this because i want one of these.
    Sweet van Btw.

I have a 2023 Promaster but what ever that is in the zip package you are asking about did not come with mine. Wish I could tell you what it is. A Ram dealership should be able to tell you what that is. Mine is the 2500, 159" wheelbase, 12 foot long cargo area. I'm happy with the turning radius as I can turn on a narrow country road without getting the wheels off the road a great distance. I don't do a U turn, hint. I'm excited for you and am looking forward to seeing your build out. Maybe we will meet on the road in the winter of 2023-24.

i have the 2020 118" and I love it except the fuel mileage is very low. I've only averaged about 16 MPG on freeway. The fuel computer gauge is not accurate nor is the range indicator at all. I don't trust the remaining range readout and always fill the tank before it gets to 1/4 tank, minimum. I always check fill up to fill up to see my actual MPG and it never agrees with the computer. Manual method is always accurate. The shorter van is a dream to drive as the large mirrors give total command of the road. It's not easy to back up with the tiny rear view camera display. That's another shortcoming of the van, because it is a hefty vehicle. I always try to avoid parallel parking, for sure. Maybe the newer vans have better mileage but I only know mine. I got the Bed Rug and it's totally worth it, it's cushioned and foam. I also ordered the Weather Tech floor mats which are essential. I have the C.R. Laurence 15x30 sunroof that fits perfectly in the metal stamped roof directly behind the seats. It has a removable glass so it gives you infinite room to stand up in the back. I only crouch and I don't mind it at all. The 118 lowroof is much easier to drive and it looks fantastic. I installed two Werner 6-8 ft adjustable scaffolds as my bed platform which fits perfectly in back and are held down with wing nuts so you can remove them to haul stuff. The platform also makes it great to haul stuff on top of them and use straps to lash cargo down. You just need to install two metal angle pieces on either side to mount the platform. I think my platform system is the best I've seen because again it's easily removable with just wing nuts. I also bought the Alurack roof rack which makes hauling my canoe and kayak a breeze. The van has 6 roof pegs builtin where the Alurack mounts so no drilling required. It's expensive, to be sure, but it's the best roof rack out there and relatively light. I paid $1200 for mine but now it's $1500. Also, I've heard CR Laurence doesn't make the sunroof anymore. A sunroof is much better than a fan. I use a DeWalt battery powered fan to exhaust air through the sunroof, but I didn't have to do any wiring either which a roof fan requires. I can also climb up to my roof rack from inside the vehicle with my ladder. Check out my van by searching for Promaster Tank Commander on CZcams. I keep my van modular for camping and easily adjustable for hauling which is what a van is made for.

      @VanityBitty  Před rokem +1

I’m 5’5.5” but I think I’ve shrunk or just have horrible posture because I have several inches to spare when in the van. As for the side door, I can’t get in it even with a step stool because there is no grab handle. I did put a metal carbeaner, loops thru some holes at the top so I can sometimes. I’m getting running boards put on in a few days, which should help.
