What I like best about this character is that he serves no purpose except inserting "sea talk" into the show, which is exactly what the writers intended for him
I wouldn’t be surprised if he came about because the actors were messing around, Hank Azaria busted out a Robert Newton impression and things snowballed from there!

Missed the best one. When Flanders created the religious theme park. On the opening day, everyone from town went to the park. Everything about it was terrible. As the townspeople were leaving the park, they were complaining loudly about how bad it was. As the Sea Captain left, he said "Yar, she blows".
Isn’t that the one we’re everyone starts getting religious visions but turns out they were all just high of gas
