Battery operated not electric where is the CORD 😂😂😂😂😂
lol....well.....maybe our understanding of electric is different bhahaha
What kind of power do you think a battery is?
What many don't realize is that electric motors are in many ways superior to gas engines, including raw power. The real issue in agriculture is not power or performance, but hours you can operate between charging and how long it takes to charge. For many farms, especially small farms, the electric tractors on the market or soon to be on the market are perfect for their needs.
But if I were a corn farmer in Iowa with acres as far as the eye can see, and a need to harvest under a time crunch, electric tractors probably aren't a good choice for that job.
Even on those big farms there are jobs where big tractors are overkill and although electric won't do everything they need, it might make sense for some of their needs. And might reduce operating costs significantly.
@@floridacoder It was suggested that haulage trucks use slide in replacement batteries so they could run 24/7, maybe there's a case for some harvesting equipment to use that idea too.
Certainly farmers have the land for solar arrays, so they are well placed to use electric machines
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer It's not electric, it's battery powered. Electric does not power it on it's own like an appliance in your house. A battery stores the electric. It is battery operated.
That electric zero turn looks awesome. I’d love to have one on my horse farm. No more running out for gas can refills, quieter, and much less maintenance than my gas zero turn.
I was able to test one of the electric zeros for a while. Super quiet and great cut. It will sidehill just as good as a top of the line groundsmaster 7210 with a yanmar diesel that I currently run. That’s all you need to know about the future of land care. Toro needs to make one with a 72” deck asap.
Looks like Uncle Ian is coming to visit you and bring some rain and wind your way. Batten down the hatches. Thanks for the video.
I have an Ego electric ride mower that works similar to the Toro one.The Ego uses 4-6 56V 10AH batteries.42" cut. Also have the 21" Ego electric walk mower.Like these!
if you strap a generator to the back of it I bet it would run even longer
That 1965 small two front reel bat wing was really cool.
That sit down ride on mower electric needs a rear discharge option for schools hospitals ,cemeteries ,residential with mulch beds and every other lawn!!!
I'm certain you can get it with rear discharge my friend
thanks for the video and information. have a great day.
Hey Josh, looks like the little woman is back. Keep us updated,we miss her in the videos!
"No fuel required", what do you call batteries and electricity? My son has owned several different mowers and is now back to gas mowers for good for various reasons.
Hey Josh thank you for the video I enjoyed it catch that chipmunk woo
Very cool. It'd be great to have that for the property rather than the gas one. For the areas around the house, even better to have one of those robot mowers. Maybe someday. :)
Cost of battery replacement if still available after 3 yrs ? We will see
Looks like you had an awesome time out there
I don't want to be tied into OEM battery packs, there are plenty of fairly standard 48v battery units that could have been used and would be easily replaceable in 5-10-15 years.
The idea of 'multi tool/one battery' only really applies when using known brand tool makers, not so much a lawnmower manufacturer who rebrands some electric clippers to build out a range.
This might be less of a issue for a Californian lawn business though
what's inside an OEM Battery pack...odds are a commercially available battery that can easily be replaced my friend
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer I've got a bunch of 1st Gen electric tools where the OEM is long gone, never mind the replacement batteries, that's all just landfill now. Even with say Makita they have multiple connector interfaces (even for the same voltage), the plus side of Makita is that you can get cloned packs because LXT is so popular, and cloned modules are also available. There is nothing out there for Toro atm.
Secondarily, you are paying extra for that format R&D, moulding, engineering and distribution, whereas a standard gazillion Ah 48v Lifepo4 is available anywhere.
This should be no different to changing a car battery, all the applicable marine R&D has been done, the only reason for OEM batteries is that they want to lock you in to milk you. Imagine if Ford locked you into a 9v triangle shaped car battery?
It should be even less complicated than car batteries, for my car I had a choice of generic makers but I had to match the internal technology and terminal. Toro went to a lot of pointless effort developing a 20kWh hypercell, when they could have just provided an empty box and two clamp leads for a standard off the shelf marine Lifepo4.
Cool machine!
Was hear
Wooooo!
When you took off in the master 2000, my three year said "Weeeeee!"
lol too funny!
I think that for jobs on the farm where you aren't using a tractor as a "tractor" meaning a high torque traction machine that pulls heavy loads or moves alot of dirt, electric is the way to go. So low till, spraying, and mowing is the sweet spot. Use the gas guzzler for plowing and harvesting where you need that power. Of course electric brings power also, but with a sacrifice wit runtime.
I would like to see a hybrid plugin-electric tractor built so you get a good mix of fuel efficiency and endurance.
Cool mowers Josh
i got to tighten my belt so i can afford one 😂😂😂
Hello from Minnesota!
Josh, Nice video, they need to make replacement batteries for like 10 tens years. A friend of mine bought battery lawn mower, battery last 3 years can't find new battery any were. Had to go buy a gas mower.
Yep, this is a relevant issue long term, lawnmowers may last a decade or more.
Your friend might have been able to bypass the battery with a retrofit though
Just curious about the Toro spreader sprayer? They had those out for years, so is that a new redesigned spreader sprayer coming out soon?
yeppers
I just happened to stumble onto your channel I like your content
welcome to the channel brotha!
Manly Tools.. 😎👍
I love the decrease in frequency of maintenance with electrical things and love the decrease in noise but our grid is not going to be able to handle a drastic increase in electric vehicles and mowers when they are cracking down on the fossil fuel industry.
Agree the expectations of this administration is outrageous… electric is not the future. Sure it’ll be a part of it but full electric is not the answer
Can you back up that statement with facts and figures.
@@duett445 yes…California was literally limiting power usage due to shortages…the grid is not ready for all this bs
It will work when they start turning over a lot of unused land for solar panels, but both sides were useless when it came to incentivising companies to build panels in the US.
Josh needs some solar really but it's a massive investment.
Also it's going to take decades to build this out and phase out old equipment, this needs a solid plan, not Biden's limp equity nonsense
Vancouver city in BC is planning on replacing 50,000 street lights to LED over the next 5 years. That Saving in energy will more than cover for the increased demand of electric cars.
So cool to see you iny neighbor hood. If you go up to mora mn let me know would be nice to meet you
When you say "jerky" I assume you meant has torque. Because it has power. Each hydraulic pump can produce a ton of torque depending on the model. I assume that doesn't jerk because of preset settings preventing that. Since electric has so much "power" it would have to.
There making all that stuff for the California market. Will be awhile till folks are useing those here in the south...unless it's some exclusive subdivision with an HOA that limits to battery only OPE.
They may be ok for something, don’t thank they will hold up, On lots of farm land . Just guessing the Auto battery they say 15000 to 20,000, don’t thank so. Lawnmower battery 4 or 5 hundred dollars. NO way.
can you please make a video of the Toro UTV'S?
could be this is in the works now buddy!!!
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer okay awesome thank you very much!
I don’t see the channel links for the guests in the video
👍
I have watched Blades of Grass before!
My Toro's not jerky probably just the operator
So, If a commercial lawn business operator goes electric, how does he mow all day long? Does he carry a big gas generator to charge the equipment????
Man I like your channel a lot I just wish you could quit saying awesome and critter so much.
Impressive! Sorry if I missed it but how much will this roughly cost?
Yep, I miss when Josh used to mention the price of everything during a review, that was really useful. Maybe he just didn't know on the day?
I think the top one is around 33K? And there are 17 states signing up those zero emission things. It's going to get expensive to get your lawn/hedge cut in the future...
@@____________________________.x Sheez... No the price of electric lawn mowers will go down naturally as it starts to sell to consumers etc. I don't think there's going to be many customers for lawn companies that will say hey yeah I'll pay you more money since you're using a zero emission lawn mower.
Glad to see things go electric. Toro makes so much garbage though.
Tesla Toro
When trimming grass or hedges the last thing I want is to carry batteries on my back. The electric vehicle and equipment revolution is a sham.
I'd imagine that folks back in the 1800s said the same thing about the automobile. Battery powered tools are here to stay buddy...hope you get to try some soon
$$$ mower , test one a last year
I love my toro GAS powered mowers. Furthermore I'm really close to the power industry folks. Without getting political bc I don't care to, but what I will say is this and I don't hear any of it mentioned in this thread is our power grid. Yeh these mowers may look, sound, drive so sweet but if you don't have a power grid to sustain all the kilowatts needed to drive all this GREEN ENERGY, battery powered, electric driven or whatever you wanna call it, all this stuff is absolutely irrelevant. This new green deal stuff being sold to the people is nothing but a farce folks. Here let's just use fl for example currently, millions and millions are currently without power from a natural disaster, how they gonna charge their cars, toro mowers, weedeaters etc? It ain't happening folks. Our power grid will dump in the bed b4 it does. It's not even mathematically possible. And even if it did come to fruition it won't be in our lifetime, they'd have to transform every single plant in the country or better yet build build build build and build some more new ones to even get close to the country running off electric. Then goes all the farting cows, we can't have those either bc they inhibit the progression of this laughable idea. The people selling this to the people, half of them don't even know how the grid works to begin with, but they wanna tell us how it all us gonna be so great as they fly across the globe on their private jet. Yeh yeh whatever. Just my 2 cents for what its worth. But as I said b4 I'm very close to the power industry of which pretty high up let's just say in the industry and folks I'm here to tell ya, save your time and money and buy something that's gonna work and be around a minute
my friend....there's always a way to argue for or against any gas or battery powered equipment....the "grid argument" is one of those. Remember that factories and homes are now using more efficient technology than every before. Battery technology is rapidly improving and these machines charge during the night when the grid is less stressed in most cases. The first automobiles were electric...and we're developing better tech as time goes on. I see this as the future...and very innovative. As for farting cows...boy it sure would be nice if we could harness that power huh lol
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer so are we limiting folks to only charging electric machines, equipment, cars etc to the evening times? So as for cloudy days, charging off solar, not gonna work to well buddy. I'm all for something that benefits society, but one thing is for certain you won't control mother nature. And as for in the event of natural disaster, itll be mass chaos bro. These conversations need to be had b4 all this is implemented, and all this money keeps being spent but it hasn't been. It's gonnabe bad bro, really bad. Do you know where all the manganese and cobalt comes from to out into these batteries? Where will all these batteries be disposed when they go bad? Wayyyy more needs to be talked about. But no it's not its just being forced on our economic system and the people and as I mentioned b4 I'm very close to the power industry and what is being sold to the people (this big idea) is gonna fall flat on its brother. As we're seeing in California currently
This has to be the third or fourth review of the new battery powered equipment. Not one person is mentioning what it's going to cost. There's got to be some ballpark figure that could be shared.
I would like to know what is the cost of the machine with the batteries and charger and what would it cost to buy more batteries.
I could not even think what something like this is going to go for. I also cannot see these type of machines holding up to heavy everyday use.
Let's face it batteries and electric motors don't have reputations of lasting very long especially with heavy use.
I did enjoy the video don't get me wrong I enjoy seeing the new things I just think if you're going to introduce new product here should be a price point given.
get on that google machine buddy...you'll find something
Many are usually around $5,000
Be very cautious of the lithium battery and charger. Lithium burns really hot in the presence of water.
Toro is overpriced junk. Many other better brands like Kubota, John Deere, Ferris etc... Stay away from anything that is a homeowner version Zero Turn.
You're wrong Josh about them not requiring maintenance they just don't require it when when like a gas motor does but when they do require it it's more costly than a gas engine those battery packs are not cheap and if 1 bad 1 cell of those batteries go out it destroys the rest of the battery they won't charge the right way they won't discharge the right way it's the right way people are talking about these electric vehicles and electric battery powered stuff and they're not researching it A vehicle just to say electric vehicle in the Winter time does not act like electric vehicle dur in the summer OK and if you're going places in the Winter You're going to require heat and the summer time you're going to require air conditioning OK you late that's quite ethics how they discharge that affects their Mileage
everything mechanical will require some sort of maintenance for sure
When they made things to work long term now no matter the make its all trash
Hard pass...once they stop mining Lithium with little kids maybe.
Toro is junk and didn’t see any grass cut.
Sorry to be the briar in the bunch. But I find if fascinating how everyone is so into the electric vehicle/equipment revolution. To save the environment!
Though 61% of all electric in the US is generated by burning fossil fuels!
Only 20% of the electricity generated in the US is done with renewable resources! Not to mention the increased cost of the initial purchase and battery replacement down the road. Also the contamination generated by disposing of all the lithium batteries once their life cycle is done. No offense but it just shows the decline in our societies average intelligence. Also how easy it is to brainwash people into thinking that they are doing their part to save the world by going all electric. It's nothing but an agenda! Electric mowers/trimmers have been around for decades. But now that they are battery powered they are miraculously going the save the world! It is a shame that the lack of common sense is the norm in our country now!
my friend...this isn't a political agenda thing.....I'm just showing ya some awesome electric technology. I agree with ya that the waste must be disposed of properly.....I don't think they are gonna save the world...but I do think that we're getting better and better battery technology and as time goes on this will be much more affordable.. Every spring the city curbs are littered with mowers and trimmers that "won't start" due to our new "clean ethanol" fuels. For a 65 year old lady with shoulder problems....a lightweight electric tool is often a better option...so is an electric mower for those who don't have the strength to start or maintain a gas mower. It's not a common sense thing my brotha..it's a convenience thing. I totally understand your argument against electric/battery equipment....but whether ya like it or not the technology is improving and the waste recycling is also improving. Keep your mind open buddy...you may wanna try one sometime. I'm sure you probably use battery powered drills already...in 1985 that was unheard of right?
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer I do run electric drills/other hand held tools. Which are convenient don't get me wrong. My issue is the whole "Electric Vehicles/Equipment will save our planet" agenda. Nothing against your channel. I know as a content creator your just showcasing the latest & greatest.
The point you made about the elderly not wanting to deal with engines that don't start is legit although most of the elderly I know don't do their own maintenance. They either live in an assisted living environment or pay someone to maintain their property.
My issue is with the whole "Electric Will Save the World(Environment)" movement that has inspired all these new products.
Most people just jump on the band wagon without education.
All i can say is Toro is not MTD. I will take my Honda self propelled mower over them all.
as far as I know honda doesn't make a zero turn my friend...Toro owns numerous companies.....google it my friend
I will be getting an electric zero turn…..NEVER!
All due respect, but NO THANKS
