i think there are many reasons of inaccurate calculation by that scientist,
    1. Sun light is not always perfectly perpendicular due to atmosphere and many other factors
    2. the 800 km distance is also an estimate
    3. earth is not perfectly specherical thus assuming it to be a 360 degree with same radius is "slightly" false
But I think he got very accurate despite these points

Earth is not completely spherical but is is slightly pressed from north and south pole ( its shape is called geoid ). But Eratosthenes assumed that the Earth is spherical and therefore his answer had some error. And also the Earth's surface is not smooth , it is irregular. Hence the slight error in his answer will be for this reason also.

According to me, the scientist assumed the Earth to be perfectly round i.e sphere. However, it is a known fact that Earth has Geoid shape i.e it is not a perfect sphere, this could be a reason why his calculation went a bit inaccurate. Still, the fact that he went so far at that point of time was remarkable.

Eratosthenes' calculation had some inaccuracy due to several factors:
    1. Spherical Earth Assumption: He assumed Earth to be a perfect sphere, while it's actually an oblate spheroid. This introduced a slight error because the Earth's shape deviates from a perfect sphere.
    2. Sun's Rays Parallelism: Eratosthenes assumed that the Sun's rays were perfectly parallel, but in reality, the Sun is not infinitely far away, leading to a divergence in the rays. This divergence contributed to the margin of error.
    3. Distance Measurement Precision: The distance between Alexandria and Syene was estimated, and any imprecision in this measurement affected the accuracy of the overall calculation.
    4. Local Irregularities: Variations in local geography and topography could have influenced the accuracy of the measurements, introducing some error into the calculation.
    5. Rounding of Angle: Eratosthenes rounded the angle to 7.2 degrees, introducing a small error into the trigonometric calculations.
These factors collectively contributed to the inaccuracy in Eratosthenes' calculation of the Earth's radius. Despite these limitations, his method was a remarkable and pioneering effort in ancient scientific inquiry.

    ERATOSTHENES's ERROR:
Although the structures seem to be having no shadows, it can't be concluded that the Sun was on a Right Angle to the Earth. The shadows were just too less to be noticeable. Suns rays are directly perpendicular to earth on the Tropic of Cancer latitude. But Syene City where Eratosthenes stood, is somewhere on the north of Tropic of Cancer. Although he was very close but wasn't exactly where he intended. And a genius like him obviously would have known this. So, this wasn't exactly an error, it was an estimation.

    14:15 THE ANSWER IS ⬇️
I think the wrong assumption is-
    1) Eratosthenes thought that the sunlight is accurately perpendicular on SYENE .But he don't know that the Earth 🌎 is tilted 23.5 degrees along its axis
    2) And also the art is not correctly circled... it's also a assumption
For this reasons his calculation is 99.9% correct ...but not accurate

    I think
Distance between Alexandria to syene was 801.4 km not 800km
    Then
    801.4 × 360÷7.2 = 40070 km
Which is real circumference of earth.
