So awesome to see the #3 Honda RC51 - the same bike that Joey Dunlop won the Isle of Man race on. That bike is the only V-Twin to ever win the Isle of Man Senior TT race. It also won the 24 Hours of Le Mans. A truly awesome machine. Of course I am a bit biased.... I owned a 2000 RC51 and now I own a 2003 RC51. Amazing machines with incredible sound.
Noticed? The Honda RC166 revs up to 18'000 RPM! And that was fuckin' 1966!!! Amazing! Btw the 2 best Bike sounds I've ever listened was the Laverda 750 SF and the legendary Benelli six. Awesome sounds!
For me it was Haga's R7 at Laguna Seca in the early 2000's. While just a standard inline four, he was riding the absolute piss out of it, pulling several thousand more RPMS than any of the other inlines, trying to catch the V-twins on a tight course that favored them. In the end, an insane pass on the corkscrew worked. Also, the 3-cylinder Benelli was impossible to miss. I believe it was Peter Goddard riding back then.
Brilliant and so glad you had a stroker in the line up, I can't really fault the list but a couple of golden oldies worthy of mention are Kawasakis 750 stroker triple of the 1970s and the "Slippery Sam" Triumph Trident 750 triple of the early 70s.

I haven't heard of a lot of these, cool stuff. It's your list but if I was gonna make one I'd have to include the older Ducatis like the 748 and 996 from The Matrix Reloaded freeway chase, the MV Augusta from i, robot, Suzuki SV650 and the R1 ; )
chainsawbob nichols seems like the older the bike the better the sound. Compare a early 90s 250 ninja to a modern 250 ninja and the one from the 90s will absolutely scream in comparison. Not to mention the Rev limiters on late models etc.
He's right, we made a mistake creating the video and it's actually Gilles Coulange's RG500 (with lots of modifications!) Gilles had to retire from racing after crashing it and sustaining serious head injuries
All great sounding bikes and I totally agree with what is No1, but for me two glaring omissions, BSA/Triumph Triples and the Norton Manx 500 or Matchless G50
#2 is not an RD500, it´s Guy Coulanges bike which started it´s life as a Suzuki RG 500, or at least the engine did. It´s an amazing build, but it´s a square 4 construction with 2 counter rotating cranks, different to the RD500 V4 construction.
The Kawasaki ZX-RR reminds me, the most, of how the Mazda 787B sounds. I'd love to hear that bike going down the 2 long back stretches at Le Mans to hear it reverb off the surroundings. The other bikes had unique sounds, but I didn't really like most of how they sounded. the Norton, RC166 and the ZX-RR had honest good sounding notes. The others were just throat monsters. Not really a "good" sound, but a recognizable sound I guess. But that's my opinion. I love F1 sounding engines.
I'd order these 10 bikes VERY differently... 10 - Honda VTR1000SPW (a Ducati of the same era sounds A LOT better) 9 - Suzuki GSV-R (Suzuki MotoGp bikes always sounded like crap, the 2002 one was horrible to hear) 8 - Britten V1000 (again, Ducatis sound better) 7 - Yamaha R1 - GTM94 team (not that special) 6 - Yamaha YZR500 (I honestly don't think that's a RD500, looks a lot newer) 5 - Honda RC211V (this video makes it sound worse than it is) 4 - Norton NRV588 (rotary, DUH) 3 - Kawasaki ZX-RR (4 cylinders never sounded better) 2 - Aprilia RS3 Cube (if only this bike had been faster) 1 - Honda RC166 (yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes)
+Diego Ruiz I have heard both the Britten and Ducati passing me on the track and there is no way the ducati sounds better. Still bloody a sweet sound though.

MOTO GUZZI V8..CBX1000..Z1300..KTM 1290..996..MV500/3..COMMANDO...there is lots of epic sounding bikes,the ducatis always had a good sound,even some of the small 250 strokers were nice on full wack,the Aprilia rs 250 or the honda rs 250 were good with proper cans, the old gsxr 1127 with the old yoshi race system was good,even the old Daytona with good system was nice, old z900 with open kerkers(mad max!!)...sound is subjective but for me best sound is my cub 50 sneaking off to the pub without the wife knowing come home hearing the worst sound ever.
