Well if it makes you feel any better the comics tied up the story by having michonne reunite with one her daughters at the community known as the commonwealth.
I think this story is to fill in the time when Michonne disappeared in the comics.
She won't be able to stop running without, being at peace with her decisions.
I think they did it that way to make her have something to live for. She's surviving to seek out the truth, of what happen to her daughters.

This is getting deep with Michonne, because I hardly understand her, both comics and onscreen. So this will definitely shed some good light on who Michonne really is.

This game evolves so much with the choices you make. I played half the game without the boyfriend, because I did not stop him to help with the escape. I killed Randall, and a lot of the dialogue was different especially when negotiating with Norma. If you ever wonder how your life could have ended up, because of a major decision you had to make, this game gives you an idea of what alternatives you could have found yourself in
FYI, Paige is voiced by Brina Palencia whose done a lot of anime voice work like Tokyo Ghoul, Durarara, Fairy Tail, Romeo X Juliet, Tales of Berseria, Black Butler and a few others.
