    G'day Doc, That's an excellent piece of surface finishing resulting in a 'well worn' buccaneer in, I believe, the FAA's old livery. I'm envious as at my age most 1/72 aircraft, like the small fighters, etc. are too fiddly for my eyesight and sometimes shaky old fingers. Of course, doing 1/32 aircraft models comes with their own set of challenges.
    Now, I'm ex-RAAF but I do specialise in military aircraft.
    I can't recall in any of my research seeing naval attack fighters being stowed either on deck or in the hangar deck with ordinance still attached to folded wings. Not even just prior to take-off, as the ordinance personnel can only arm the aircraft with the wings locked in the flight configuration.
    It's a small point and would probably only be picked up if submitted in competition. Overall, your Buccaneer is certainly up to competition standard. Apart from the ordinance; it has the authentic look of an aircraft that has really clocked up the hours. Apart from public demonstration aircraft and recreating certain museum airframes, I never finish off a model as if it's just rolled out of the factory. These, generally, look too much like 'toys'.
    I've just done the FAA Vampire LZ551/G which was the first jet in the world to land on a carrier; flown by the late, great, Captain Eric 'Winkle' Brown RN, (when he was a Lt.Cmdr.). That Vampire was, correctly, saved and is on show at a museum in the UK. So, I modelled it as it appears today, in pristine condition.
    Job well done, Doc! Cheers, Bill H. Tasmania

    A great build as always!Year's ago I have build this fantastic aircraft in 72nd scale from Airfix,but it was the 70's old mold and it was the only Bucc in the market,it was a very good model at that time,but now looking to this new tooling Buccaneer I can see clearly the deference between them.Well done and keep going building model's because you gave me so much motivation to continue in this fantastic hobby that we love so much

    Lovely build. One of the best Buc builds out there. I was interested in the way you go straight from 220 to 1000 grit sandpaper around the canopy. Do you also use intermediate grits between 220 and 1000 or do you find that they alone will get the job done and remove all scratches? Thanks!

    • @doctormig2709
      @doctormig2709  Před 4 lety +2

      Thank you :) I am using only 220 for rough sanding and 1000 for the finer.If needed which was not the case with this build i use 1500 and 3000.But that is in rare ocasions.

    Another great build sir, if memory serves me correctly the British Air Force them these over and some were in the green/grey scheme, any thoughts of doing this scheme in the future? Keep safe and well, best regrds to you and your family and friends, Happy modelling.

      Thank you.I plan on doing a RAF camo one and also a southafrican one.When I get to buy the models plus the decals for them.The model is quite expencive for a 72 scale kit so I think it will be a while before I do it.Thanks again and stay safe.

    • @doctormig2709
      @doctormig2709  Před 4 lety +2

      Thank you Roger.My homemade wash is basicly water with some water based ink and a drop or two of liquid soap.Quite an easy thing to do and lasts for years depending om the amount you initialy mix.You can also thin it down or add more ink to make it more or less pronounced.

    • @doctormig2709
      @doctormig2709  Před 4 lety +1

      Np Pablo I am glad I could be of help.I spray with the lowest pressure possible.0.2bar to 0.5bar.It all depends on the paint I am using and the thinckness of it.That determines the final effect I can achieve with it.
