We got off the tourist trails in Vietnam after making it to Hanoi. We wanted to see something more real, some place more raw and truly Vietnamese. And then we learnt about Mai Chau. So we packed up our backpacks and left the Hostel in Hanoi where we'd camped for a week. Took a three hour public bus from My Dinh Bus Station in Hanoi to get to the good old town of Mai Chau to experience the village life of Vietnamese farmers! 🤠
We stayed at the Truong Huy Guesthouse in one of the villages around Mai Chau town. Huy, the host, and his family were very welcoming and warm and made us feel very comfortable in his humble home. And later that night, he cooked a delicious vegetarian meal for us in traditional Vietnamese style! 😋
