“Nature is metal” should be your new merch lol and also I think that caterpillar 🐛 is our new mascot Great haul!
I agree! The caterpillar is our mascot ahaha :)
I need a “nature is metal” t shirt
My Mexican Fencepost is at least 12' tall. They are very fast and I've seen growth of 3-4' in one season if watered. The second mystery looks like a Mammilaria. Perhaps M. muehlenfordtii, but Bach's has so many plants they fail to identify. It's pretty common in Tucson for nurseries to fail to identify plants they have for sale. If you want to collect Ocotillo, B&B Cactus Farm offers a pink flowered version. The typical is orange, of course. The little "hairs" are called glochids. Try rubber cement or wax like is used to remove hair to remove glochids. Some santolinas can grow in Z6 reliably.
I repot my cactus "Fred" every spring and that's when he grows faster and flowers like crazy. So, repoting does need to happen if you want it to get big.
Would love a cactus care video. I don’t know anything about them but I would like to learn more!
YES the caterpillar definitely looks like from the movie Robots!
I live in San Antonio, Texas and my sister lives about 3 1/2 hours south of me in Monte Alto, Texas. We see that metal garden art sold everywhere. Some people even sale them on the sides of the road.
I have tons of yard art including metal llamas 🦙, goats 🐐 and a pig. I have a few metal flowers as well. They are great pops of color in the winter months. A few of the nurseries where I live in California carry them 😊
the caterpillar is he BEST lol
“You can only buy so much cacti”
LIES 🤣🤣🤣🌵😍
from what I understand (and granted, it's not a ton), it can and generally does take birds YEARS to get used to things like bird baths, houses, etc... I'm sure putting the house somewhere hidden and out of high traffic areas would help, but I think time is the main culprit (as usual, lol).(edit)... omg the metal garden art.... the giant bugs... when I have an outdoor garden, I wanna turn it into a macro "bugs life"! xD Robots is such a good movie... Aunt fanny, anyone?!?!?
Maybe the birds don’t know there’s a vacancy and it could be fixed with some simple advertising! Jk jk but I was blessed enough to watch two robins nest last spring, I learned that even looking at their nest from miles away when they’re not home spooks them so you may be onto something with the dogs, either way I hope you get some sweet baby birds in that birdhouse, how cute of your grandfather 😭❤️
I did not read all the comments but they are an herb called Santolina. It’s like lavender. I think it might work in your landscape. It grows here in NY in the sun. I love it.
In southern IN I’ve seen that type of Metal yard art at craft fairs! Never really at Big Box Stores but usually I can find independent sellers at art festivals and craft fairs
Metal art is super popular in New Mexico and Texas (along the boarder). You’re inspiring to love my hometown plants in Texas. I now live in Connecticut and miss the chihuahuan desert.
The desert is a special place!!
Your green mosaic dragon fly would be stunning on the wall behind you!
I live in northern Minnesota and I have gotten my cactus to bloom here!!
😱What an awesome haul🤩😍🤩😍!!! The cacti are perfect, all different colors and shapes. Can't wait for the desert display. Love love love the pottery and yard art. Wonderful treasures from home🤩😍🤩😍. Yes, you need Clematis!!! Everyone needs at least one 😁. Thank you for this video, so fun. You are such a doll 💓🥰😘
@16:42 most of my neighbor's yards have that planted in their landscape, here in TX, I can't decide if I like it or not for my own yard lol but it is certainly nice to know what the heck it is now lol
The blooms look like seed pods on the White cactus 🌵
The metal work flowers are popular in Texas, they’re sold at grocery stores and nursery’s around here. I’m gonna assume it’s probably close to the border of Mexico. Probably California as well.
Great morning start...yard art! Yea!
I love Tucson, lived there for 6.5 years (near Park Place Mall).
The one that you mentioned as being an owl eye is a mammilaria and those look like the fruit (which is edible, albeit tiny!).
Yard/garden art I usually find at flea markets or farmers market
Lowes has a bird bath that I saw online the other day that I think you may like! Since you like sunflowers, as do I! It’s called “Garden Treasures 20-in H Yellow/Green Resin Complete Birdbath”. 🌻 It’s a huge sunflower with a little frog at the base. May help in enticing birdies to move into your grandpop’s bird house 😜😄🥰 Can’t wait to see your video of you planting everything into your greenhouse! 💚
Oh my gosh that is SO cute 😭😭 I might have to go get that today hahah
OMG !!! I want all the yard art, it wonderful.
I would put the dragonfly in my fictional yard (🤏🏾give it!) - it’s sooooo cute!
The caterpillar 🐛 too 😍
4:32 that's some type of mammillaria
those arent blooms, that's after the blooms are spent they push out those seed buds
mammillarias bloom quite often and usually during april and may (at least where i live)
If you want a plant shopping buddy when you come back in August im doooown ❤️❤️
Fun video! Your out takes would be fun to watch!
I have cacti. They need a lot of light. If I couldn't keep them outside I would have given up on them. I have Euphorbia too. It seems to do well on the eastern window.
I used to live in Yucca and learned that Ocotillo are my favorite desert plant. When I visit the valley I love the creosote bushes. It’s the smell of the desert and my favorite smell!
I was thinking a creosote bush would be so nice! LOOOVE the smell.
Ugh I LOVE cacti 🌵 💞
Beautiful score!
So true about the prickly pear. I'm in Pennsylvania and I have seen those planted in people's yards. I just bought cuttings and I cannot wait for them to get bigger.
Random rambling Becca is my favorite 😂😂🙌🏻
Hahaha thank you 😭😂
If you want to have birds living in that bird house you need to start by giving the birds free food such as seeds! And birds also love water baths.
So exciting Becca! I live in Texas and it’s a really insanely hot summer here. You’ve inspired me to venture out and get some cactus this week! Love your videos always!
You’ve probably done this, but I would love to see a video on repotting cacti! 😂 I live in so. Utah, and have lots of cacti too, but I’ve been to scared to really take anything out of its nursery pot for fear of being poked!!
Caterpillar is totally adorable. A definite yes
The silvery, angular little leaves always remind me of zippers lol
And I lost it when you referred to the Golden Barrel as a forbidden bowling ball! So perfect :D
That Spanish terracotta pot would look nice with the cactus garden! You could think of the cactus garden as a mini yard. My parents in AZ have many pots among their cactus in their yard.
That bird house is so perfect 😭 I’ve been trying to find one exactly like that in the uk
I love you're book, and this video is great. You are funny and laughter is so infectious. The video with you're mum was lovely, take care from London.
I’ve now visited the desert three times, and man, I love it more than anything. Coming from the Northeast, it is always SO shocking to see such a different landscape. So cool
Ah Becca hi, i just love your video. I enjoys it everytime ,thank you so much. Love cactus💚
The pots are wonderful to add to your collection, Becca
Wow, those are some cool cacti! So big, and cheap. Don’t see that much cacti here in SF, but probably because we don’t get much sun here lol. I still love my tiny ones, and always happy when they grow little fuzzy balls :P. Love the yard art too! I don’t see much of that around here, but folks might steal it if it was put on the street level of the property. Thanks for sharing! All so lovely! Can’t wait to see where everything goes, and see updates.
I see the metal work yard decor literally everywhere here in so cal it's bezar
Just bought a fence-post cactus a few days ago after having it on my cacti wishlist for years and i‘m so in love🌵😍 i‘m really excited to see this beautiful cactus in your future videos :)
3:03 look at this app! It’s called plant parent, it’s an AWESOME Plant identifier, I looked it up on there and it said it was a “pincushion euphorbia (euphorbia enopla)
Aww.. the Golden barrel is my favourite. You didn't say how much though. I have about 10 but I lost 2 in the winter and spring.. but they're still babies about 4inches. I want a big one.
It was $50!
I love Mexican ceramic art so much! Great finds :)
Second one is Euphorbia horrida and third one is Mammillaria parkinsonii 😄
the mammillaria does not look like a parkinsonii. i have the same mammillaria that becca has and i forgot its full name lol
You should add a bougainvillea to your cactus patch! They come in the most gorgeous pinks and purples, and they seem to do well with a dryer climate unlike some other tropicals.
Maybe you could hang a Bird Feeder near the bird houses to encourage birds to frequent the area more.
PS I just watched Robots yesterday lol
Ok...if there ever was a video that would represent how my brain is on the inside this is it 😂. Love it even more that you're all over the place. Seasoned CZcamsr true life goings on. ❤️❤️❤️. Also can't wait for your greenhouse video. If it's going to be anything like your living wall it's going to be epic.
Regarding birds not moving into your bird house, I remember reading something along the lines of: you need to customise the bird house to the type of bird you want to attract. They each prefer a different size hole or shape of house and such. I'm not sure how correct this is but it may lead to some interesting research!
Ocotillo you have is a little different than the one you showed in the picture. This one is Alluadia procera. Both are in the same family I think.
Your Madagascar Ocotillo are really popular up here in Phoenix too but up here’s called false ocotillo. It’s so pretty, False or not…worth the trek back to your house. 🌵
I love everything you got! I’m actually going back to my hometown next month and I’m gonna get a plant or something that reminds me of it there because I’m feeling homesick😂 Also that caterpillar also reminded me of the movie Robots. The last name of the CEO of where I work is Bidwell and it reminds me of the big boss guy bigweld and I tell people and they have no clue what I’m talking about 😂 I’m like why doesn’t anyone know that movie it was such a huge part of my childhood… and adulthood 😂😂
LOVED this video! May have to start adding more cacti to my collection. 😍Thanks for the great video and a great plant channel!
I would hang the mosaic dragon fly where sun will bounce off those reflective tiles, so it can sparkle 💖
Ive seen that lavender plant before at nurseries here (Houston, tx), I didn’t realize they bloomed like that. It’s so pretty 😍 I’ve always seen it in small pots near the herbs, it’s really nice seeing a larger specimen.
I adore that talavera pottery design.😍
We have metal yard art reminiscent of those pieces here in Houston at my local 99 cent only store. Nothing as impressive as the hummingbird piece though. That’s so gorgeous i don’t think I could have left it behind either.
Not the wheels turning on a second greenhouse already, Becca. I see you. 😂😂
They have the clematis at lowes and Home Depot both I’ve bought it for my yard because of the blooms being so unique to me.
That outfit is soooooooo cute 🥰
Omg the pots are so cute!!
Loved them all I mean all
Soo beautiful!! 🤩🙌💚 treasures!!! 🎉
The cactus flower also looks like the flower on the lady of the night plant.
Yay! Happy youre back!
great channel ty
Can you do a update on these in your next greenhouse video? So we can see your vision.
omg i live in Mass and a 6in pot of 3 cacti is usually like $50 if i saw those for $15 i would have so many haha amazing haul
becca I love your videos😍😍😍please tell us how you traveled with these!! I want to bring some home with me when I go
I covet those pots! I have searched everywhere for that type of talavera pots forever with zero luck. Which then makes me question if the natural terra cotta with just the white and black isn’t even called talavera. If you have any links please share! AZ is a bit of a road trip for me from The finger lakes region of NY!
Love this channel.
You will be obsessed with gila bend AZ lolll
I think the second one is a Euphorbia Horrida, and that the third one you show off is definitely a Mammilaria of some kind, don’t know the genus though
Prickly pears are very invasive in other countries! It’s illegal to own one in Queensland australia as of the 80’s because it was soo invasive to our native plants. Fun fact!
We have all of these metal designs here in IN but the cost is easily 3-4 times as much.
Love you and your content 💕
That birdhouse might need to have metal placed around the opening to try and prevent woodpeckers from pecking the opening bigger and eating the baby birds inside 😬
striking "Strike " "bowling bowl" cactus lol
The first one is a Pincushion Euphorbia, and the second is an Old Lady Cactus according to my identifier app. Also, sorry if I said this twice, my first comment disappeared. Me thinks because I named the app I use. Ha!
I was born and raised in Tucson. Now live in the Phoenix area. Do you think cactus would stay alive and do well in my AZ room? Would love to make a cactus area in my AZ room. Thanks for sharing what you got in Tucson. My mother in law still lives there and we go visit her.
Robots meet A Bugs Life caterpillar 🐛 be patient with the birdhouse it takes them awhile to learn and then use. Usually atleast a full year if not 2. Desert rose and crown of thorns both have cactus like blooms as well
I absolutely adore clematis!
Watching this right after cutting the rotten base off my old man cactus cuz I over loved it 🤏💦 💔
The second one could be Euphorbia horrida?
I always though the spines on barrel cacti look like zip ties that have been cut and glued to the plant. I was thinking the cotton lavender plant looks like a lavender; I wonder if it’s related or just because the foliage looks like lavender
I loved the video! Regarding your cactus display, check out Laura eubanks’s channel for some great inspo. She does a lot of that kind of stuff.
Oh no way! Definitely will check that out :)
i absolutely adore how chaotic you are in this video lmao
Thank you so much 😂😂
For the birds, are the houses out in the open or hidden? I found they won't nest in bird houses that are too out in the open, or if there are birds like magpies nesting nearby because they'll eat the eggs too.
💚
I know this video is a month old now, but it's important to mention that not all Aloe is safe to use for skin care, burns, or to eat! There are different varieties of Aloe Vera which isn't talked about much. Aloe Vera Barbadensis Miller is both edible and used for skin care. Aloe Vera Chinensis is used to treat sun burn and is NOT EDIBLE.
For those wondering, Becca has an Aloe Vera Chinensis in this video.
Do You Have Any Tips For Indoor Cactus Care?
very lucky, u guys get things dirt cheap
the robots catepillar XD
HAHAH okay so you agree!!!
UR Funny today :)
Could it be an African Milk Barrel Cactus?
