Marilyn's makeup artist was Whitey Snyder not Whity Asher. She's right about him being her makeup artist up until her death. The glasses are funny! They're a funny, bigger version of the glasses she wore in the 1954 movie 'How to marry a millionaire'. I've read a lot of comments about Kandi talking in weird voice during the intro. Imo, she's just being playfully funny bcuz Marilyn really did talk similar to that in real life. I think Kandi did a great job on this! 💄😀
I seriously hope they make you play Marilyn Monroe in a movie about Marilyn Monroe. That would be an EPIC film as well just like the one coming out about Nirvana.

I do the same thing when I try to do any accent, I mess them all up and end up doing some weird imitation. Like when I try to do a British accent it ends up sounding Asian or like that old gay guy on Family Guy.

This is to say that he never revealed the exact products used to create her look. We do have some hints that Lisa Eldridge reveals in her (much later) video of Monroe's routine but many of the lines used either do not exist anymore such as some of her foundations or name brands without specifics. Otherwise he never said anything other than color profiles and the numerous mediums and one or two things he actually mixed himself like the gloss she used on her lips.
Just watched Lisa Eldridge's Marilyn video done two years after this one. I'm not hating, I love Lisa, but she basically quoted Kandee's video word for word.... Kandee did it first guys! This video is historically accurate and wonderfully done.
To be fair though they both did the same look with similar depth of research, and there's only so many different ways you can explain "stick a white in here and then put brown in that bit" type of thing. I personally prefer the way Lisa presented her version but kandee's is still super accurate and fun :)

Wow I have to say that Marilyn Monroe is one of my favorite icons and I always search that specific make-up look that she always had....when I was younger, I purchased that great book from Kevyn Aucoin called "Making Faces" where he had a marilyn-inspired look and I've been following that look up until now...when I just watched this video..I have to say that your tutorial really achieves that signature marilyn look better than I have ever seen before...Thank you so much for posting!! :)
Learned lots of fantastic tidbits from this video (as I always do watching your tutorials!) Fascinating how they worked with the cosmetics available at the time to maximize her beauty (as captured with the cameras used in the 50's and 60's.) The magic combo of conturing and highlighting never ceases to amaze me. Thank you!

i love that you mention the red lipliner in the inner corner and the gold liner on the top of the brown. i read on a blog those same tricks and used them for halloween a few years ago and no one ever mentions those tricks!!! i love the way they end up looking too!! thanks for sharing that.
