    All Hyde has to do in October with the pitching staff between Kremer and Rogers is choose the starter based on the opposing team. Whenever Rogers faces a team that struggles with lefty’s, he takes their struggles to the stratosphere and has his most dominant outings. If they’re above average against LHP you go with Kremer, but no matter what, you put the odd man out in the bullpen and tell them to be ready to go as if they were starting, and first sign of you swap them. This Grayson thing is a good thing for a couple reasons. 1) He’s going to be fresh for October and we won’t be concerned about where his innings are bc this is his first full season. 2) The competition we were expecting to see with Grayson and Efflin for the #2 will be even better with Grayson out bc if Grayson struggled it could have effected his postseason success and just handed Efflin the job, but this will force Efflin to have a lot of success and pitch like a true #2 to be our #2, and Grayson won’t be under pressure or garnering any negative feelings by losing the competition since it will look like he only slid to 3rd bc of the injury. It’s not just going to be fine, it’s going to be really good.

  • @BrutallyOrange

    First, Grayson is going to be fine. “Extremely mild strain” is absolutely not a medical term. There is such a thing as a mild strain with the lat muscle group, and that’s what was explained in this video. The Orioles saying it’s an extremely mild strain and that they are hopeful he will return this season(not postseason, regular season)makes it obvious that this is all precautionary. I think they saw an opportunity and they took it. Benching Grayson forces Efflin to pitch extremely well to earn the #2 slot as opposed to out-pitching Grayson. It also eliminates any inning-based concerns they might have with Grayson as you enter October, while it gives you a fresh Grayson going into postseason play. If you don’t hear anything in the next few days, at most, about Grayson’s injury, that would be indicative of a more severe injury, then he’s going to be pitching in the first playoff series for sure.
    But there’s definitely something wrong with this whole situation. We have too many guys getting hurt off the field when it comes to pitchers. Hopefully this is being deeply explored to figure out what’s wrong and what needs to be done to rectify this kind of stuff. Burnes had an injury early in his career and he’s flipped that into being the most consistent pitcher in all of MLB.

    Matt Weyrich @ByMattWeyrich says:
    Grayson Rodriguez has a “mild” lat strain and the Orioles are “optimistic” he’ll pitch again this season, Brandon Hyde says. It “seems to be” less serious than his 2022 lat strain. He’ll be shut down from throwing for now to rest and recover.

  • @shareman99
    @shareman99 Před měsícem +1

    I said at the trade deadline that they needs a real #2 or even another 1 starter. They went out and picked up 2 average starters because they didn't want to trade any farm bats. The weakness in the minors is the pitching because they focused on hitting all these years. It's something they have to do in the offseason because Corbin is gone. They could've of easily did it sooner at the trade deadline. If he is out rest of year then the WS isn't happening.

      @@CamKrazy2000 No the management has no balls and that was the problem. When you have the chance to go for it all you don't sit on your behind. This might not come around again for 5 or 10 years again. Pitching takes you to the promise land. Name 1 team that won the WS with just bats. Yankees can tell you it hasn't worked for the last 15 years.
