Marta, many thanks for your instructions on the pruning of lavender, salvia and catmint. And you made me realise that I lost the gaura that survived for 3 years. Your garden is beautiful and your lessons should not be missed! Hug, Hanna, Holland

Great tips. Thank you for sharing! Here in New Hampshire zone 5b I hard prune my Dianthus after their initial flush of blooms and that just helps the plant look tidy and act as a nice evergreen groundcover. 😊🌸

I cut my Caradonna sage hard last fall just a month before first frost and the result was spectacular. It grew 35" tall as same as the width. I did pruned variegated weigela too after the flowers faded in late spring. It produced more new growths making its bush look so healthy. I love pruning my perennial plants

Hi , It is so lovely to see you again! Lots of love from Sri Lanka, I lost my whole garden due to heavy rain so this time no pruning but removing rotten plants.😭

My Saturday morning would not be complete without your videos Marta 😊 The summer really flew by and I can’t believe it is soon to be autumn again. I am in the UK and my lavender still in full bloom. I am really struggling to keep my roses fresh in second half of the summer. Black spot takes over, they don’t bloom as much and all look a bit sad, didn’t figure out how to tackle that yet.

Hi from the UK 😉 I've started to pull off any dodgy looking leaves from my Roses when ever I spot them, they seem to be doing better this year. Gertrude Jekyll was always the most unhealthy looking. I stripped all of her leaves off and she has come back green and lush. Take care x

If roses grow in the south or west, they should be well watered at the root,,
especially in summer when there is no rain, Roses love water.
Also, all infected leaves should be removed. The rose will restore them quickly.
That is my experience. Have a nice autumn and nice roses!

Thank you, Marta. I always enjoy your videos because you share important details. I'm in the San Francisco bay area & my gaura gets huge. I had to hard prune my catmint because of a whitefly infestation. I hope it grows back well like yours.

Hi Marta from England. For years I only ever cut the blooming stems off my lavender until last year when I watched a video that showed how to prune Lavender exactly the way you do. What a difference it made. I have added Salvia to my garden for the first time this year. I have given them a light prune but next year I will use your method. Much love x

The best advice for lavender pruning❣I have been doing this also for two years.
Gaura likes pruning after the first and second flowering, almost halfway up the stem.
Dear Marta, your advice is gold!💥

I took your advice. I hard pruned daisies, nepeta, Veronica, salvia, petunias, lavender, and verbena. Exceptional results. I worried that I’d just killed a bunch of stuff, but no. I’m dealing with ravaging caterpillars eating our pine trees and petunias. I learned about milky spore powder this year. I’ll be using that next year in a timely manner. Thanks for the great content. I’m in Connecticut, USA, zone 6b. Super humid here.l love roses, but kill them on a regular basis. They start out each summer looking fab, but then Japanese beetles eat everything. Work in progress.

I watched your earlier video on hard pruning salvia. I did it late June and it came back so pretty. I will definitely do this from now on. (It looked pretty scary at first 😂).

I planted my Gaura high in my garden in full sun because they have a tap root and don’t like disturbance or competition. Gaura require rich, organic soil with good drainage and they will survive and bloom until they die back or be cut down in autumn.

It's going so fast. I was just thinking at the beginning of your video how it seemed like yesterday you were doing spring cleaning in the garden. *sigh Thank you for sharing your tips. They will be helping me greatly in my Canadian garden. x

    Thank you for this video!
I would love to know what you would do with an established lavender that hasn't been pruned in the 6 years that it's been planted? I just learned this year that I was supposed to prune and I would like to try to give it some shape since it's taking over a good portion of one of my flower beds. Thank you!

Hello. Beautiful garden. Are you dead heading your Verbena? Would you suggest hard pruning cat mint and gaura right now for more blooms or is it too late in the season?

Hi Marta. I found some baby lavender plants in my lavender bed and I want to move them. Should I move them now or wait until the spring? Our first frost is sometime around the beginning of November. Do you prune your lavender plants again in the spring? Thanks!
