After all those years, I can't believe people are still stuck to the Michael Kiske era in Helloween. C'mon guys, wake up! Helloween has made so many awesome albums with Andi Deris that is kindda unfair keep comparing them with Keepers 1 and 2 or any other Michael Kiske's album. Listen to Master of Rings, The time of the oath, Better than Raw, The Dark Ride... it's awesome albums and I'm sure that this My God given right will be awesome too. Andi Deris is a great singer and has a unique voice, a unique style of singing that is almost impossible to copy, unlike Michael Kiske, which I've seen so many singers sing exactly like him. Not saying that Kiske is bad, but think Andi deserves so much more credit that is already adressed to him.
I agree fans don't realize that Andi Deris saved the band when he came in big shoes to fill and not only did he fill them he carved his niche in the rich tradition of Helloween

Marco Morales , Man, i know it´s a tough choice, but we must remember that also on the first album, reptile, guardians, gorgar, starlight were written by Weikath, and in the Keepers album, as you said, Eagle fly free, dr. stein, rise and fall and the masterpiece keeper of the seven keys, livin´aint no crime also were written by Weiki, over the years in the pink bubbles and chameleon era, Weiki wrote the most important songs, like first time, revolution now, windmill, number one, heavy metal hamsters and so on, and the most important thing about weiki is that when helloween was about to end, for many reasons in the end of 1993, he and andi deris ressurected helloween with a powerful album, yeah! Master of The Rings! witch our friend Weiki wrote not less than 7 songs of the 11 on the album, i respect much kai hansen for all he is and was in the metal scene, but Michael Weikath is far better and unfortunately he is underrated musician. Typical and classic Helloween! :D Gamma Ray has fallen, Hammerfall has fallen, Edguy has fallen, Avantasia has fallen, Angra has fallen, Silent Force has fallen, Blind Guardian has fallen, Sonata Arctica has fallen, but Helloween always prevail! In a dark time in power metal-history, where most of the bands have turned to hard rock, and are without energy and passion, it´s just fantastic that Helloween just keeps doing their thing, without any bullshit! They have their own unique genre of power metal, and in Michael Weikath, they have one of the most talented composers on this earth!! Bless you Helloween, for doing what you do, carrying on the power metal-torch :)

Decaying Reverie helloween got pretty brutal midway through their work but now they're going back to their more power metal roots which can be nice for the fans
Decaying Reverie Still better than every other new release from the power metal-genre. At this point, Helloween is the only power-band that really stick to it´s roots, but are also modernizing. We still have Sabaton though ;)

This song is REALLY fantastic! After seing Halloween live at Out and Loud in Geiselwind early this month I immediately bought their new album 'My God Given Right'. The entire album is great - this song 'Battle's won' is the greates song however!
I own every helloween album and while some have been only good to average a vast majority of their catalog is excellent. They have more great albums than most bands put out total albums.
MGGR is safe but an enjoyable listen. Especially cranked! This may not be their best but it is relatively solid release. A Little Rant: People saying the Deris Era is crap, may have forgotten Pink Bubbles Go Ape (so/so) and Chameleon (epic fail as far as metal goes). This lead to the firing of Kiske since he was leaning in different direction (take note that a portion of his solo work after Helloween is more Hard Rock/AOR...Place Vendome, Kiske/Somerville). Don't get me wrong Kiske is a great vocal talent, but I would take any album of the Andi Deris era over the above mentioned albums. That leaves only 2 albums that Kiske sang on that are considered great during his tenure; that was in the Hansen era. Personally Andi was an important part of Helloween's resurrection after Chameleon. 10 albums, 20+ years later and a catalog that is filled with many great songs, Andi (and a power house of a vocalist) still remains as an integral part of the band. Helloween is still considered to be amoung the elite of Power Metal bands. Of course that is that is my humble opinion.

Lumpyrox All you need to check out is Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt1 and Pt2 when they were good. Everything since has been mediocre to me.
Andi Deris is a awesome singer & awesome frontman, but he still don't get the credit he deserves.
