Nice winning speech by Christie, you never know what happen with your life in the future. He's underrated player in men's singles yet shows determination to be patient and keep going with his career. Then being newlyweds, soon to be father and winning All England in short period of time. What a life. Congratulations 🎉
He was never underrated. He just fell in a slump due to several issues that distracted him from his top form.
Nice to hear give some credit to God, without whom we would all have nothing. A man of faith, I think he is a believer in Jesus too.

This is actually a great match they already familiar to each other in terms of playing on a match.
Congrats Christie, both are my fav players. Ginting played really well this game, his shots were the hardest ones, from the net shot, the dive, the slice, even the smash, those in uncomfortable position, just need a little bit more precise he can win. Hope he can keep this good form in the next tournaments.
As the name said, "senjata makan tuan". Ginting often fooled by his own guns...

Ginting playing style is more tricky but also very risky. In the good days he is unstoppable but that kind of shots are not stable. Christie at the opposite play with less variations but very stable with a good smash and it works today.
Personally I prefere Ginting style but anyway both are great players
This version of jonathan christie is solid and patient. I hope his game consistent keep for the next olympic and more consistency. ❤ . All Indonesian players have strong hands and skillfull players, but full of unforced error in a tough game and normal game. They need to patient and calm sometimes like japanese players 😊😊😊

Ginting is the best player in the world when he doesn't make mistakes. He had an amazing run this tournament - until the finals. The mistakes started creeping in, like the old Ginting. Before the finals, he made very few mistakes and his shot quality was very high. If he could maintain that level, he'd be unstoppable.

This day Jonatan Christie was the best player in the world though.
I don't think so. Both has similar attacking playstyle, while Christie's defense was way too good, his attacks were also deadly. Ginting already tried his common hard smashes, cross smashes, net play, deceptions but no use, that's why he started to play trickier shots (corners, sided shots) which need more precision and caught his opponent off guard which makes he missed some.

This was a deceptive outcome because Christie is a superb singles player who was a highly ranked player who came in unranked only due to a slump that he has been climbing out of recently. He will be ranked, again, in no time.
So why are net blocks disallowed now. Exact same issue with match with Nishimoto. Racket was raised to defensive block an attacking shot and was called a fault. I cannot in my mind comprehend this.
Agreed, I could understand if they were waving the racket over to the opponents side of the net, but it was a defensive shot, and actually I would argue a self preservation movement which he got lucky with. Shouldnt have been an obstruction fault shot.
When u play someone u know a lot, it is unfavorable for players that rely on deceptions. Since the other player knows the deception.

@@Witisun In Ginting's match against Axelsen, Ginting hit a similar shot, that Axelsen thought was a fault, because it looked like the shot was hit in the opponent's side of the court.

Ginting's too nervous. He had the same problem in the semi final against Axelsen. He squandered a massive lead against Axelsen. He only managed to win in the end thanks to a bad call by the umpire.

Ginting really deserved to win this tournament.
Jonatan undoubtedly had a much easier hand, gathering plenty of rest from the early exit at the french open and another stroke of luck with Shi yu qi retiring, whereas Ginting after taking down Axelsen had barely survived an extremely physical game against Popov. The fact that he was still performing as well as he did is a miracle in itself.
