    This is such a great recipe and so versatile! I'm lactose intolerant so I used oat milk instead of real milk and switched the pork out for ground turkey (93% lean from costco) - turned out great! Also in an effort to be low carb I toasted a low carb bread that I crumbled up instead to use as a substitute. I eat these sometimes as lettuce cups, with thai papaya salad, I've I've tried it with spaghetti sauce - tastes great with everything!

    @joewilliams5675 Před 3 lety

    Made these tonight. Here's how it went:
    AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I did add some lime juice and a touch of chili paste to the milk, bread crumbs, and garlic. I also added chili paste to the pickling mix as well as some cucumber ribbons. My "sauce" was simply sriracha, mayo, a hint of lime juice, and sugar. And it was all so very good!
    Thanks,
    Marion

      It has starch from breadcrumbs and simple carbohydrates from carrots and sugar. So not that keto I think. I'm not an expert, just my general observation

      Not keto as is, but could be modified to keto with some creative substitutions.

    • @Optimist788
      @Optimist788 Před 3 lety

      This isn’t KETO but to me it’s the healthy version of KETO you don’t need to make the bread paste could use a vegetable starch it’s so little that it wouldn’t be a significant amount. I personally don’t count vegetable “carbs” as the fiber content changes the nutritional value. The more vegetables and fiber the better. I eat 12-17c of vegetables a day and I’ve been “Keto” for 6 years. I’m more about not having processed foods and I’m also primarily plant based. Hope this is helpful. Stay safe and healthy everyone❤️

    Hi Marion!
    Your recipe looks quite yummy and healthy. However, in Vietnamese language, "banh mi" is the bread or the baguette, not the meat, or the pickled, or that combo. Without the bread, it would not be called "banh mi" at all. I am pretty sure that Vietnamese people will not call that "banh mi" when they see your video either, even when you call it "banh mi" in the title. So I think you should name it something else other than "banh mi", or maybe "banh mi"-inspired recipe.
    Sincerely!

    Looks delicious regardless and I understand the why people would want to use a lettuce wrap, but it's just funny seeing something called a banh mi when it has no bread because banh mi literally means bread. Really it's missing some key flavors though, namely the use of lard and liver pate... though mayo does good in place of the lard.
