- The Karbonius intake is finally on after weeks of waiting for this piece art to arrive from Spain, stunning quality and with an improved sound over the GSR unit previously fitted!

great video as ever that sound never gets boring iff only i had the cash for one got to live with the stacks for the minute 😅
Nice work, James! Just sounds the nuts! I've yet to recruit someone to video me doing a drive by with the Karbonius installed on my Z4M Coupe..
The videos never capture the full glory but in person (as you know) it’s so good 😎
The clips are also great to watch back when it’s hibernating in the winter 😅
Good to see the jubilee clips have been replaced for the OEM clips 😎
A tip for the wormclips. You can use the M5 E60 wormclips, which are smaller. Much easier to work on. You just have to be carefull to clear the ears on the thorttlebody. WHen I fitted the CB airbox on the S54 I did not have any issues using these wormclips from the m5 E60.
Good to know 👍 it will no doubt be off again at some stage lol
Sounds awesome 😎
Your csl boot fit is amazing…is it oem?
Thanks Mike 😎
It’s one of the better replicas, built by a company called streamline carbon but they have gone bust sadly.. the fit is 95% there compared to the original, Karbonius build a beautiful one now too 😎
great job james, where did you buy the aftermarket clips you used
Just off eBay 👍

How did you fix the dispstick tube? By the way, regarding the SMG reservoir - did you have to use a different (longer) tubing to relocate it?
As per the video the dipstick is resting against the airbox with a silicone sleeve I fitted.
Yes CSL tube required
Was the change from stock MAF to CSL IAT via Ecuworx the only software change you did to get the car running smooth and without erros ? Normally people prefer to get a complete alpha-n software remap. I´d be interested whats the least interfering way to run the Airbox, maybe you can share your thoughts, thanks !
I had already had my ECU converted to MAP as this was how the Geoff steel unit was set up. ECU worx can provide all the software to convert from MAF > MAP 👍
Alpha N is the least efficient set-up as don’t not use MAF or MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensors, it’s the easiest to install but also is not as smooth in terms of drivability, having driven a friends Alpha N it’s not something I would do for a car used on the road personally.
in the video you fit the unfiltered section and snorkel as one piece . iam doing this conversion myself and the snorkel wont fit, do you have to remove the inlet pipe going down to lowerr bumper
I don’t run the factory CSL ducting, as detailed in my earlier video I run 100mm direct from the bumper intake so can be lowered as one piece in my case 👍

where did you get the BMW Mpower sticker for the airbox?
It came with the airbox but not sure if it’s something that’s always included as not detailed on the website as being included.
You can buy them online - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204695120994?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=oqIpacj5SXe&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=CKFRglVnR7S&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
8:00 how does one undo this IAT splice and go back to MAF wiring sensor if one needed to for smog inspection? I chose a car because it had Redish RACP reinforcement, but I got in over my head because of the CSL airbox present which is a problem for MOT here :\
Hi,
You shouldn’t need the MAF at all if you’ve fitted the MAP sensor in its place (the CSL runs MAP - manifold absolute pressure sensor as standard over mass air flow)
Only issue is if the cars running “alpha N” mapping which i would avoid anyway as never found them to drive nicely without the parameter control
did you have any issues with that plastic piece rubbing? i just got mine done and instantly had scratches on my box from that piece rubbing
Thankfully no scratching but was very close, also keep in mind I have the powerflex adjustable engine mounts so less movement in my engine. Get the plastic piece chopped down and hopefully the box can be polished back to good as new
@@stoneautomotive for the time being a stuck a little piece of foam on the end of the plastic piece so we’ll see if that’s viable.
👍🏼
Do you have a link to those clips you used?

How much is that Karbonious box my friend🤔
It all depends on the spec you choose, details to the website below 👍 you’ll need the airbox, filter & snorkel if not running the genuine CSL flap (as detailed in part 1)
karbonius.net/producto/bmw-m3-e46-csl-style-airbox-fullcarbon/
What exhaust?
Completely stock exhaust including all catalysts still fitted.
18.55 That car was trying to follow you lol or was he with you?
It was my mate, left him for dead but had to make sure hence the repeat mirror checks 😅
@@stoneautomotive yeah I saw those mirror checks haha, what was he driving?
@@swansmeister modified e46 330 so I head the slight advantage with power but always great to see how much gap you can create 😅
@@stoneautomotive nice, e46 duo for the win. Just got some new mods on my car also, waiting for the last one, actualy from Regal Autosport, a wavetrack diff but it's in backorder. After that the car is finished.
@@swansmeister nice choice sir 😎 proper diff that 👌
