Every other line in this show is just brilliant: "Spoken modestly, God help us."
"Oh, he will, John, he will."
Oh, Good God.
"am I the only person who read this comment exactly when it was said in the song?" - Jim Carsters, 2023

"when will you return!?"
"short-LEE!"
I INSTANT-LEE LOVED THIS SONG
I was initial-LEE a bit wary about it, but now it's definiteLEE one of my favorites.
+CHANCELLOR PALPATINE This is defendant-Lee my favorite musical.
+CHANCELLOR PALPATINE Christopher Lee was related to this guy which means Christopher Lee was related to Robert E Lee
Inital-LEE I thought the song was kinda weird, but now it's definite-LEE my favorite.
Oh my god. Definit-LEE to many -LEE puns.
This entire song is one big pun.
Entire-Lee!
Most certain-LEE!
AbsolutLEE!
love-lee
Obvious-Lee!
"We're free and he hasn't even left yet." William Daniels was an amazing John Adams.
The best line in the song
This movie is definiteLEE one of my favorites.
VeriLEE, I do agree with thee. And this song is my favorite in the movie.
My favorite part is that Franklin plays along with him. Makes Lee seem like an energetic kid, which is perfect for this song.
Lee became my favorite character after this song and then he only came back like once :(
He was asked to be governor. So he had to resign resptfuLEE:)
Yes he did
always thought Ben Franklin should say, "Robert E." And, Richard Henry reply, "Who's he?"
gretchenaro funny joke but Robert E. Lee wasn't even born yet. (u probably knew that tho 😂)
thats funny
Nah, no need to sully this film or song with the name of a man who committed treason to defend a rebellion waged for the purpose of preserving slavery.
@@antonbrakhage490 r/woooosh
@@antonbrakhage490 watch your mouth! General LEE defended his home and his fellow Virginians from an an Invading, Illegal Army. Its not Treason to leave the Union by vote like the South did and dont give me the bull the War was about Slavery, if it was there wouldnt of been a need for the Underground RR to go all the way to Canada or West Virginia wouldnt of been admitted into the Union in 1863 as a Slave state and the Northern Army would of freed captured slaves instead of putting them to work, lastly Lincolns Inaugural address clearly stated he wouldnt interfere with the institution of slavery, but if you want to believe the your 7th grade social studies teacher over a 6 year college student in History the choice is yours.
At least when Lee sings about himself, he does so modestLEE

John Adams wrote this

Our songwriter can confirm.
I worked stage crew for this and we had the person who played Robert Lee, a guy who played Rutledge whose real name was Lee, and then my nickname is Lee-Lee. It confused the hella out of me.
So you say that the play was done very confusing-LEE?
Dylan Chouinard Because here a Lee there a Lee, and over there a Lee-lee
Ron Holgate is freakin' great! He enjoyed a fine career in opera as well as his Broadway musicals. I'm so glad I got to see him onstage in 'Guys and Dolls' in 1994, twenty-five years after he won the Tony for this show. Got to say hello afterwards and he's a genuinely nice guy.
This movie is a creative version of how things went during this crucial and vital time period that would forever define how this nation came to be. It has humor, romance, comedy, and makes the historical figures seem much more..colorful..than they actually are. It brings history into perspective..yes?
Is it just me, or does this remind anybody of the 'Leedle leedle leedle lee' episode of spongebob?
LEEdle LEEdle LEEdle LEE
Artsy Drawer yes
john Adams sounds absoluteLEE done with everyone
I am seriousLEE obsessed with this song
Now it's off to Stratford to refresh the missus!
I had to watch this movie for school and this was my favorite song
Incredible, we're free; and he hasn't even left yet.
INSTANT-LEE A HIT
INCREDIBLE. We're free and he hasn't even left yet!
Adams: Spoken modestly, God help us.
Franklin: Oh he will john; he will.
I think the last line he sings is “forward ho” but every time I hear it it’s so strong and guttural and I LIVE for it
Incredible, we are free and he hasn't leaved yet.
I loved the movie! Fantastic soundtrack all the way!
I love how snarky Adams is.
My youngest played Richard Henry Lee in high school...... I loved the kids passion for musicals in school
Lee was such a ham, but he is definitely my favorite.
Wish I had Lee's energy. Lol!
I guess I have enough energy to play as him in my high school musical :3
I can't listen to this without hearing "First Toymakers to the King"
You guys are deLEErious with all the puns.
I feel lucky to get to watch this movie in U.S. History. 😄
Adams: Spoken modest-LEE, God help us.
Franklin: Oh he will john; he will
FunniLEE enough, All these Lee puns got started by the great Ben Franklin.
This movie was probably the one thing I loved about American history class.
"here a-Lee there a-Lee everywhere a-Lee a-Lee"...."When do you leave?" "ImediatLEE" "When will you return?" "ShortLEE" "here a-Lee there a-Lee" "And I'll come back triumfantLEE" "here a-Lee there a-Lee everywhere a-Lee a-Lee"
*_FOOOORWAAARD HOOOOOOOOO!!!_*
"incredible. Where free and he hasn't even left yet! what makes you so sure you could do it! "
"And may my wife refuse me bed!"
Absolutely awesome!
You mean "absolut lee"?
Richard Henry Lee's Hamminess is just pure awesome.
The fountain where this scene in shot is the same fountain in the opening sequence for the tv show Friends.
I have seen this movie so much, I am compelled to do a drumroll whenever I say (drumroll) George Washington.
This song has been stuck in my head all day...thanks a lot.
This song is good
Literally I have listen to this song 56 times in the last 5 minutes. Someone tell me that ain't amazing! Lol
Guys I have a feeling Virginia is his home
@mashroxmysox Howard da Silva (Ben Franklin) is hilarious. I just need to find the whole movie on here. But I love the part where they're going to New Brunswick and John tries to wake Ben up, like this:
Adams: Franklin, wake up. We're going to New Brunswick.
Franklin: Like hell I am. What for?
Hopkins: The whoring and the drinking!
(Franklin jumps up quickly)
That part just kills me.
It took me a few viewings to warm up to the musical (I just love taking the piss out of it) but from the first time I watched it I knew that this was my favorite song.
My mental soundtrack all morning: "HERE a Lee, THERE a Lee, everywhere a Lee, a Lee!"
It made me happy and frustrated at the same time.
This is a certain-LEE great movie!!
Okay, so, as a person who's not very familiar with english, all I can hear LEE LA LEE LA LEE LA LEE LA LEE .____.
Most of the song is words which end in/pronounced/sound like 'lee' (such as 'definitely'). It's a playful song - Richard Henry Lee is saying how EVERYTHING is 'LEE' - named after him. Get it ;>
As a native English speaker with difficulty separating voices from background sound, you are not exactly wrong...
The only reason I'm doing so well with this is that I played bass trombone in a college production of 1776.
Pretty accurate.
You're not completely off
He’ll be returning shortLEE, because he has to go refresh the misses first!! QuickLEE!!
AbsoluteLEE!
Right-LEE so, good man.
Great song from a great musical
Would it be extremely racist if, when I move to Korea, I just stood in the middle of the street pointing at people and singing, "HERE A LEE, THERE A LEE. EVERYWHERE A LEE, A LEE." >A>
Kyler McKenna yes, funny, but incredibly racist
How is this so catchy?? Love it totaLEE. 😂😂😂
New national anthem
Poor KITT....(William Daniels).
Lee is HILARIOUS!
Proudly related to Robert E. Lee .
Gladly served him as a drummer
Then you're related to one of my friends.
Meade Music Yet you're Meade Music

Drink for every Lee
No thanks, I don't want to die lol
(Staggers around drunkenLEE)
You would die of alcohol poisoning before the song was over.
Thank you, gracia's...
All the LEE jokes here are ExtremeLEE funny!
He performs magnificent-LEE.
Favorite musical
Such a good song
I wonder if Mr. Lee ever noticed that his tactic starting around 1:20 could easi-LEE backfire quite unflattering-LEE.
I've seen it many times. I do love it.
Sherman Edwards missed a lot of words to use in this song. Natural-Lee, he used the best words he could. :D Bless ya, Edwards!! I so hope to see your grave in New York before I die.
Agreed.... our favorite FFV got 74 saying yay, 0 saying nay, and 18470 abstaining courteously... of course
And let us not forget the noble descendent, Robert E. Lee!
My favorite song in the whole movie!
it is such a good show!!
I love America.
A whole song made wholly of "Lee" jokes? Re-lee?!
Modest-LEE, good sir. ;)
COME ON BOYS JOIN IN WITH ME!
Wait a sec, wasn't Light-Horse Harry General Robert E. Lee's father? That's nearly 100 years later! Ricky Lee can travel through time.
Robert E Lee was born in 1807 and his Father Henry lee died in 1818
Served Robert E. Lee as both infantry and cavalry. Retired as a Captain in the Cavalry. Robert E. is the son of Light Horse Harry Lee. God bless the South!
They used to be blessed. but like the Lee's god stopped leaning in their favor sometime between the 1860s and the 1970s.
I think this song is love-LEE
ExtremeLEE.
No dislikes yet. ^_^ That is one amazing thing about this. Absolut-Lee amazing!
This is the most irritating and addicting song in the musical. I can't stop listening to it and it annoys my brains out. .____.
I DHOULD NOT REMEBER SONG BUT I DO AND IM DIEING
Adams was like I am done with this shit already let me leave please
He earned the nickname in 1778-an anachronism, yes, but hardly a big stretch.
CertainLEE
Level of stress: the trumpet player in this number
Who else wanted Lee to walk into a tree or fall into the fountain?
I'm pretty sure there's an extended version of this scene where Lee actually does go into the fountain
@@liv5455 no, Adams does. Lee appears out of the bushes on his horse, singing a bit of a reprise. Adams backs into the fountain in trying to get out of his way.
And the women are serene, full-bossomed.
These are clearLEE awfLEE terrible puns.
Well said, LilaKooks. Would you mind if I use this in my film review for a college course?
I play this during assassins creed 3
yaay!!!
@HarryPotterFan364 Well, a lot of people don't like things that go a little too long. You may be one who likes the movie, but not a lot of people like it like it's a real popular movie.
I want the lyrics for this song!
This movie/musical is certain-LEE better than Hamilton
Il_Padrino So True.
You mean easiLEE.
