- Welcome to a ride on the Skytrain from Waterfront to King Gerorge. Enjoy the full expo line ride on a 1985 MK 1 #085/#086 & #118/#119!

Great video. I haven't lived there for 20 years but watching this brings back good vivid memories of riding the expo line
I spent 3 years in vancouver. The place means a lot to me. I used to travel from joyce collingwood to granville almost everyday. Those were the best days of my life. I miss the city alot. Thanks for uploading this video. It got me so emotional.
IM HERE CAUSE I MISS VANCOUVER!!!
Beautiful Skytrain!
I love the door chime !
I remember taking this everywhere when I lived in Van between 2011-2014... the memories come flooding back. Loved living there
20:40 Oh my God, Sean - I think he likes me
She just expressed an Epiphany that may change her life, and the Skytrain will always remind her, if her connection with the divine Sean bears fruit (or at least a free dinner).
I miss Vancouver 😭🇨🇦
Such nostalgia, even though went Thanksgiving Week 2015 As a late Birthday present going to ky birthplace ever since my family left a year after my birth in 2004 Nov 12... I Cry now that I see Dis on you tube.
We have the same trains (variants of the Mark 2 that can run as single cars) here in New York for the Airtrain JFK, the airport people mover, and I just love the sounds they make.
Looking back at this video, it seems like the announcements come in a little bit slower than what we have right now (like the next station, what line the train's running on) lol
These are the exact same trains as the Scarborough Rapid Transit (SRT) in Toronto connecting to our regular TTC trains at Kennedy Station. However, we have our own little chime and a driver lol. Had them since 1985.
also detroit people mover
I use to visit my family in Vancouver and non stop traveling arrownd Vancouver Was nice experience
i miss when life was ez
@13:50 @16:45 six car ICTS mk1, nice~
Wow this video brings back the pre-covid vibes, so weird seeing people without masks, also cool video
Do they also have the new voice announcements for the Canada Line as well?
At the Heaven Inc office Christmas party awhile back, God's Secret Santa gave him a copy of Sim City...and Vancouver is the result, the cleanest most orderly laid back & vibrant big city in the world. 2.5 mill for a metro area is just about right.
i do loved this skytrain the original one like the srt
Well it is a block buster movie.
OMG IT SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE THE SRT IN TORONTO
+DarthTheGamer the Scarborough RT? (I live in Toronto, so I just want to know what you're referring to). There's also the Harbourfront LRT on the Lakeshore; the beginning of that looks identical to this as well
Robert W The Scarborough RT is also known as Line 2 Scarborough and uses Skytrain Technology unlike the LRT you are talking about.
+Buizel Productions i know that (I'm from Toronto :)
Robert W
Well I am from a suburb of Vancouver
+Robert ye
The surrounding by the downtown tunnel entrance used to be more open. Now it's all covered up. Can't watch the tunnel entrance from above street anymore.
Nice tour of Vancouver and the area to the southeast. It would have been much better if you identified the SkyTrain stops as the train entered each station.
Have you thought about pressing the CC button on the bottom right of the video on computer or on the top right settings button if you're on mobile when the train is announcing its station names?
This train your riding on reminds me of the people mover in Detroit Michigan . It’s a man who announces the next Station
The Detroit People Mover is pretty interesting, in my opinion, since they run in a circle.
When they make the Bloor-Danforth line extension replacing the SRT I think they should give the SRT vehicles to Vancouver
Agreed.
We don't need your mark 1 trains. Our new mark IIIs are gorgeous, and are currently awaiting more to be delivered this year
The mk1 trains have the inside out ads on them
the trains look funny haha
And in the future, the trains will look funnier. In the future, trains will be so FAST, there won't be need for seating. We will all be riding, standing up.
I love translink
Burrard and Granville always made me wonder if they were designed to double as fallout shelters (the 80s was still the cold war after all). Theyre just so extremely deep underground.
It was an underground tunnel made by the CPR.
@AlphineWolf True but the rumors still persist that the whole structure was re engineered to be one.
takes 43mins to get from van to surrey.
how often do the trains run this route at this time of day depicted on your vid
Martin Theiss the crucial thing to realize is that "Skytrains" are run by a central electronic control center, the builsing for this line, the "expo" and the "millenium" is located nearby 22nd St. station; since human error is almost none existant, "blocks" or large sections of track where only one train is allowed to be in at and given time are not nessacary and instead the system run off of a "moving block" system where trains are run basicaly as close as they can be to each other while still being financialy viable, not creating a bottleneck, and most importantly keeping a safe distance from eachother incase of a need for a emergency stop. because of this, trains are run at peak times about every 2 minutes to no longer than 10 minutes during lulls, everyday from the first train leaving King george station at 5:00am and the last train leaving waterfront station at 12:30pm.
They usually come every two minutes if that’s what you mean.
Are the Skytrains fully automated, or is their a driver.
This system is fully automated.
there is sometimes a driver at the control centre but if not its controlled by computer
Gary Plastek no
No driver fully automated
Who does the announcements? Oh, when is the Evergreen Line going to be opened?
+Alex Jirgens Sorry for the inconvenience, I just realized the link seems to be broken.
The person who does the annoucements for the Canada Line and Skytrain is Laureen Regan.
From CBC, they say that the Evergreen Line would be open early 2017. Here's the link:
www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/evergreen-skytrain-2017-skytrain-transit-translink-1.3340013
The Evergreen line is open as an extension of the Millennium line as of last year.
Did Karen Kelm (old Skytrain voice) quit or get fired?
+MissxVenomxPoison "The previous voice of SkyTrain was Karen Kelm, who used to work for BC Transit in the 80s. She was an employee at SkyTrain from BC Transit Vancouver Transit System” “Karen Kelm had done pre-recording on the Skytrain in the 80s and when the Millennium Line opened” meaning she had work with Vancouver Transit system “between 1985 and 2001." From a Translink's newsletter employee said that she’s an artist now. Not sure if she had quit or gotten fired. Mostly likely that remains a mystery.

+Van BC what about laureen ragan?
Laureen Regan works at a company called "Regan Productions" based in Calgary since 1996. She had also done annoucements like at Amtrak in Oakland, BART transit system in San Francisco, and light rail systems in Calgary.

That sounded like a Toshiba GTO....
I’ve never gone past metrotown
Get the Millennium Line?
Aaron Abas from what station to which station? I might take at least a few days to upload. Lemme calculate it first.
(For this video: Editing 3 hours + Uploading 11 hours + 45 minutes to film + 1 hour transit = Approx. 15 hours / 3 * 4 (To make it 60 minutes) = 20 hours + sharing internet with other people) Yeah, a few days
Well you can start from Columbia and end at VCC-Clark
Alright! Will do!
I'm still gonna record the announcements via Voice Recorder on my phone, and link your videos with mine (annotations leading to your New Ann. videos)
+Van BC Holy crap! :D
어느 나라 지하철인지 궁금하다
Lol Vancouver copied the SRT and made it a bit better
Yeah. They even use the same trains.
Typical Gamer Vancouver technicaly guinea piged the concept as the first practical instalation of the system was built in the mid 1980s for the 1986 Expo; that orginal lime now the expo line shown in this video.
