Coming home after school was always countdown, deal or no deal, Paul o Grady and the Simpsons. Then fridays just the best it crowd, Friday night project, my name is earl. I miss those days
the memories... all these will be burned into my memory forever from watching the end of the Weakest link and then the Simpsons after one if these indents
All of the music was specially composed for the idents. It was actually very late when they decided to add music, originally there'd just be sound effects and background noise, but once they'd finished producing the original set they decided to add music to them.
oh I miss the era years between 2003-2010 they were the best, but now channel 4 has screwed with there idents and now we're approaching the 2020s I'll miss the 2000s
OxygenRBX i was going to reply with an answer but i rly cant think of one. the appeal of idents is so hard to describe bar the usual “it’s nostalgic and reminds me of my childhood etc etc”
This took me ages to find, I've been typing things like 'little chanel 4 adverts that come on before a program start' into google for the past half an hour =/ thank you =D
The soundtrack was specially composed for Channel 4 by sound designers at Blue Post Production. The idents were originally only going to have natural sound effects, so the music was put together quite late on.
Neat idea and brilliant execution, good to see that some of the new ident sets we've been seeing have been hidden tributes to their pasts (like BBC1 and the circle, 2 and the Big 2, and now 4 with the logo being made of stuff)
which or where is the one with the bass line that had an odd time feel to it? I think it sounds a bit like Tame Impala. I distinctly remember it having oriental/Blade Runner visuals.. Very slow slightly unpredictable bass guitar line... .. anyone? cheers
Forever burnt into my memory will be the house estate ident and the announcer first on four the welcome return of an old favourite its countdown with des Lyman.
i really like how pleasing these idents are with the visuals and the audio. too bad those british people had to ruin it with their british voices like if i cared what they are airing on 4. i just want to look at random blocks forming a number gosh darn it!
Here I Will Give it a try (Channel 4 "Hedges" ident starts) "Good Morning your Watching Channel Four in 25 Minutes "The Simpsons" but first There's another Question to be asked... With The Hoobs" (Jim Henson's The Hoobs intro Begins)
Is the one in 2:18 a tribute to the Animal Nitrate video? I mean I know the setting is quite British, but the weather, the colors, the camera movent is all so similar.
Ahh the Nostalgia! does anybody know what I mean when I say I'm looking for the ident which had totally electronic music giving a very east london, council flat vibe. and it has a standard rhythm with descending notes. I've been looking for ages ahhh!!

My teenage years.
the memories... all these will be burned into my memory forever from watching the end of the Weakest link and then the Simpsons after one if these indents
Rocktecho omg yes always the simpsons and also watching the end of Paul o Grady show which I thought was so boring, before the simpsons.
I did that as well, but on BBC Two (back when Simpsons was on after Weakest Link)
I remember watching these idents before "Jim Henson's The Hoobs" (Remember That) Started
Hollyoaks in half an hour, up next, the Simpsons, on 4
with you on this m8
An odd sense of warmth watching these again.
The Simpsons then Hollyoaks
6:00pm - The Simpsons
6:30pm - Hollyoaks
The Big Bang Theory
Hollyoaks
Now it's:
The Simpsons: 5:30PM
Ackley Bridge: 6:00
Then channel 4 news
Much better than the latest ones, so atmospheric, effortlessly cool and ambient all at once.

Jo potatoz same:(
Can vouch here in 2020
I love how the announcer says the “it” crowd instead of the IT crowd in some idents 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@Lilly Patterson it was originally pronounced “it” to make it sound ironic and sarcastic
Probably just done it to piss people off tbh
Old school days of watching Lost (until Sky had it), The Simpsons, My Name Is Earl, Countdown etc.
RIP Channel 4 3D idents 31st December 2004 - 29th September 2015
God Bless Channel 4. My favourite British TV station!
00s nostalgia! Love it!
more early 2010s for me tho lol
Why do i like idents so much?
OxygenRBX i was going to reply with an answer but i rly cant think of one. the appeal of idents is so hard to describe bar the usual “it’s nostalgic and reminds me of my childhood etc etc”
I do that's why my big sister always say to me that why do I always watch idents.
My sister say watching idents is stupid but mevI don't find it stupid.
We are all autistics, presumably
Lol me too
when they say James Blunt is releasing his new single 'wise men' you feel really old....
I agree David extremely old. I remember watching this in 2004 gosh how time flies. 20 years later still brings back Nostalgic vibes.

miss em
do they not show any of these anymore ? :(
No, they were replaced a few years back with more abstract idents
Memories of watching coach trip, followed by come dine with me, followed by the Simpsons at 6pm
You have nice eyes Steven. ❤
the burning hay bale one made me tear up
Why?
@@thatdoilnameddom87Smoke inhalation, innit?
It was originally pronounced "it", because it was ironic and sarcastic.
Ahh the good old days memories growing up 🥺💔☹️❤️
I remember those... brings back memories (2004-2015)
These memories... I remember coming home from school seeing these..

Hi just seeing if you’ll reply
I wish someone made a Channel 4 Ident using Minecraft. That would be cool.
The Paul O'Grady Show!!!
RIP
Nostalgic af, just pure vibes
I miss these coming on before Big Brother :(
I like the soundtrack for these idents
channel four is the best channel in uk by far all those wonderful documentaries
the tokyo one is the best with the neon lights, but its not on this vid
These r the best idents on TV at the moment.. I hope they dont get rid of them
I agree
There was one with shipping containers and a really eery music that I loved - anyone have a source for that?
Unfortunately all the soundtracks have no official name
Channel 4 is my fav channel on tv.
gotta love channel 4 - all the best comedy and american imports
eugh the last one always felt depressing
How?
Love these, thanks for uploading them.
Easily the joint best set of idents in the history of the channel alongside the original blocks. Sad we have to get used to logoless idents now.
which or where is the one with the bass line that had an odd time feel to it?
I think it sounds a bit like Tame Impala.
I distinctly remember it having oriental/Blade Runner visuals..
Very slow slightly unpredictable bass guitar line...
.. anyone?
cheers
These idents and the shows they mention literally scream of 2005.
Now on 4, it’s a...
...Space Cadets, on 4.
Lemmy!
My Name Is Earl, on 4.
LEMMY, YOURE BARRED!
I miss these idents way better than today’s weird giant
Anyone remember an ident where it was a washing machine in the middle of a forest, possibly on top of a water fall?
Yessss I’ve been trying to find that one for ages
@@lillypatterson7670 Bro I’m still trying to find it!
Thanks for this upload, love their Idents
I miss these idents, now it's that weird shouting metal thing.
Forever burnt into my memory will be the house estate ident and the announcer first on four the welcome return of an old favourite its countdown with des Lyman.
Anyone know the song at 2:18? Loved it since I was a child and don't know where to start with finding the name of it. Cheers!
Same here but the soundtracks seem to be stock owned
Here’s a link to the song! Thank me later:

Nice... the last thre are ace! i like the fact C4 came back to the original colourful 4 coming together in pieces like in the 80's.
Back when big brother was actually a good show
Really ?
It was always conditioning and brainwashing
I disagree, I have always hated that stupid thing. I wish they would axe it.
@@coolboy5428 Do not forget boring as heck! Nothing even remotely interesting happens on that, I have had more excitement watching paint dry.
Ahhh so much memories of these Idents
I think there's been some new ones since these actually, which is why the construction one (and some others) are missing)
That bowls one reminds me plentifully of my grandparents.
The pylon one really freaks me out
firefighterno1 why
Ye why
Lachlan McIntosh I don’t think he’ll reply bc it’s 11 years old
It will probably be the fact that the 4 was flying on its own
@@lillypatterson7670 tbf pylons usually don’t do that so it is kinda weird
The bowls one was my favourite.
These are so cool. And funny how they all remind me of Lost. Goddamn, why did Sky steal Lost from Channel 4! I have to buy series 3 on DVD!
Very imaginative!
Pure nostalgia
Oh god just parts of the channel 4 logo in the sky
"Anyone any opinions on the number 4, generally?"
Eh yeah. Never understood why people think the 4 on a digital display resembles an 'F'. It doesn't.
I love these
Miss these
Fuck, these were the shit.
No Mean Words!!
@@cromagprophet - The term 'the shit' actually means good. Nothing mean at all.
Yes there way better than today’s weird giant
Wait it's Marcus Bentley from big brother
the best one is at 2:20
I paused them at the perfect time
Does that Geordie fella still work for Channel 4 now that they don't show BB anymore?
how were these done? was it all digitally altered, or were any of these structures actually built?
digitally altered
@@waylander1697 thanks, I've been on the edge of my seat for 14 years waiting to see if anyone might know the answer to this, glad to finally know.
Does anyone know who was made theses?
I would really like to know.
Spider Jerusalem Channel 4 did.

Ahh the Nostalgia!

Btw its not the one at 2:32
Cool
First one my feet big
Jingle pub Channel 4 (2003)
I love this clip. (On a side note: People watch 'My Name is Earl' in the UK? I can't believe that anyone even watches it here)
Wasn't that an advert where the face smoked a Hamlet cigar.
Crazy
Only the British elites will remember these idents
OH NO. A FLOATING 4!!!
I like my name is Earl and the it crowd is a fantastic TV series
Like if the diner ident scared the crap out of you as a kid
Holy whit I loved these as a kid, I especially remember 2:18 and 1:07
The Moving Picture Company.
It's the one that plays from 0.40 that I'd like to identify!
