I have done a little indexing, but I have a lot of questions, and would really like to go back to the first couple and recheck my work. They should have put out a video giving examples when things are exactly how they should be.

The indexing has been a lot of fun. Amazing how well Ancestry’s hand writing technology has worked.

I've proudly reviewed nearly 25,000 name review records! Excited to start searching when it's all complete!

Great project! Wow, some of that writing is just impossible to read, but the handwriting technology is great. I would tell anyone who is having trouble finding their relative to use the wildcard technique. As and Os are sometimes a bit hard to tell apart. Great corrections can still be made after indexing.

    Wow! That is really fast!

After this worthy project, I would like to see a review/reboot of the 1920 census records index. That seems to be the year which I have the most trouble finding people using the index. And in multiple states, not just my home state of Michigan. For now, I'm happy to discover my close relatives using the ED maps and searching page by page.

I indexed several thousand, but in the last day or so it keeps telling me there is nothing available to index when I click on the start indexing tab for multiple states even though Family Search says there are images available to index. 🤷‍♂️. I looked for one of my great-grandmothers on the NARA site. She was supposed to have lived at same address after my great grandfather died in 1947. There happened to be no one home at that apartment, and I couldn't find her on the follow-up sheets 71+. I guess I'll wait and see if she turns up after indexing is complete.

Could you address the overall reliability of indexing and ways to verify it? (Maybe another video topic?). Of course cross checking sources is one way. As well as what one knows about one’s own family. But when indexed records come from other countries are they to be trusted? How do we know? Or do we need to learn the language and be able to read it? (Kurrentschrift anyone?)

The indexing of the 1950 census comes from artificial intelligence rather than people in another country as in the past. But even AI isn't perfect so having volunteers review and make corrections is important.
