  • MotoMan drives the all-new 2016 Bentley Continental GT range on the stunning Trollstigen and Atlantic Roads of Norway’s West Coast. While there, he drives all four versions of the 2016 Bentley Continental GT range - the 502 HP GT V8, the 521 HP GT V8 S, the 582 HP GT W12 and last but not least, the 626 HP GT W12 Speed - and even demonstrates the driving dynamics of one of his favorites on a closed road. Throughout this extended episode, he pops into Bentley’s home - the factory at Crewe, England - to get a detailed look at the changes for 2016 as well as look back at Bentley Continental history . . .

    Great episode and what a location. From Australia. I'll take the Bentley W12. Car Import taxes here in Australia are so outrageous, we basically pay two to three times the retail price charged in the US. Both the W12 and V8 are close to $US400,000. So given that, I'll take the one with the extra cylinders and performance. Nice job as always MotoMan.

    Great channel and always relevant product description. No favorites, just pure facts the way it should be. Great comparisons as well.
    For me in Florida, I'd go for the Conti GT convertible. However, would like the GTS Speed but may need to settle (yeah) for the v8 S model. My wife told me old people drive the Conti's in Fla so will most likely go for the Maserati convertible.

    Was this video sponsored by Norway's tourism board? Because I have a strong desire to visit there now.
    When it comes to which car I would get, I tend to lean more towards driving dynamics, so I would probably be most interested in the V8S. However, let's be honest here, if the driving dynamics are what matter most to you, the you would probably not be looking at a Bentley in the first place. Considering that, I would go the grand tourer route and get one of those big V12s.
    And I'm an American, and as much as we like bitching about taxes here, I know that when it comes to cars we have it easy compared to most of the rest of the world.

    Just changed 2015 Speed to 2016 V8s few month ago.I like V8s but I prefer Speed because of silkyness of the w12 engine.Like you said, it is really depends on the preference. :)P.S.Naim stereo option is good but it's huge unit limitates the trunk space.

    Hi Motoman,
    Just to correct you on one statement in the video regarding Road Toll... Yes, they may have gotten the money back for this road, but they will never quit Road Tool, they just move the booth up the road to start collecting "for the next turn" for about ten years... Then the next... The sad thing is that we pay a lot more then we get back. They build some nice roads, but they haven't learned to how to maintain them properly. Roads in Norway are in general pretty bad, nationally! Sad! Hope you enjoyed Norway ;-)

    I would go for the GT V8 S Coupe. It has got better sound, better weight distribution and is cheaper. There is really nothing that makes the W12 more attractive besides that you know its the fastest and the most expensive.
    Me, from Germany
    Yearly tax on W12: 606€
    V8: 390 €

    Great review, big fan of Bentley's and Porsche. Do like the details in your reviews. Complete, is the word that comes to mind. 2 questions for you...? 1) when is the new gt out? and is it a new facelift 2017? 2) which would you buy and why..... a Bentley Continental GT Speed 2017 or a Rolls Royce Wraith Black badge 2017?

    • @MotoManTV
      @MotoManTV  Před 8 lety +1

      If I'm honest . . . neither. I would do a Mulsanne (czcams.com/video/Za-zCvJqtUM/video.html). However, if pushed for a between the Bentley and the Wraith - a V8 S Bentley. I do like the way the Rolls looks but not the way it drives.

  • @bob808
    @bob808 Před 9 lety

    I'd love a V8S. The sound is awesome, and I like the idea that its 'sporty'. But, not the latest version as reviewed here, I'm not a fan of the fender vents and the front bumper. The previous V8S was/is perfect!
    Well there is one HUGE problem, no sunroof. Not even a glass roof is available. Bentley needs to rectify that, stat! (And no, I wouldn't take the convertible, they look a bit weird with the roof up.)
    Here in Australia though, if I spec'd a V8S Coupe to my taste, I'd be looking at AU$500,000. So it's definitely a 'lotto' car for a regular guy like me.

    I live inn norway. Where there is more tesla's than golf's. The bentley kost about 3 milion kr. A tesla kost 800 000 kr. But i would have purchased the w12, because of the sound it make when starting up! Wich i love more than anything! When you are first going to buy a bentley, buy the best!

    Great review as usual. A question :
    The bentley or the FF or The bentley or the F12?
    I'm a big fan of this car the Bentley special the W12. I could include the new S-class but not the same league just because of value but it can be the NSX of this group. I love V12. I 'm from Haiti, living Montreal.

      +Paul Edmond Hey Paul . . . Thanks for the feedback on the app . . . as to your question . . . All things being equal, I would personally go with the F12 however that is hard to say because the F12 is *considerably* more than a Continental . . .

  • @RockyRacoon66

    The v8 models utilise the hot v layout for their turbos, which is great for throttle response but bad for cooking turbos. Treat the v8 engines with great care, never drive them hard from cold and always drive them gently before shutting down. Failure to do this and you will cook your turbos. This applies to some Audi engine models too.

  • @slabsides1
    @slabsides1 Před 9 lety

    I'd go with the V-8s. It has nearly the same power as the W-12 but much more athletic and fun to drive for about $75,000 less here in the U.S. There really is no reason to buy the W-12 anymore except bragging rights that you have more cylinders than the car next to you.

    Norway is an amazing country & have plenty of breath taking views! One of my friends is a Norwegian & she used to post cool pictures all the time, I sure do love to visit Norway one day. I was wondering if you gonna mention that bridge . . . ;)
    back to the Bentley, I've seen a supporter of the Continental GT since it launched back in 03 ... But I'm not particularly fond of the new changes ... It feels like they changed it for the sake of change., the front end could've been better & the side vent is ... Frankly unnecessary (looks cool on the Spur but not on the GT) ... Maybe I'll change my mind when I see it in person.
    I think the 2012-2013 Continental GTSpeed is the best looking one so far.
    My pick would be the GTspeed Coupe, followed by the W12 & the V8 S at last ....
    well, as I mentioned before, here in Saudi Arabia, 5% of the car's value (already included in the sticker price), $80 for the plates & that's it .... You are good to go.
    now, since you drove the new Continental line & the S6x coupe .... Which one would you take?
