- The Batman director Matt Reeves recently agreed to talk in detail with IGN about his film's biggest spoiler: the introduction of this new Bat-universe's Joker, played here by Eternals actor Barry Keoghan. Keoghan's Joker also appears in the Arkham Asylum deleted scene released by Warner Bros.

I'm actually glad they cut the scene, because if they showed him in the middle of the movie, people would just think about Joker and ignore Paul Dano's excelent Riddler performance. I'm glad they included scene at the end of the movie, since Riddler is already captured, and it gives us small teaser for future movies.

If you're talking about in relation to Batmans usual duality then no he didn't, like AT ALL. Bruce is an emo boy and he does absolutely nothing in the movie as Bruce. They were going for their own spin so it's whatever but it is by far not accurate to what he usually is.

This was incredibly insightful and shows how thoughtful Reeves was in deliberating in what to and not to include. However, this makes me wonder if the facepainted street gang, seen in the film, are meant to be the Joker's gang, since he's apparently already been active, according to Reeves' statements here.

It's the most accurate portrayal of how Gotham is supposed to be. The corrupt officials in places you can't think of and how they've eluded the judiciary or have em in their pockets. A different vision that'll get the hit in the next part. 1st part just felt like a setup & Bats character ark becoming more mature.

Barry Keoghan is such an underrated actor. His performance in The Killing Of A Sacred Deer is one of the greatest from a young man I've ever seen. Along with Dunkirk, he is one of the most exciting actors at work today...

Matt Reeves did a sterling job with his iteration of "The Batman". Robert Pattinson's portrait of a younger, emotionally conflicted Batman who is finding his feet as the world's greatest detective is definitely intriguing to watch on screen. "The Batman does a great job of giving the audience something that we've never seen before. Obviously there will be a lot of people 'hating on' this movie in the coming weeks, but such is the nature of audience opinions these days. To me, watching it as a long standing comic book fan, the movie felt true to the source material and gave the impression that the director, producer and cast were fully invested into creating a unique and attention grabbing portrait of Gotham city, it's villains and the Dark Knight himself. Kudos to the creative team behind this film - in my mind, the movie sits at a deserved place in the top three and best Batman films of all time, second only to Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" - Obviously Heath Ledger was iconic in his role as the Joker and even "The Batman" 's (2022) Riddler villain can never touch that.

what a hell of a scene!!!!!!
Honestly. The length is debatable. Where most have issue with the pacing and length. This movie did justice for batman. The acting. The references. The story. The brutality of it all made all, 9/10. Nothing is ever a 10/10. Yes. A grounded batman. But to be able to have bruce narrate along with us as the viewer jumping into year 2. Beautifully done. Keaton was early comic book version batman. Pattinson is grounded but the portrayal of grit, brute, determination, and self defining. This is the batman. Grinned from the start, all the way to the end.
Loads of things are 10/10. Doesnt mean its perfect, just means its among the best there is out there.

I’d actually like the Joker to be held back for a while. I’d love to see a film tackle some villains we haven’t seen or haven’t seen much of so far. Hush, Court of Owls/Talon, Talia Al Ghul, Firefly, Clock King, Ventriloquist and Scarface, Black Mask, Calendar Man…
Maybe talia or her father, if not them then the court of owls would be nice and those are my preferences. It would be nice to do things differently and not feature villains other movies have already explored.

I'd rather have Joker 2 exploring the continuation of the joker's story. Who will he meet at the asylum
Joker should be the “Thanos” of this Batman universe. Be in the background and have his presence felt but build up to him. In the meantime breath some life into the other awesome villains that won’t get compared to Heath Ledger. Pyg, Hugo Strange, Hush, Court of Owls, Zsasz, Puppet Master, Deathstroke, Scarecrow, MadHatter, Freeze, etc. Give audiences something new and give your actors a chance to leave their stamp on a character like Dano and Farrel just did. You rock Matt!
I've said this since the Joker died in 1989. You should never kill that character, and he should always be felt.
Riddler was a perfect villain to show the detective and intellectual skills of batman and Penguin was perfect for showing his brutality and fighting skills. But on man for joker batman needs all he has that's the best part of joker and still he can't get over joker. Joker is must need in 2nd or 3rd movie.

Where Nolan's TDK was arguably the best "film", The Batman was the best "Batman" film. It included all the best elements from all the classics such as the Arkham game series, TBAS, and many comics.

Reeves doesn’t know if Joker will be the next big bad villain, but he exists in this universe which creates speculation.
The existence of Falcone and Penguin and even Marony begs the question, is Sionis (Black Mask) gonna be there?
The Death of the DA means that Harvey Dent could make a appearance.
“Fear is a tool” can be Scarecrow
The vial that Batman used in the last fight can be Venom meaning Bane is in this universe too.
We might not see each and every rogue, but the very existence of these Easter eggs creates the speculation that there is a massive amount of avenues that the director can take with this series.

You my, man, have my respect. You surpassed my expectations which was pretty high to begin with. Poetic cinema in its true sense.
The people complaining about this Batman not being perfect in terms of play boy persona and efficiency, are the same people who complained that Tom hollands Spider-Man wasn’t perfect in homecoming and no way home to only realise the trilogy as a whole was his origin. Give it time and enjoy the process
This is just the starting of something extraordinary... the movie hit all the notes possible for a year two Batman ... perfectly executed... everyone played their part so well and Pattinson blew it out of the park .. going to watch again next weekend at the movies ..

It's always amazing to see a director who's so passionate about the source material. This, this is what DC have been missing for almost a decade. They've got it right a few times with Shazam, Wonder Woman, Joker and Suicide Squad 2, but it's everything else has mostly been a miss. Hopefully, WB will continue to hire more directors who respect the comics and more importantly, competent at their job.

This should be a five part mini series. I’d love to have Court of Owls behind the scenes like SPECTRE in the James Bond universe revealed in the last film with set up for more films and tv shows. So much potential with this, way better than the “Snyder” verse. It’s a shame Henry Cavill was wasted as Superman. I’d love to see Matt Reeves tackle that character in a soft reboot.. maybe in a few years when this series is truly established.

Removing that scene not only avoided the focus being taken off the riddler, but also makes that final scene so much more of a teaser. It’s hinted but never outright said it’s the joker. And that had so much more impact.

That was the one scene I'd have cut out from the movie. Felt misplaced, almost like a post credits scene forced into the movie

Hush is teased in the movie, the Elliott family is mentioned and Riddler notes "HUSH" on them.
Personally wasn't a fan of him leaving that scene in at the end. Its something that goes better unsaid, because we've come to know the Gotham underground world and the power struggle for it. Catwoman's warning was enough for me but overall loved this interpretation.
