Up until the Early 70s a lot of groups had a similar problem when playing Japan, inc. the Beatles.... The audience was carefully controlled, even to screaming & standing etc . And with the technology at the time (the Amps; etc.) All the deformities could be heard (wrong notes; out of tune guitars etc) Whereas , elsewhere,, those things couldn't be heard cause of screaming crowds.
Davy sounds great. Not one bad note. These guys were amazing
I WONDER IF their performances in Japan are restorable from the standpoint of removing the voices of the lJapanese voice-overs by the tv show's off-screen hosts. The band sounds pretty sharp and these are among the last recordings done with all band mates playing together in their original era prior to Peter leaving. PLUS also features Davy playing bass on some of the soungs, which allows them a fuller sound, with Peter on keyboards instead of bass. (Not sure the screams of the fans in the audience are removable, BUT they are part of the history of the times when they were super popular. )

Peter was great on bass. Somehow Circle Sky live never made it onto Head soundtrack which leaves You Just May be the One as apparently his only bass contribution on original Monkees albums. It’s a shame he didn’t get to display in the studio the bass skills so evident on live recordings. In direct comparisons I prefer Peter’s playing. I really like your channel. I have a question. I just bought the 50th Anniversary "Monkees" boxed set on colored vinyl. I'm playing it now and the songs sound like they're a half second (or more) faster. Have you listened to it yourself? I've looked at reviews, but mostly people who made videos about it were just showing the set off. I LISTENED to it. So far, everything is too fast to a point where the vocals are higher pitched and the drums are too fast. Thoughts?
