How To Change Radiator Coolant At Home | Coolant changing | Best coolant for car | Queen on wheels

Coolant changing can be done by yourself if you have some time to spare.The effectiveness of the coolant deteriorates over time, especially if you top up with water regularly.Thus coolant need to be changed in correct intervals.The recommended change intervals vary widely thus check the owners manual of your car .
Before starting lets discuss abouts coolant.
Coolants are used to reduce or maintain the temperature of the engine.Your car’s engine produces a lot of heat when it is running and must be cooled continuously to avoid engine damage, cause engine is a self destructive system.Most of the people are unaware of the importance and makeup of coolant that they use water instead of coolant.So lets discuss about this topic.Using water instead of coolant is not a good idea because water has a less boiling point (100°C)and high freezing point (0°C)when compared to a coolant . Apart from that water also has minerals in it (nowadays it has more contaminants also).Thus water is corrosive to mental parts that have come in direct contact with it.Using water in cooling system gradually cause sludge buidup thus blocking the system ,this in turn leads to engine overheating and thereby more serious issues.Being a heat carrying agent, the properties of the coolant will eventually brake down in the long run that is why it is need to be replaced.Coolants are categorised into three groups, namely Inorganic acid technology (IAT) organic additive technology (OAT) and Hybrid organic additive technology (HOAT). Coolants are available in a variety of colours but it has nothing to do with the characteristic of the liquid. Efficiency of a coolant is dependent on its concentration of MEG-mono ethylene glycol.Mono ethylene glycol is being used as an active ingredient in coolant.We can do a lot of experiments to check the MEG content in a coolant.The most effective way to know the meg concentration is done by using a refractometer.In this video we are using Torrent coolant.
How to change coolant ? Before starting the process make your that your engine is cool.If it is hot the pressure inside the coolant systems cause the hot fluid to splash when you open the radiator cap.So always make sure to check this first.Once your engine is cool open the radiator cap and inspect for visual quality of the coolant.If you see any rust on the cap or any other type debris in the coolant it is advisable to flush the cooling system with a radiator flush.And also clean the expansion tank.
Inorder to drain the coolant look for the drain plug under the radiator and unscrew it with a plier.Remember to place a drain pan beneath the radiator before you loosening the plug.Once you completed the draining do flushing if needed and refill the coolant in correct ratio.Dont forget to put the drain plug back before filling.If you are confused about the coolant capacity premix the coolant in correct ratio before refilling.Refill the expansion tank upto the full marking line then fill up the radiator.Pour the coolant slowly to avoid air trapping inside the cooling system.Once you are done by this start the engine and check the coolant level and top up the coolant if needed.Also check for any leaks .And finally, yes we are done.So next time when its time to change the coolant of your car do it by yourself✨

My car has blue colour coolant in its radiator, so should I go for blue colour coolant?
Are all blue colour coolants of the same grade? People say that coolants are not classified based on colour so it's really confusing. Incase of blue coolant, can I use shell premixed 50/50 ratio coolant?

കൂളന്റ് പൂർണ്ണമായും Air കളഞ്ഞ് fill ചെയ്തു. ശേഷം ഞാൻ വൈകിട്ട് ചെക്ക് ചെയ്തപ്പോൾ വീണ്ടും കൂളന്റ് ലെവൽ താഴ്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞാൻ വീണ്ടും Fill ചെയ്ത ശേഷം അടച്ച് വെച്ചു. അടുത്ത ദിവസം ഞാൻ വീണ്ടും നോക്കിയപ്പോൾ ഇതേ അവസ്ഥ.
1.എന്താണ് ഇതിന് കാരണം?
2. ഇത് കൊണ്ട് പ്രശ്നം ഉണ്ടോ?
താഴത്തെ cap -ൽ നിന്നും Leackage ഒന്നും തന്നെ ഇല്ല.
പക്ഷെ വണ്ടി ON ആക്കുന്ന സമയത്ത് coolant തിരികെ വരുന്നത് കാണാം.
ഇനിയും അപ്പോ Refill ചെയ്യണോ?

എന്റെ i20 ഡീസൽ വണ്ടിയുടെ coolant ലോസ് ആകുന്നു. പല വർക്ഷോപ്പുകളിലും കാണിച്ചു. ആർക്കും അതിന്റെ കാരണം കണ്ടുപിടിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. Leak ഇല്ല എന്നാണ് അവർ പറയുന്നത്. ഫുൾ ടാങ്ക് coolant നിറച്ചാൽ ഒരു 100 KM ഓടുമ്പോൾ coolant മുഴുവൻ തീർന്നിരിക്കും. പരിഹാരം നിർദേശിക്കാമോ
