- Come into ALDI with me see what I bought for a week of groceries for my family of 5. I always use items from my pantry/freezer as well. I share my dinner meal plan at the end.
Also, I do NOT buy my groceries exclusively at ALDI, but they're the first place I try and my favorite to shop at.

Major food shortages this year. I hope people have prepared.
You mentioned you paid $5 for the person ahead of you? That was very nice of you.
She had prunes that fell on my side and we noticed after they started ringing me up. I figured easier for all involved to just have me pay and let her have them. Accidental kindness LOL
My mother’s attitude toward me (very picky eater) was “I’m not a short order cook, you don’t like what’s for dinner, make your own.” So, I did! Generally it was Chicken Noodle Soup, or Bologna Sandwich or similar…I learned a lot about how to cook from her, and she was Depression/WWII era…you ate what we had, you never threw anything away, didn’t buy processed/frozen meals, and you ate produce that was in season. Yes, it was from scratch, and she worked full time on top of everything else. Not every one’s way of living, but I learned how to cook, store and save from her, and that will hopefully do us well this coming year. I don’t like not finding my favorite thing at the grocery either, but it is what it is. Get something else. Worse things in life have happened. Not slamming you, we’re used to things being a different way…but it’s not that way any more. Generations before us did it, we can do it, too.
I am old school. If you cook and they do not like it, they it a sandwich. No snack food until the sandwich is eaten.
We ate what was served for dinner.
I do NOT make separate meals; left overs is the option if they don't like dinner (and nothing snacky later until dinner with veggie is eaten). I try to be mindful of everyone... but some weeks I just want to quit LOL.
I'm happy to see that you "un-thaw" your frozen foods! It must be a Michigan thing. When I moved out of state people were like...un-thaw???? Seriously love your videos. I can see what's out there without going out there!! Thanks for what you do,
Julie
You either freeze or thaw... what is "unthaw" ? Refreeze?
@Debbie Reed In our household in Grand Rapids Michigan, we always said "un-thaw" when we were thawing a product. I have no idea where it came from. My mom has two masters degrees...? We also "un-rolled" the car windows. It was just so fun to hear another Michigander use that term! When I lived out of state, I realized we actually thawed foods. Just a fun kid memory!!
@@jonkirt1470 it's stupid
Jackie...I was about to have a breakdown many years ago. Had to get some daily stres off of myself...I put a loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter and a jar of jelly...when they complain...just say..."dinner is on the counter...get after it"!!! LOL When my girls got around that age...I quit cooking (geared toward them) every night and meal planning...I would make what me and the hubs liked and if they wanted it...they could join...if not, they could join us but make themselves a sammich!!! Hope the party is fun for your daughters...tatchoes sounds great!
I wish I could do this but my daughter's father acts like saying "you cook what I eat or just don't eat" is the worst kind of child abuse but is fine with feeding her pizza and lots of sugar everyday. Not only is her pickiness driving me insane, the way he continues to sabotage me trying to change her eating habits is too. Pray for me cause it really is maddening.
I feel your pain,I have a 15 year old that is so picky it drives me crazy!🤦 I went to Aldi yesterday, and spent $139.73,and everything I basically got had increased! Aldi is my favorite store, but I came home and compared prices with Walmart, and they were cheaper! Things are ridiculous at all stores!🤗
My aldis is cleaning out their BB Turkey at 50¢ a pound. I got a huge one for $7.75 and am cooking it Friday.
I didn't notice meat sales this week, but I wouldn't be surprised if they start!
I went to my Aldi's last Sunday and the Complete Opposite situation I was actually Amazed how Stocked Up They Were compared to the past few months
I think Mondays are rough for grocery shopping, seems like in my area stores are wiped out from the weekend. Just my experience
that could be, too!
Agree, I find most stores look depleted on mondays.
Totchos sound so tasty! Happy Birthday to your daughter!
I got two bags of salad . They come with dressing and nuts, bananas, cherries , oranges , raisins , cheese curls , bacon for my son two packs $2.99 each.
Lol yes I did buy Pepitas at Aldi because of you! And I saw Blessed Jess here on CZcams is eating cottage cheese with Pepitas because of you. It's a thing 😂
The Aldi stores by me have not had onion soup mix in months ~ jealous to see it in your store!
I switched to whole grain Aldi bread and it not only fills me up, it fills me up much longer! All the fiber and nutrients in it are so good for you!
I 100% would try but my pickiest (HUSBAND) only likes white bread... I keep a rye loaf in the freezer for myself and all other only eat white.
@@GroceryAddict Rye bread is so good! We don't all eat the same bread either. This is just something that I was kind of surprised about Not sure we ever had it before.
🌟Hi Aldi prices are going up fast 😢 maybe because they have been advertising with ADs Lol💟
I went to Harris teeter today and I only got 21 items and spent $57 😫 got alot of fruit and veggies a few pasta , almond milk, dairy free cream cheese was only $3.99. I used a $10/$40 from lidl too. My kids picky too. I got a few packs of chicken thighs. Thanks for sharing
I spend more at Aldi then I do at the everyday grocery store.
It seems to be more each week!
Happy Birthday to your daughter!!
Thank you!
I was at Aldi (SWFL) yesterday and though it was a ZOO with vacationers, the shelves were not nearly as stocked as usual, MANY bare spots, unusual!!!! Maybe because it was a Sunday? crowded? Again unusual!!!!
Sunday is always busy here. Your ALDI was probably full of Michigan Snow birds LOL
I also love pepitas! Hope my Aldi's have some s I'm on my last bag. I also only eat the Hebrew National hotdogs in my opinion they are the best! Hope you have a great wk and Happy Birthday to your daughter!
Welcome to my world, this video is exactly what happens to me every time I enter ALDIs. I used to shop every single week, but, after being disappointed week after week, I Now go much less.
It is frustrating when it isn't just an item missing. Hopefully doesn't become regular here, too :|
There's stores are a hit-and-miss and groceries just like all the other stores their trucks deliver what they get and hopefully the next truck has it
We bought some strawberries at Aldi last week for $2.49. They were absolutely perfect and tasted amazing. We went back a few days later and they were either not ripe or moldy. Such a shame.
It’s sometimes hit or miss for us at Aldi, but we love the take & bake baguettes, sliced cheese, and the pepperoni calzones.
the baguettes are among our favorites, too!
Been there with meal frustration. I literally went too a one pot system, beans,Mac and cheese, soups, stew, bread etc, it worked , they missed the plated meals.. but now just us two,and my spouse is even more picky. It's become a unwelcome chore. He doesn't eat out or processed. It's never dull.
Call a friend and go out to eat without him- and don't cook anything for him- see how fast he changes his mind
I've threatened too. He won't even acknowledge what I say. . Lol
My spouse is very picky too on some things, so makes it hard!!
Happy 13th Birthday to your daughter🎊🎂🎁🧁 . My son is (12) I have a 19 year old girl and a 22 year old girl her birthday is Thursday.
They were out of the most random things! Nice haul though. ☺
Vegetarian family and I get Go Macro bars when their on sale as they can be expensive. Also use hemp hearts added to pasta after cooking as a topping or my salads. Their kind of like sunflower seeds but on their own not much taste and blend into food. I also pick up Chia/Flax seeds at Aldi to place into things. Wish Aldi would start selling the hemp hearts. Have a son with autism going to be 19 in April and he's having to switch to vegetarian over pandemic we found out he has same allergies that caused me not able to eat meat and other things. He's going through the fit period himself right now no don't want that after I make it. Yet when I make grocery list I get "whatever you want mom" and he vanishes.
I literally ask everyone for input each week... just like your son, little input! I appreciate your input; we will try hemp hearts!! and look for the go Macro bars
My ALDIs, 30 minutes away is always scarce. No matter when you go
ugh that's frustrating, at least I only have a few minutes drive.
OH! So lucky! I haven't seen the pickle popcorn in so long!
I was delighted! My son, too!
Happy Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 Jacks Love 💘 💗 💕❤ 💖 💓 💕
love their bacon...cheaper in your store...
It's consistently so good!
Happy birthday young lady
Thank you!
I still get the majority of my weekly food at Aldis. Our local Supermarket in NY is ShopRite or Hannafords . There I buy meats and sale paper products and whatever loss leaders they have that week. All of our stores are on one main road, food prices just keep climbing though 😮
Yes! I have all mine in the same area... and I feel bad, I take advantage of the loss leaders as well. Gets me in the door, but not much else goes usually.
❤️❤️
When I was young I ate what was put in front on the table even if I didn't like it I had to eat a little. If I said I didn't like it I got scolded big time! If I had kids I would be the same way. My mother would say she's not a short order cook! She was the same way with her grandchildren.
Looks like you had a rough shopping trip.
Hope next week's shopping is better!
Prices are rising way too fast! It's crazy!
I do NOT make separate meals; left overs is the option if they don't like dinner (and nothing snacky later until dinner with veggie is eaten). I try to be mindful of everyone... but some weeks I just want to quit LOL.
I hope next week is more successful, too!
@@GroceryAddict You're a good Mom! 👍🏻🥰
Same here. Eat what I serve or go hungry. No offense but it’s No wonder kids today feel so “entitled “
its shopping time
yesss!! 🛍
I must of been lucky! I could not get rotelle, which I was surprised but that was the only thing that I couldn’t get
Yay! glad you had luck!
In some countries people eat rice everyday.
I went to Aldi this weekend and had the exact same experience. I ended up having to go to Walmart to get most of my groceries. I'm hoping it was just an off week. And after watching you buy that plain water so many times I finally tried it. Now I'm addicted. Of course they didn't have any this week lol.
Don’t you love it?? Spend the money,meal plan,shop,cook,clean up….and they complain! 😂 mom life…..
We must have the same life LOL
When my grandkids use to come visit in the summer I felt like a short order cook. Trying to please everyone’s likes. Know how you feel.
I try very hard not to do that... it can be exhausting!
You don't "unthaw" you either freeze or thaw...
hope they mark that banza pizza way down. wanna try it but not for $8
Mayo is so much more expensive this year. Egg&oil so it figures. You should have gone with the spinach not cut up iceberg-that won't last. And chili/no beans go really well on taco's instead of ground beef.
I like the chili idea!! I would have 100% done spinach... but my 13 year old is the pickiest of the kids and I KNOW wouldn't touch it. Since it's for her party I am hoping the lettuce stays (date is 02/02... if it spoils before the party I WILL be taking it back!!)
I got everything crossed that they have pasta at ours. They've been out and I'm down to almost nothing!
...dont you have any LIDL in your area? they made first place for best produce in Germany many times over the last decade...
Good haul. Is there salsa good? Maybe cause of all the football get together is why it was short on stuff
could be!! goo thought!
we like their salsa!!!
Aldi needs a better milk system. It’s a rare time I see a gallon without oozing milk.
I've been a victim of that before!
I didn’t get a choice of what’s on the table eat it or starve
It's the shortage that's starting. Picking kids huh, I tell my kids if they are hungry they will eat what I make unless they are more than welcome to get in the kitchen and make dinner for everyone because it's not just themselves that need to eat too and we eat as a family. After that being said nobody offers to cook and just eats what's in front of them.
What about adding extra dairy products or things like nuts / peanut butter etc to her diet.
She goes in cheese phases LOL but we always have black beans and pistachios/cashews which she does like!
30 cent increase on the 99 cent bread is greater than 30% inflation!
YES 😭 sounds silly to be sad on $0.30, but it all adds up and then week after week!
They have to rasie their prices like other stores do
How do you like the fruit from Imperfect Foods? (I assume it's good or you wouldn't be ordering it!) Don't you find it kind of expensive, though?
I do like it, but try to order when I have coupons (they send them via email after i cancel!) OR referral bonuses. Then the prices are competitive.
@@GroceryAddict Hmmm ... guess I'll have to cancel so I can get some coupons!
Aldi's is one the the cheapest stores to get some of your groceries and a very happy birthday to your daughter and God bless you and your family always and forever 😊👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Yes! Thank you! Blessings to you, too!
I went to my local ALDIS and had the same problem.....
better luck next time to us both!
@@GroceryAddict One of their meat guys told me that IF the public knew how much meat was GOING TO COST moving forward, people would be purchasing those big freezers and freezing the stuff. That is the same thing the farmers have been telling me. $20-50 for meat, across the board by the end of this year... but they are alreayd selling their meats for almost $20 at my local farmer's market! yikes!
I am not criticizing here, but you pay for the food, you cook the food, so your children should eat what you fix without complaint. When they are grown and working then they can buy what they want. Iwas taught that you ate what was put before you, with a greatful heart.
I do NOT make separate meals; left overs is the option if they don't like dinner (and nothing snacky later until dinner with veggie is eaten). I try to be mindful of everyone... but some weeks I just want to quit LOL. And I agree... I often tell my kids "it doesn't have to be your favorite to eat it"
It can cause very unhealthy habits forcing your children to eat things they have trued and don't like. I literally have arfid due to what my mother did when upset over little things. Then I decided to not eat a damn thing since me eating was always a problem. She's doing an amazing job keeping the comfort of her children in mind unlike some people. So don't come at her. And you can try and justify how you were raised but times have changed and disorders have been discovered time to treat children like they are their own people because they are and they can say they don't like something after doing the bite rule.
If I would have complained about what was for supper....guess who would go without! These kids are so picky...my kids NEVER were...they knew better! Today's kids are going to have a hard time when they get out in the REAL world....not everyone is going to pamper them like babies!!
If your UNTHAWING Soup your freezing soup. Your thawing soup.
Don't be that person, just enjoy the video
If you stick around, I flub my words often :)
@@rosegroshek1218 I don't even know what they're trying to say...!🤔😵💫
Aldi White bread sucks smelly socks!
This made me LOL
If you are the one making the meal and buying the food, they shouldn't complain...sorry your Aldi trip was kind of a bust.
I wish they didn't complain... they deal with it... but not always happily :)
OMG, $1.29
I know 😭
I usually do aldi then do Walmart or publix after because inevitably aldi doesn’t sell everything and might be out of some things. I’d rather do the cheaper store first.
Yep, I try to get all else on Wal-Mart pick up unless can't get to $35 free pick up.
