- Further to my previous videos about Sculpey III, DAS oven bake clay and The Craft Place clay, I have been told that Scupley III is very brittle so I thought I'd put a few brands of clay to the test.
I hope you enjoy the video - if you do, please subscribe.

So the takeaway is use the clay ideal for your project. When you need a harder product use the sculpey 3 need flexibility use the fimo.
I just stick with Fimo - It's a good all rounder
I don't like Sculpey III. It's way too soft & sticky. It also breaks apart and crumbles after baking. I honestly love mixing Original Sculpey with Premo to get a decent clay.
This is exactly the comparison I was looking for, thank you very much!
Glad to be of help!
This is the perfect experiment. Thank you 🙏
Thanks for sharing this simple yet well thought through and presented test.
I found it very informative.
Best regards.
iv used super sculpey and really like it
No mention of Cernit? I've never heard of Craft Place before...
Cernit is not readily available in the shops here
I used sculpey III and I've tried all kinds of heat and time settings every single bake it comes out brittle and breaks easily. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong 😭
Sculpey 2 or III? III is known to be brittle.
@@CurioByBSpokeDesigns sorry I meant to say sculpey III
@@KathBorup Yes. It's known to be brittle and breaks easily
i never use sculpey III, always sculpey premo or sculpey souffle, fimo, or cernit.
Thanks for this comparison.
Thank you!
what about the other Sculpey products? the soft, medium hard and super sculpey variations?, but after this i might have to consider buying some fimo clay for my projects
The other variants aren't readily available here - I tested this one as it was sold in local craft stores
Thank you for this information, I’m new to polymer clay, bought Fimo soft, baked at temperature stated on package
But cured for one hour , and it still broke 👎🏻 any advise plz 🇬🇧
I've never had any issues with Fimo Soft but you may have over baked it.
Which fimo?
Fimo Soft
So what’s the best for making jewelry?
I prefer Fimo
Hello, have you tried sculpey premo?
I tend to try out what is readily available, which Premo isn't here. I must order some though.
How long and what temperature did you bake them at?
I baked them according to the instructions on the packets. Fimo was baked at a slightly lower temperature than the others 110 degrees rather than 130 degrees.
May I ask for the colour name of the Fimo one? It's exactly what I'm looking out for.
If i remember it was Lilac
Did you use fimo soft or professional
I use Fimo Soft as it was the only one available in my local stores.
What do you think of FIMO kids clay?
To be honest, I have never used it. I'm not sure it's available in the UK
I see. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer!
Sculpey was good like a hard rubber but now it is rock hard it's Crap
My sculpey 3 breaks so easy
....I mean who is going to be making things that are meant to have that much flex to them???
Plenty of people - or Cosclay would be out of business....
Bias much?
