Sabrina, So glad to watch this interview. I am an 82 year old proud American Jew. Like most young Jewish kids who came of age during the 1950s and 60s I was a strong Zionist supporter. Shortly after Bobby Kennedy was assassinated, I had a long conversation with a Jordanian/Palestinian classmate. While that one conversation did not sway my support for Israel it did open my mind to an entirely different narrative. It wasn't until many years later after the massacres of the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in Lebanon and the unlawful invasion of that sovereign country that I began to seriously question my support of what was obviously a racist, apartheid regime. Since then, I have become a supporter of the Palestinian people, the resistance, and the right of return. I support a one state solution from the river to the sea of democracy, equality, religious freedom with no religion more equal than any other, one person one vote and a truth and reconciliation commission to resolve all of the issues of harm to the indigenous people of Palestine from 1948 and before.

Go and read about the country’s modern day history (pre-revolution) for yourself. They have been made to suffer under the weight of sanctions ever since they overthrew the US backed Shah and his corrupt and murderous regime. It sounds to me like the Iranian population is being subjected to an awful lot of propaganda from BBC World.
And it strikes me as rather bizarre that some people would take such a great interests in trying to direct the lives and affairs of other people. I suppose this may sound like something very tangential, but when I hear of this sort of thing, I am reminded of that "tears for fears" (I was never a fan) song "Everybody wants to rule the world".
And well I feel I want to publically reject this assertion, and state that no, only sociopaths and self-centered, selfish people with an immature and underdeveloped psyche, and very foolish people, want to rule the world. And I think it is probably regrettable, and perhaps somewhat degenerate, to promote the idea that "everyone wants to rule the world" instead of promoting the opposite idea, that people with healthy, mature and well-balanced psyches do not attempt to deceive, manipulate or foist their will on others.
    Cheers, peace and love

For real though, I have huge respect for Prof Marandi and honestly appreciate and enjoy the long answers.
There's a lot of us in the West that either can't afford to attend lectures, or have wasted their money in Zed run institutions, so a bit of long form modern Persian knowledge is very welcome.
