The fact that this song didn't get a music video is a crime. I feel like Souk Eyes and Fireflies could've really had something beautiful- those two songs and ESPECIALLY this one just feel like one in a million to me. Tranz video was still great and it was still a great song, It just hurts a little we never got to see this song in the art form it deserves. Such a beautiful song by an amazing band.

Honestly this feels too different but in like a good way. I don't think I could really compare between this album and Demon Days or Plastic Beach, it's almost like comparing 2 completely different bands.
I'm actually glad that Gorillaz' style has developed. They aren't Feel Good Inc. and Clint Eastwood anymore, they're just Gorillaz. I'm so glad that they've gotten to where they are now, and I don't care if anyone compares their music from today to their most popular music. People develop, bands develop, Gorillaz has developed, and that's okay. I like the old and the new.

The reason we broke up is because she passed away on September 10th of last year. I'm thankful for Gorillaz for both bringing me closer to her and helping me cope with her death, I'm glad to report that one year from her death I am pre-ordering the new Gorillaz Album, it seems almost perfect that the day I was gonna celebrate her death and be depressed all day, Gorillaz would give me a reason to keep going on. And 2d looks VERY sad in most of the artwork on that album and appears with his shoelaces untied (and it was revealed in an interview that Murdoc is the one tying his shoelaces). And Murdoc when he got out of prison said on his twitter that the band channeled the feelings for his absence into the music, he said "it's not all about me, I'm not self-centered, but the proofs is there."

But the thing being, it's Gorillaz we are talking about. They don't have a "style" that will identify them. So in Humanz, they wanted variety of music, artists, lyrics. Yea, there was some complaints about the album not being how Gorillaz used to sound like, because there was more collaboration between different artists. That's what made the Humanz album so unique in its own way. They had variety. Personally, I liked the Humanz album, it was really well done.
Wouldn't say underapprecioated because Demon Days is literally one of the most iconic albums in the music sphere- even people who don't listen to Gorillaz know the album art. Iirc Feel Good INC was even used as a promotion for the iPod back then. What's surreal is that their new albums aren't as popular, and it is kinda sad.

It's strange, I always end up getting emotional listening to this one. Something about the melody and the lyrics has moved my soul. Like, yeah at first it might sound funky and carefree, but if you listen longer to it, there's something sad about it.

When we actually learn 2D's friendship with Murdoc is the same as the one between Damon and Graham in Blur.. how Master Albarn, can you do that and still, write one of the last masterpieces of Gorillaz. Simply brilliant.
Four years later, it still feels unreal this came out. I was so hyped when I first heard humility right when school was out for the summer, and even when I heard the rest of the album later that year I honestly didn't think this would be my favorite for unexpected reasons, cause right when the summer was fading out and I started my first year in highschool my gf at the time had broken up with me, a few months before our two year anniversary. Little to say it broke me, a lot. I was devastated, I wondered for weeks what went wrong and if I really was the reason they broke it off with me despite there never being any issues prior, no arguments or fights, it seemed like we understood each other well but not well enough it seemed. I isolated myself from my family for almost 3 days, skipped school, was just simply a wreck. And all I did when she told me she wanted to break up I played souk eye, kansas and fireflies on loop for what felt like 2 hours straight, to say it helped is an understatement, and now though I finally moved on listening to it is a bit of guilty pleasure, not just for how beautifully crafted it is but for the mental anguish I connected to it. Just listening to it makes me think of you, even if we're worlds apart now, and I don't ever think of you like I once did, but in this case it's just apart of the pain you left me with. I won't always think about you, but I'll make an exception, just once.
The exact same happened to me too. The album came out two days before me and my first bf of 1 1/2 years broke up. I finished high school that june while he had a year left. We had a toxic relationship to say the least and I was totally blind of seeing that until a long time after. Right after the breakup I listened to TNN constantly and surprise! Fire flies, Souk eye and One percent were three of my most listened songs of 2018. I always have an eerie feeling that the timeline with the release of the album and the breakup was no random coincidence, I guess Damon is just a fortuneteller who could see into my future whilst making TNN and setting the release date for it (kinda like how Aries was made before covid but fit so well during the tough times). Listening to Humility now makes me feel that I actually became much more happier outside of the toxic relationship me and my ex had. I think it's amazing how Damon has created such a unique album that resonates with people experiencing the same life situations, especially the melancholy of love, loss and happiness. It speaks to the time after the loss of someone, either friendship, relationship or death. It's the mourning of not having them around anymore and finding true happiness again. It's the circle of life experiences we will experience again and again as time continues to move forward and change us mentally and physically. I haven't heard any other albums like it, it's truly something special.

Most people say this is about 2D missing Murdoc but for me, it could also be Ace's thoughts about his short tenure with Gorillaz. 'If loving you's a felony now, then I'm a renegade' fits in with the fact many fans did not take kindly to Ace filling in for Murdoc while he was in jail. He even offers to change himself ('I'll be a regular guy for you') but this does not work with some hating him even more than before; however, he slowly gets some fans to appreciate him and give him a chance. 'I want to stay with you for a long time' represents that Ace was genuinely enjoying his time with Gorillaz and secretly hoping that he could be around for a little bit longer; this ultimately wouldn't work out with Murdoc returning. The line 'when I'm leaving with your love' can refer to the fact that, while he was just a temporary fill, Ace was ultimately looking for the approval/love of the fans while he was here. Finally, the chorus says the singer 'will always think about you..... 'cause I got to run soon'. Ace will always think positively about his time with the group and that he knows it's time for him to leave. Just my two cents. Like everyone else, this is easily in the top 3 best tracks from The Now Now.
gorillaz, but specifically this music, really sticked with me when I was really sad with life and stuff, but coming back to it feels almost reconforting, kinda as it is when you see an friend you haven't in a while. it's definetely an great sensation, specially when things got better in general, so, to whoever needs, it will pass and you'll soon look back to all of it and see how much you've came from.
The end of this song is just so exhilarating, it's gotta be one of the best closers on any gorrilaz album. Tbh this is probably one of their best songs period
Alright, can I just say that in all of the years I have been alive so far, the only band that has made me cry so much is Gorillaz. Although most of their songs sound happy some of them are actually pretty dark and I think everyone who knows Gorillaz knows that. My point is that I feel like because of the fact that 2D, Murdoc, Noodle, and Russel (also Ace) aren't real, Gorillaz is a band that we are only able to reach through music (and social media). This makes it easier to relate to their songs for me because instead of wanting so bad to see them in concert or wondering what they are up to today, I can actually focus on listening to the meaning of each song knowing that they aren't real and I don't have to obsess over them as some people obsess over Taylor Swift or Ariana Grande. Even though I enjoy seeing the band members in the music videos, interviews, and bites, I still would never want to see them in concert because I personally wouldn't want to ruin the magic of it all (but cheers to whoever does get the chance to see em in concert!). All in all, I am very grateful for Damon and Jamie and that I discovered this band before I was too late!

But the thing being, it's Gorillaz we are talking about. They don't have a "style" that will identify them. So in Humanz, they wanted variety of music, artists, lyrics. Yea, there was some complaints about the album not being how Gorillaz used to sound like, because there was more collaboration between different artists. That's what made the Humanz album so unique in its own way. They had variety. Personally, I liked the Humanz album, it was really well done.

When we actually learn 2D's friendship with Murdoc is the same as the one between Damon and Graham in Blur.. how Master Albarn, can you do that and still, write one of the last masterpieces of Gorillaz. Simply brilliant.
Four years later, it still feels unreal this came out. I was so hyped when I first heard humility right when school was out for the summer, and even when I heard the rest of the album later that year I honestly didn't think this would be my favorite for unexpected reasons, cause right when the summer was fading out and I started my first year in highschool my gf at the time had broken up with me, a few months before our two year anniversary. Little to say it broke me, a lot. I was devastated, I wondered for weeks what went wrong and if I really was the reason they broke it off with me despite there never being any issues prior, no arguments or fights, it seemed like we understood each other well but not well enough it seemed. I isolated myself from my family for almost 3 days, skipped school, was just simply a wreck. And all I did when she told me she wanted to break up I played souk eye, kansas and fireflies on loop for what felt like 2 hours straight, to say it helped is an understatement, and now though I finally moved on listening to it is a bit of guilty pleasure, not just for how beautifully crafted it is but for the mental anguish I connected to it. Just listening to it makes me think of you, even if we're worlds apart now, and I don't ever think of you like I once did, but in this case it's just apart of the pain you left me with. I won't always think about you, but I'll make an exception, just once.
The exact same happened to me too. The album came out two days before me and my first bf of 1 1/2 years broke up. I finished high school that june while he had a year left. We had a toxic relationship to say the least and I was totally blind of seeing that until a long time after. Right after the breakup I listened to TNN constantly and surprise! Fire flies, Souk eye and One percent were three of my most listened songs of 2018. I always have an eerie feeling that the timeline with the release of the album and the breakup was no random coincidence, I guess Damon is just a fortuneteller who could see into my future whilst making TNN and setting the release date for it (kinda like how Aries was made before covid but fit so well during the tough times). Listening to Humility now makes me feel that I actually became much more happier outside of the toxic relationship me and my ex had.
I think it's amazing how Damon has created such a unique album that resonates with people experiencing the same life situations, especially the melancholy of love, loss and happiness. It speaks to the time after the loss of someone, either friendship, relationship or death. It's the mourning of not having them around anymore and finding true happiness again. It's the circle of life experiences we will experience again and again as time continues to move forward and change us mentally and physically. I haven't heard any other albums like it, it's truly something special.

Most people say this is about 2D missing Murdoc but for me, it could also be Ace's thoughts about his short tenure with Gorillaz.
'If loving you's a felony now, then I'm a renegade' fits in with the fact many fans did not take kindly to Ace filling in for Murdoc while he was in jail. He even offers to change himself ('I'll be a regular guy for you') but this does not work with some hating him even more than before; however, he slowly gets some fans to appreciate him and give him a chance.
'I want to stay with you for a long time' represents that Ace was genuinely enjoying his time with Gorillaz and secretly hoping that he could be around for a little bit longer; this ultimately wouldn't work out with Murdoc returning. The line 'when I'm leaving with your love' can refer to the fact that, while he was just a temporary fill, Ace was ultimately looking for the approval/love of the fans while he was here.
Finally, the chorus says the singer 'will always think about you..... 'cause I got to run soon'. Ace will always think positively about his time with the group and that he knows it's time for him to leave.
Just my two cents. Like everyone else, this is easily in the top 3 best tracks from The Now Now.

gorillaz, but specifically this music, really sticked with me when I was really sad with life and stuff, but coming back to it feels almost reconforting, kinda as it is when you see an friend you haven't in a while. it's definetely an great sensation, specially when things got better in general, so, to whoever needs, it will pass and you'll soon look back to all of it and see how much you've came from.
Call me crazy, but this album may be a contender for best Gorillaz album alongside Demon Dayz. I've never seen this much consistent quality.

Alright, can I just say that in all of the years I have been alive so far, the only band that has made me cry so much is Gorillaz. Although most of their songs sound happy some of them are actually pretty dark and I think everyone who knows Gorillaz knows that. My point is that I feel like because of the fact that 2D, Murdoc, Noodle, and Russel (also Ace) aren't real, Gorillaz is a band that we are only able to reach through music (and social media). This makes it easier to relate to their songs for me because instead of wanting so bad to see them in concert or wondering what they are up to today, I can actually focus on listening to the meaning of each song knowing that they aren't real and I don't have to obsess over them as some people obsess over Taylor Swift or Ariana Grande. Even though I enjoy seeing the band members in the music videos, interviews, and bites, I still would never want to see them in concert because I personally wouldn't want to ruin the magic of it all (but cheers to whoever does get the chance to see em in concert!).
All in all, I am very grateful for Damon and Jamie and that I discovered this band before I was too late!
