One of the greatest Irish Showbands that took Ireland by storm during the 60's. They also played Las Vegas and Sunday Night At The London Palladium (which had 20 million viewers worldwide at the time). This recording is from 1984 when the band came back together for a reunion concert. - Hudba
BEST SHOWBAND THAT CAME FROM IRELAND , FANTASTIC YEARS OF GREAT MUSIC AND FANTASTIC MEMORIES
A wonderful band, what experience and a great sound. Sad to think a few of them have passed on. RIP Thank you for the music.
They were not my memory of the Capitol
Beautiful, handsome and talented Butch Moore. We were so proud of him in the Eurovision. Fell in love with him then even tho I was only 12 yrs. Rest in Peace Dear Butch ❤
love all the showband ,,,,,,,,,,,, paddy cole the king of music ,,,,,,,, world class ,,,,,,,
What a pleasure it is to see these fine musicians one more time. Top class professionals every one, and a lovely group of guys as well. Looking at this posting in its entirety shows their enormous versatility, and absolute mastery of so many different genres of music. Had they been born and bred in the US they would have been world famous multi-zillionaires.
It is enormously poignant to see just how many of these wonderful gentlemen now have the letters 'RIP' after their names. We miss every one of them but give thanks to God for the privilege of knowing them, dancing to them and singing along with them over so many, many years.
Thank you gentlemen of the Capitol Showband. and God bless you all. Every one!
And an enormous Thank You also to the wonderful Susan McCann for the many many hours of pleasure she has given me over the years as well. Top class in every respect.
Gerard. You never said a truer word. I knew them for years, "Special"
Pure class! Real musicians!
My favourite show band loved Butch Paddy Cole ,all the band.feel so lucky I grew up in that area, even my grandaughters agree.

Great band. Super upload.
Great to see this showband on You Tube all great musicians,
all very talented individuals - dont make them like that anymore!
William Morning ,
R.I.P. Des Kelly (Bass Guitarist/Vocalist and former leader of The Capitol Showband) passed away on Saturday 1st April 2017.
Yes Des was a great guy met him a few times .His recording of The Streets Of Baltimore is my favorite R.I.P
There are now only two of the band members left....Eamon Monohan & Paddy Cole..Paul Sweeney (Trumpet) departed this life on 6th August 2020. R.I.P. Paul..
great to see the late john kelly and his brother des from turloughmore
Yes! Perfect...
In fairness, that band has to be the best instumentalists that ever got together in Ireland. Every member got featured. ( I had pleasure of meeting Des Kelly, he actually managed a band I was in)
we will never hear or see the likes of them again, Top Drawer stuff.
Correct Eamonn.
I her it most nights cause 1 is me neighbour
Great music from a great band
Many fond memories of these guys playing in Clery's ballroom Dublin. Too long ago to say when !!!
They did'ent play Clerys too often if at all if my memory serves me right
Talented men fantastic
The best
Might be right in thinking Butch Moore represented Ireland in the Eurovision, I say might maybe wrong but he's my first recollection of us entering.
You are correct..Butch Moore was one of the first Irish singers to sing in the Eurovision...The song was titled "Walking The Streets In The Rain"
love to see these auld clips, Johnny Kelly was my dad's best man, he used to roadie for them
+Michelle Duffy I met his brother Des on holiday many years ago...Johnny passed away all too young...
EXCELLENT FABOULOUS AWESOME 🌟⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
As good as it gets well played guys
The first showband. Wonderful.
Not the first that would be either Clipper Carlton or The Earl Gill band, but certainly one of the first.
PADDY Cole what a musician.
@@Rasher1974 You are quite right Michael ,it was the Clipper Carlton. They were the first band to stand up and play. Great times, great memories.
_Sad to say the only two members left standing of this band are Paddy Cole & Eamon Monahan_
Paddy Cole is the King of Swing!
im 23 and today I have only found out that my neighbour is 1 of these blokes maddd
Where can I get that cd by Susan Mc cann for my showband ledgents program
These guys should have been tops in the international list even better thanThe James Last orchestra but Ireland is small
What is Butch doing.
Sorry Jean, can’t help you.
What year did Johnny Kelly pass away
Johnny passed away in 1987...The first man to have a hit with "The Black Velvet Band" back in the early 60's even before The Dubliners recorded it.
WhT did he die if0
Try getting a group of young musicians to copy those guys, & All this talk about AI we had AI guy yrs ago he could make even the worst singer a soprano if you wanted Guaranteed and free ;)
ireland is now ruined t imes not the same
I so agree I lived on the Wadelie Estate in Ballymun when a bunch of these lads were at the Albert College and got to know them well .Followed them, The Royal Showband and Dickie Rock all over the place . Great times with standing room only at the halls wherever they performed . A much gentler and saner time

Daniel Mullarkey hello , has anyone got any recordings or filming of Noel McNeil the singer who replaced Butch Moore. Thank you
Ouch, Paddy murders Stranger on the Shore, in my opinion
Didnt see too much wrong with it
That was his particular style. Paddy is tops.
Just listen to it a few times and in my humble opinion it was excellent!!.
