How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a CZcams channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.

Those were some awesome shots with the broken camera u definitely need to keep doing that everytime u break a camera but still functional and huge congrats to u on buying the bale wrapper very excited for u and can't wait to see that wrapper in more videos to come

When I tedded out my hay I run a little bit slower ground speed. It seems to help in the distribution of the hay over a wider area. Just a thought.
Real nice hay, real cool you bought the wrapper. Showing us even what happens with wet bales, knife shreded bales, and not. It makes safe storage outside, and with your tracked skid steer its a win win! Maybee buy some wrap in bulk?

I hear John Deere moving parts of the company to Mexico. Who knows how much of the John Deere line will end up in mexico.. Do you think it will keep its status after it does this?
So, questions.
If you want leaf structure in your hay, instead of just stems, does it seem that Tedding hay will break down the leaf structure and leave only stems?
Understand crimping hay in the swather preserves leaves, does tedding do the opposite?
Hay stems are crimped to allow the juice out of the stems. Notice did not mention leaves. Leaves falling off is a much bigger problem with dry legumes than grasses.

Hey Ryan!! At about the 4:30 mark I noticed some lighter colored areas. What is going on there?
That’s a rock patch with shallow soil. The alfalfa didn’t make it as many years there and it’s been filled with grass
@@HowFarmsWork IT'S A GOOD THING WE GOT 2ND CROP DONE RIGHT BEFORE WE GOT ANOTHER 8 INCHES OF RAIN ON WHAT HAS BEEN A VERY WET SUMMER THIS YEAR FOR WI WERE UP TO 15 INCHES OF RAIN FOR JULY THAT IS AFTER WE HAD 22 INCHES OF RAIN IN JUNE AND 21 INCHES OF RAIN IN APRIL AND MAY COMBINED THERE ARE MANNY FIELDS UNDER WATER YET AND LOTS OF CORN AND SOYBEANS DROWNED OUT ALREADY
