The fact that Kali was able to fully manifest EGO without a seed of light goes to show just how one of a kind she was in the city
Honestly I think that she wouldn't have, under normal conditions.
In the book of the Red Mist in Library of Ruina you are basically told that she began using a prototype unstable E.G.O extracted from Nothing There, which was trying to make her into its shell. Kali only awakened her E.G.O by resisting that pull and finding her center, so it's possible that she wouldn't have been able to without it.

@@mooyah4129 Oh, by finding her center I meant being able to resist the pull of the abno that was trying to hollow her and make her a Shell, and reasserting herself. Usually a person would manifest E.G.O while being aided by The Light, Gebura was able to do so before the White Nights because the prototype E.G.O she was wielding acted as an unrefined version of it.
I think the reason why the red ordeal (which probably related to oswald) and book hunter show up is because the old river that cogito was drawn from is said to hold every possiblity of human: past, present and future. So it could explain why it byproduct refer to bookhunter from LoR ending. Even some abno represent stuff in the city for example, judgement bird, big bird and small bird is similar to arbiter, beholder, claw.
Yeah, a lot of abnormalities serve as symbolic references to events in the city
Express Train To Hell and Mirror of Adjustment foreshadow Limbus Company
Bloodbath references Carmen’s death
The Burrowing Heaven references what became of Carmen’s body
WhiteNight is a corrupted version of Carmen and is named after the White Nights and Dark Days
Black Swan and 1.76mhz are both references to the smoke war
I had a similar line of thought when it comes Ordeals. I had seem them more as representations of the City. All of the following would be just conjecture: I agree with the Red Ordeals being Oswald due to very similarities as well as Sweepers being present during the City's Purge hours. I had thought Green ordeals bearing the notion of sentience and pain probably relates to the City's past and huge disdain for robots (Roland mentions that they were banned more on the idea of what a human is, or some philosophical query) that led to the AI ethics statute. Or it could just be his hatred of machines (which would lead back to why and the AI history. On a side tangent, the part of Angela developing an EGO could also serve to reinforce that notion of AI being separate from humans as the roster of people who develop EGO were all humans, as well as those who distorted as Zena mentions their origins are essentially human. (Though a q&a explained that once she became human, she was allowed to remain in the City hence the book hunter ending)
The Amber ordeals may take after the dog eat dog nature of the City. Most of its text more or so sound like those getting accustomed to the new state of living. The past of the City is blurred with only knowing that the Wings emerged and were swift to devour all other companies as Angela explains. Denizens of that time may have struggled (obviously continued struggle with taxes) to operate with a new regime.
Violet ordeals are a mystery and I only thought of singularity, but I don't know. [As I said, it's all conjecture.] But it's nice to see that in some way, these Ordeals weren't forgotten when going into Ruina in some way as one could hypothesize their connection, especially with how blatant the White Ordeal is with book hunters and the Library and overall themes.

I think it says something when the City, a place where every second has you facing a uncomfortably high chance to die (now even higher because of Angela) hasn’t been shown to discriminate on things such as gender or appearance
There is some with people who get full body replacements. But thats about it.

@@couldntthinkofaname360 Nah, the robotic ones. Roland even says that they are discriminated against and are the only things that are discriminated against in the city, besides the wealth inequality stuff.
@@couldntthinkofaname360 You're thinking of body enhancements, which for the most part seem to be kinda hard-to-notice stuff, like having enhanced legs to leap incredibly high without having big robotic legs.
Hell, a good example are the tattoos that the Stray Dogs all have, they're nanomachines that can ignite, speed up, or harden them, if memory serves me right.
7:14 something of note that limbus shows with it's E.G.O corrosion is that before dying whoever is undergoing corrosion will start looking alot like the abnormality the E.G.O originates from
my theory on the white ordeals is that X is regaining their memory. As X and various personas of A emerge, their memories and traumas come back as well. This mean these white ordeals are personifications of A traumas of the Head's raid. this explains why the midnight of white is a claw.
I honestly would love for PM to make a spinoff about the aftermath of the bad ending in LoR and explore the events that takes place after following one of the bookhunter

I don't think YuRia's last name is atelier. An atelier is a fancy name for a shop, in the real world and in the city, as indicated by "Atelier Logic", named after its workshop. YuRia runs YuRia Atelier, though as it's owner, Operator, and sole employee, I suppose they might as well be synonymous.

I imagine that in a place like that, gender is something so superfluous and ephimeral that literally nobody pays attention to it... I'm almost sure, gender and sexuality doesn't hold much meaning in general... Probably to compensate, I can picture the City a place were discrimination comes from wealth and hierarchy, like how the nest-dwellers kinda universally don't give a damn fuck to what happens to the people of the Backstreets, or the circumstances in which Roland was denied a migration permit... kinda a "beggars aren't even human" situation, were people look at your value in your money (or the money they can make from you)

So basically, you can ignore the rules of the Head if you can beat claws or arbiters regularly as no one really cares outside of them due to the atmosphere of the city. That would make you a SOTC or impurity however.
...Yeah, uh, about that - there's a lot of Arbiters, and the typical Arbiter can destroy an entire L CORP facility solo (if it weren't for the fucking Red Mist working there). How exactly do you plan to not immediately get blasted into base molecules?

while the pianist is recorded as the first distortion as noted by Hana, actual distortions seemed to have appeared before the light according to Moses within the Distortion Detective Series. Taii also is wielding a refined EGO, not an innate EGO within Wonderlab (staining roses, in particular.) Great Video however, just a bit quiet!
From what I got from the comic, Taii is pulling out a Kali and wielding both, since part of the equipment appears afterwards. She is wielding the staining rose armor, Aleph class armor, but the rapier seems to be her own EGO, in a similar way to Kali which has the Red Mist armor which is her own, but her sword being a prototype Mimicry

The two are together as long as they’re linked with the E.G.O."- is what came from mimis post comic interview. so apparently it was more of a resonation with the gear rather then the awakening of a personal EGO. considering Mimis kind of shoddy having not played either games, its kind of hard to take anything she says without a grain of salt however.

So essentialy in the city they speak a unique language that doesn't exist in our world and those lasts exist in the form of dialects like the ones you use for your family and friends but will be considerated inappropriate for a workplace
Talking about EGO, it makes me think... If only very few people can control EGO and abnormalities/distortions are extremely dangerous, wouldn't that make most of Lobotomy Corporation's employees to be very high-grade fixers or even colors considering they can utilise said egos like it were theirs, with no problems at all?
I mean, I think even your average clerk is very powerful compared to the ordinary citizen considering that a few dozen clerks can actually beat the shit out of most abnos given enough time while people just... Well... die.
All of lob corps employees are bare minimum wagees, granted they do work for a wing. They are only special because of the abno gear. The gear is doing all the heavy lifting. There’s also the suppression field within the facility that dampens the effect of all the abnos in the facility. The pianist for example was said to only be at a WAW level and yet nearly leveled a good part of a district.
@@DMrLeeds on my personal opinion, lobotomy corp agents, are not capable fighters, they have minds to control the EGO of abnormalities, and thus a ALEPH geared agent is comparable to a grade one
The quilopht deterrence system (which I totally misswrote) made the abnormalities dormant, and lowering it made them go active, to prepare then for the workday, though this can be ommited for the case of the drowned sisters, I really can't say much about them since, for me, they felt like a plot point more then anything
As for the pianist being a WAW and still leveling half of a district: my brother in christ. We created weapons of mass destruction. Rudolta of the sleigh could do the same in a lesser range, all abnormalities are super dangerous if compared IRL with no EGO, All-Around helper could kill maybe hundreds of people in a single charge if it was unrestricted
Also, WAW abnormalities are in the: could destroy massive chunk on the city side of things: Alriune, express train to hell, Knight of Despair.
@@notdoppler9833 that means that alephs are straight up planetary threats without the qliphoth deterrence, melting love and nothing there straight up can't be harmed by physical damage and whitenight can kill an entire facility on a whim, and that's when they are weakened
explained in limbus, basically, its all just the ego gear, as well as the golden boughs to stabilize them enough so that there are no downsides.

Yuria's EGO is her factory and teddy bears, Ezra's is incomplete but seems to be some suit of armor at the moment.
I find it very interesting that the city has no gender norms sure if they had different gender norms that would make sense because it's a different culture but I find that idea of a society having no one gender norms at all to be odd it makes me wonder why gender norms do not exist in the city where they're never gender norms in the city and if so why? Maybe gender norms did exist but were discarded for some reason and if so why? It seems like an interesting mystery in the lore I wonder if will get an answer for it but I'm also fine with it just kind of being a mystery.
Gender norms don't matter if the only thing going through peoples head is whether or not they are going to be slaughtered, on top of that body modifications makes attributes such as strength speed and skill a matter of money and not how you were born
Bruh, I'm pretty sure gender is the least thing they can even think when you try to survive and live in a world with syndicate, distortion and abnormalities.
Gender norms only exist if there's differences in genders to enforce said norms. Your natural physical abilities don't matter as soon as you get an augment, so being female doesn't mean you're less capable of defending yourself.
Also names probably got washed out after so long that parents in the City probably act like Hippie parents and name their son Tiffany because it sounds neat to them and they don't know what it means anymore as a name.
It’s most likely because they don’t have the time to make and keep up with rules. When there is a nickname for organ harvesters and the value of human life is less than 0, that sort of thing doesn’t matter. It’s quite freeing, ironically
