UB40 released "Here I Am (Come and Take Me)" in January 1990, as the second single from their ninth studio album, Labour of Love II.
The track is a cover version of the original Al Green composition, which was released in 1973. There have been several other reggae versions of the song by artists including Marcia Griffiths, Pluto Shervington, Owen Gray, and Inner Circle.
This official music video was directed by Jim Gable whose other notable work includes videos for the likes of Rolling Stones, Sting, AC/DC, John Fogarty and many more.

I have 8 mixed race children & 8 mixed race grandchildren! They don’t all like reggae, but they respect the fact that I do. Sadly 2 members of UB40 passed away. RIP

I grew up listening to UB40 because my mom was a huge reggae fan. Now fast-forward to 2022....we haven't spoken in 2 years but I just invited her to see their concert at the Hollywood Bowl. She said yes and I'm beyond excited to reconnect with my mother over music again.

This music reminds me of when I was traveling from Boston to New York.
I first heard this song sitting in the back of my dad's Totoyo Cressida back in in 1989...this song is my all time favorite childhood memory..back in the day when we had pen pals..when milk was delivered to your doorstep..when kids jumped rope in the street and on hot days cooled down with the hose pipe before taking a ride on our BMX bikes round the block..yes those were the days.
Oh yes so true. To know and feel the 80's you had to live it with all the treasured memories.

I think its crazy all the songs I listened to as a child, while my mom cleaned houses and on her days of going to the beach. UB40 was my favorite songs. I Didnt even know they sang all these songs. My most favorite times listening was after a hot day at the beach and in our old station wagon, my mom hoping we had enough gas to get home. My lil sister and I would be burnt out. Falling asleep in the back. Id be dozing looking out the window listening to the radio and seeing the sun and clouds. This might sound stupid to some people but for me it was.

Wooooow one of my favourite bands, ever ! ... Fortunatelt, in February, at the Great Carnival of barranquilla (Caribbean coast of Colombia, South America) UB40 performed together with Carlos Vives, Rubén Blades and Ricky Martin: Awesome concert! and now I feel and think it was much better, before this hard and long quarantine, because of the terrible Covid-19, we are currently living. However, the nice moments I enjoyed during the last Barranquilla Carnival, 2 months ago, are in my mind and heart: UB40... Super Cool!
My children know all the UB40 songs thanks to my dad listening to them when I was growing up now I do the same with my kids. Thanks dad. GREAT music for the soul ❤ I LOVE UB40
