Wim Wenders is one of the best directors ever imo. For decades, he has made films that are some of the most plotless and drifting movies, yet adds so much detail in the world, the emotions, and the characters that it feels comforting and warm to experience it. It's incredible to see that 39 years after his magnum opus Paris, Texas that he still has it in him to make something fantastic.
@@tallskeleton Hello, sorry for late reply. I’d just do it. Lots of signs in English. Might just require some patience getting around. Most large stations have information offices with English service & will bend over backwards to help you. You will meet English speakers keen to try out their English, and even ryokan will be ok. Some will, some won’t. Bring a think skin, because some ryokan won’t accept you because of a fear of unable to communicate, but most places will be ok. Just go to izakaya, restaurants etc, ply yourself with the best booze, and have fun. 🤩
There should be disclaimer regarding this movie.. It's slooooooooow. Really really slow paced. Still i recommend watching it keeping that expectation in mind. It is masterfully acted and the soundtrack is amazing and the ending sequence is gonna stick with for a while for it's masterful acting performance.
although its slower than most movies, I think there is beautiful captivating stuff happening every moment of the movie I never found it to be boring or like nothing is happening
Another big movie about loneliness in Tokio. Wczoraj oglądałem. Najpierw Ghibli film z dvd: Panda Kopanda, a potem w kinie Perfect Days. Kiedy wróciłem do domu zacząłem znowu. Tym razem Whisper of the Heart. Ciekawe, że zarówno w PD jak i w WH jednym z powtarzających się motywów jest widok Tokio z wysokości Skytree.
i saw this film just now in our local cinema and it was absolutely beautiful. i planned to see this movie without any context at all because somehow the poster told me that this is gonna be a great movie. just this powerful combination on the poster consisted of simple title “perfect days and charismatic smile of koji yakusho sitting on a bench in what it seems to be a park, wearing a toilet cleaner uniform and holding some old camera. simply “perfect” film. loved it!
