  • In this episode of Noisey’s global rap series, ‘Gangsta Rap International’, Chuckie finds himself in Ghana exploring the unlikely rise of Ghanaian Drill.
In 2020, a new generation of rappers hailing from the villages of Kumasi, created a sound inspired by Chicago drill and specifically, rapper Pop Smoke. They call it ‘Asakaa’.
These guys are inspired by American culture and rappers, that they sound, dress, talk and act like them. They’ve even changed the name of their city to ‘Kumerica’ in homage to the USA and call themselves ‘Kumericans’. They’ve even made their own flag using the star spangled banner.

Really to be honest I love rap but we are a destruction to our own Society we don't really speak on the truth who we are and what's going on in our society we speak and rap on devilish things and the rap industry love it what I can really say these guys are slick hired assassins to their communities because more songs about killing that they drop the more of the minds of the young people want a drill and kill so therefore the elites going to have to poison you through food giving you the covid shots or whatever else they just pay one individual in your community that tricks your mind to kill each other

Having worked as a school teacher in Tanzania, and worked with the Maasai people there to teach them English as well I'll just add this - no other continent has a youth that values their education as much as Africa. Kids walking 4-5 km to school every morning, kid's parents working 16 hour days to support their children's education, school being from 6am to 16pm every day. As soon as Africa gets over the issues Europe and the middle East put them through they are going to blast right past us in innovation and work ethic.
