- What's up Skate Fam? Welcome to the Deez Skates jam skating tutorial on Trucking. I'm going to break down this movement so you can do it with your friends in your rink. I see this jam skating move literally every where I go. It's been around forever and I've got a lot of requests for it in the past, so I decided it was time to give my input on it. If you can skate on an intermediate level and do a basic cross over, you can do this move. So grab your skates and get ready to try it out! Also, don't forget to subscribe to Deez Skates! And like this video so more people will see it! See you the next time I lace up!

I'll pray 🙏
How do you skate with a prosthetic leg!
Ok im gonna stop whining....
@@chasedwards5097 I try to think there's someone out there that has it worse then me !
I’m a 70s baby so we did A LOT of skating in the 80s & very early 90s. We called that move ‘Shuffle’ when you freestyles really well it was then ‘Advanced Shuffle’ Good times. My mom use to advance shuffle like a pro. She’s in her 70s now & still holds her own in the rink.
We called it Jam skating since the early 80s. We would compete in speed skating and during the lunch break we would have a “Jam Session” , so we called it jam skate. On Friday’s and Saturday’s, we had a total of 4 Jam skate sessions and would have 1 break dancing contest in the middle while others kept jam skating on the outside. Jam music would last 5-8 minutes per song, two songs per jam session. You will still find FAST jam skaters skate for full 10-15 minutes continuously without missing a beat.Indiana/Fort Wayne
We called it Jam skating here in Wisconsin as well.
Same!!!! Can't call it anything else lol!!!!
We call it jam skating here in Washington state.
Grew up in Florida and called it shuffle skating, moved to Ohio when I was 13 and they called it jam skating. Crazy how different parts of the country call the same thing something different
The same in Kentwood mi. Kentwood Arena in the 1980 on. We didn't really have to name things so much then.....
I'm a music teacher and the clean and simple way you explained counting the downbeats and upbeats is probably the best I've ever heard!
I really don't think this can be taught... It has to be felt💯
Yes! It's a "both-and."
I wish it could be taught but I agree, it must be felt.
Pin Garrett comment.
You can't teach what can only be felt, you can only inspire lol
that is true
So long story short, was a skater & dancer my whole life, then hit hard with insane physical & painful trials past 3yrs!!!! I literally couldn't do anything. I'm starting to get better & went with our church to skate last night! I seriously almost cried while skating. All the fun & emotions came flooding bk in my heart & soul! I am going bk every week to skate by myself for some soul healing! Thx for this! I'm am so excited to be bk on the rink! BTW I'll be 46 in Feb. You are never too old!
This is perhaps my favorite movement. When younger i tended to bend more at the knees for a lower stance adding a "pump" on the front leg as I transitioned the other leg to the back. Now as I have grown older it resembles more along the lines you are presenting in this video! I have been quad skating since 70's and the move was popular even then.
We called it ‘boogie skating’ in my day. Loved it, lived at the rink!
Swivel hips and then crossing the leg behind is called rubber legging. What we have called it since the 70s. In Illinois.
ahhh it does have a name!!. Picked that up in Atlanta years later...
Big facts
Are you related to Velia Drace...??! 🤔🧐🤨
This is the best tutorial on Truckin!! Im 47 and skated pretty much since I was 3. After 20 years of not skating, rink closed or moved etc. I'm back at it! And love it in my Vanilla Jams! Yours is the best video other videos have people interrupt the commentator etc. I subscribed!! Thanks! 😊
Glad it helped!
You got some rhythm on those quads, Dude! The level of control you have is freakin’ impressive!👌
We also called it Jam Skating back in the early 80’s. I finally got another pair of skates after all these years. Now I just need to get my skate legs back.
I absolutely love your flow. I really enjoyed this video. I'd love more beginner jam videos!!!
Getting down the beat and rhythm is what I struggle with the most, this helped a ton!
I’m 17 and I started jam skating 2 years ago and now I’m in love and can’t stop
Im 16, and ive been skating at the rink every friday for about 4 or 5 years. Im too addicted 😂
I’m 16 and I’ve been skating for 8 years it really is addicting
Man I’m in my forties. I spent many a weekend in the mid 80s at the rink. I just bought a pair of skates for the first time in over 30 years and I’m super excited. Thanks for the vid!
I Started Jam Skating in the 70's Washington D.C. Kalarama Rink. Truckin', Crazy Legs, Flipping Over the Rail and Grinding the Rail w/ your Right Foot was a Norm for the SK8-Profeez.
😃I’ve been watching several tutorials and yours explains it the best! Thank you!!
Yep I did this same thing in the 70s. Skating since 1964 at a very early age of 2
U are very smooth on wheels. U made it look so effortless.
Best tutorial! I really like your teaching style
Man you are smooth. Good job!!!
Nice tutorials...im an outdoor skater and love to jam skate...great videos
Thank you. This is a very good tutorial video. Good job.
Flawless crossover my dude
Definitely Learn something I just ordered my skates
I started skating in 94 and we called it bouncing. Still bounce to this day every single time I put on my skates!
Ty for another great tut. Keep 'em coming.
going to learn from this tutorial. thanks for sharing.
Great video btw. Thank You! Definitely smashed the like button
We used to double pump around the corners 😊
I'm not a pro skater, but this is what I remember from skating on the block as a kid. This was my usual move.
I love this rink, the floor used to have a bump but it doesn't now so yay 😁
Awesome video!! Thank you, David!😁
Edit: Love seeing you skate with your Purple skates since you changed the plates!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
In 25 years of skating I’ve never once heard this called trucking. It’s crazy how different parts of the country call the same moves completely different things. Very cool
This is a great tutorial, thank you!
In jersey in the 90's we called it shuffle skating lol i can't wait to get bac on my skates
Pretty well explained, that’s hard to do on its own, explaining how to maneuver your feet. Nice job.
I love your skates 😊
This step, like much of jam skating, arose from disco dancing in the 70's. I was in high school, bopping, sliding and cruising (trucking) on my "figure 4" skates🛼🤩💙💙
What wheels are you using? Size and hardness? I really appreciate your tutorials, they help so much!! Clear and concise every time!!!
Nice 🤩
Amazing
great advice !!
We were truckin in 1983 down in mississippi so it must date back to the '70's probably, the disco days. We would have contests on who could have the fastest footwork at top speed..... good times
What part of Mississippi? I grew up in Hattiesburg and skated at Hub City starting in late 70s thru late 80s
@@scotrburns2764 I grew up in Laurel!! About 30 minutes away!
Awesome! Thank you
So, I’ve always wanted to jam skate, and I start watching tutorials, he comes up, he skates at the same rink as me. Same exact rink. Wild.
In the 80's, here in California, we called it Rexxing... Never heard the term trucking until recently
I had not heard it either until about two years ago. The people I heard it from are the younger Jam Skaters who follow the style that was popularized when the VNLA skate company got big.
Almost broke my screen smashing the like button, super duper mega smashed like.
😂😂
Yep we were skating like this in 1983
I started skating around 1963..I was good. 😘
When I used to live in New Jersey and go skating on a weekend we used to call it to Tri-State shuffle
I started skating in 1988 also. In Northern California we called it Rexing
Have heard this term as well, but it’s not used in the south.
I grew up skating in Reno and we called it Rexing as well
I've also heard it as rexxing. No matter what we call it, it was a blast.
I tried this today and almost fell. I’m having trouble keeping the front wheels of the back foot level! Will try more next week! Thanks for this video!
That floor looks good
"you have to be comfortable crossing your skates and know how to lemon"
me: oh... **saves vid for later and googles how to lemon**
Boogie Bounce ~~ Huber Heights, OH 70's
And now that I've bought quads, I find my self watching all your quad content lol :D
Me and my friends do this and even learned new tricks like moving to the left the bringing your right leg behind the left then go to the right then bring the left in the air not on the ground
In TN we call it trucking or jamming, but yes I've seen it everywhere I've ever skated
It was called Jam skating at "my" rink in So Cal in the late 80's and early 90's. :) I'm here because I'm looking into getting a pair of Solaris boots. Yours are so pretty! ;)
The Solaris Boots look amazing!
Cool vid! Thanks!
We called it “Rexing” .. great tutorial!!
Well you saw it with inline so now I am watching.
excellent!
Dude you’re cool 😎 explaining down beat with all the equipment in the background on your quads lol it’s a vibe in its entirety also I think the song you used is great and I came to ask who it is lol nightmares on wax esque
Hey I recognize that mirror! Texas skatium🙌🏾
When we were doing that in 75 we called it freestyle ‘Shuffle Skate’.
Before that there was a live organist playing on a riser stage or crappy AM radio in playing mono.
The Shuffle was a product of Disco/R&B, think Cool and the Gang.
Let them know,to pick up those feet, and place them into position, and if they do that, their feet should fall into position on beat.So you lift right to the back, place it down, life the front, place it down,so the timing is up foot1,down foot 1,up front2,down foot 2.Then as you get advanced it's like Plant foot 1,pivot1,plant position 2,pivot back to original position,etc,etc..
THANK YOU! That was my main question.
Thank you for this! What wheels are you using in this video?
Great video
Good morning!!!
We called in jammin in the 90s too
Cool video. Just getting back into jam skating after a pretty big hiatus. Had a set of Hard Candies in the mid-late 90s that are now long gone. Trying to educate myself on jam skates (we always called them speed skates back then), but, low cut boot with no/short heel. Do you have any recommendations on where to start? Would building up my own boot be a better option? No real budget constraints but I would like something durable, maybe a bit more modern, if skates have any improvement since the 90s.
Early 80s is when i use to skate all the time and we called it truckin then
I never knew what this move was called, so I could never find videos on it ! Thank you so much now I can practice this and learn to get up to speed with everyone else 🤣
I'm in the market for my first pair of Jam skates. Any recommendations would be awesome. Currently at the top of my list are Bonts Jam Skate.
I'm diggin your channel and excited to start this Jam journey.
Yep...Slide ✌️ circ '74' keep trucking 😎
in the 70s in S Texas we called it boogie skating or boogie rollin..
Big facts
I think I've been doing this by accident except I combo with spins while my heel is up
I thought that rink looked awfully familiar! Texas Skatium! I sure hope they open again soon.
Dope
Where I grew up in NJ we called it shuffling. But it wasn't a specific move. Would always do it in groups of at least 2 and would make up our own routines.
Yep thats what we called it in maine shuffling
Lodi ca. This and similar skate techniques were referred to as “Rexing” or Rex skating.
Here in Atlanta it's the ATL Ride. There's body and hand movements added to it but the basic footwork is the same
Yooo! I gotta go to Atlanta and learn the body and hand movements! What rink do you skate at?
@@DeezSkates Cascade, Golden Glide, Sparkles, Stone Mountain skates. There's a lot more but those are the ones I like.
🎶🎶"LET'S GO "SK8" TRUCKIN" 🎶🎶🎶
Cool video. You said you've skated across the country? If so Curious if you have skated in Maryland?
Okay I got u bro
Nice skates.
What wheels are those?
Thx in advance.
Ayyyyyye texas Skatuim
I'm picturing myself trying over and over to do a crossover and just sliding off into the wall every single time 🤣🤣🤣
We used to call that shuffling back 20 years ago :)
Hi. What kind of skates do you have (boot/plates/wheels)? They look like speed skates. Thanks for the video.
When I used to skate I don't remember anyone ever doing any type of moves. I've started taking my kids the last few months and everyone is doing moves. So I've been slowly learning. Trucking is my favorite cause it can be so fun!
Can you please do a tutorial on JB style skating? Thank you vm.
GOOD TO SEE YOU POST NEW VIDEOS ...GIVE US MORE EDGE CONTROL DRILLS
in florida everyone seems to do this with one wheel instead of coming up on both front wheels, is it the same concept or a different move completely?
Cool green wheels
Im south of shreveport next door
Do u have a video on backwards skating
