  • On the homestead, I have been busy planting fruit trees! So far, I have planted 6 fruit trees (3 peach, 1 cherry, and 2 apple.) I am planning to plant two more cherry trees and a few more apples and possibly pear. I already have 3 established pear trees, so they are last on my list this spring!
Trees are easy to plant but they take some time if you don’t have a tractor to dig the holes for you. Planting will be an incredible exercise and worth it.
I am not only planting these trees for myself, but I am also planting them for the future generations of my family. I want to have food that grows in my backyard and yesterday is the best day to plant a tree! Because they can take years to establish, plant them as soon as you can.
    Right now..
The future of the world is uncertain, but I want food to be certain for myself, my kids, and grandkids.

Put more compost and worm castings or maybe a liquid form like something from fox farms my experience with blackberries is that they’re pretty easy but they don’t produce a lot first season and blueberries are picky for first year or two, my guess is maybe a soil test or something you missed because blackberries and raspberries have been relatively easy in my experience 😊 hope this helps 😊

I love your fence😁it'll keep the deer and rabbits out well, you may have to add an electric line for the bears but that's not big issue.

Wow you did such a great job, I hope your trees will produce abundantly for you especially the cherry tree. For me in the south where it is warmer and easier to grow cherries, they still are getting soo pricey at the grocery store!

The pear tree is really something ! I have a hybrid apple tree that grows 3 different varieties on the same tree so it helps with cross pollinating . You did a beautiful job with your garden . When you were talking about your peach trees and one being a contender , it made me think of that Marlon Brando line , " I coulda been a contender." Anyway, that's my dose of weirdness for today .

Nice garden and fence. Im wondering if you trim the pear tree back at the end of this year it may be more productive. Just a thought, but definitely not an arborist.

I love pears! Did you prune that tree yourself? If so, do you think you might create a pruning of fruit trees video one day?? I love how open and artistic looking it is.

Beautiful orchard Gubba! Looks amazing and sounds delicious! Would love a nice little orchard in my world. I mean just imagine a trip to get groceries means walking out the back door. Nice work and prayers for a bountiful harvest soon. I don’t know if something like honeysuckle or ivy would be a good idea on the fence or if it grows well there. Grapes too maybe a little GubGer Vinyard out there. So many options. Thanks Gubba!

Excellent idea to plant fruit trees! We just planted 30 apple trees ourselves. Deer are a major problem here in Northern Michigan as well. The first thing we built was an 8ft tall deer fence around the orchard! We look forward to seeing your Fruits and Vegetables grow! Best, David and Rachel from CFS
