Brad is like "No, I'm busy."
Hello, if you want to glue something in a humid environment the next time use some silicone. These connections last for a very long time. E.g. aquariums. Prove is in the Pudding. Greetings from Germany, Gerd
Good call :)
Sellys glass silicone is great it's aquarium safe. It's best to use it outside as the stong vinegar smell will give you a headache if you're around it
There are also neutrally crosslinkung silicones. We used a Dow Corning product in the solar panel production to fix the junction box on the back.
@@gerhardzinke1801 neural cure silicones definitely don't smell anywhere near as bad. I think they smell like dirt when curing
Liebe Grüße, Ines.🌱
Vielen Dank :)
I love Bradley it’s like he’s saying do what you like just don’t mess with my things 🎉
He’s such a cutie 🥰
Great review. The softer light makes the plants look so pretty 💚
Thanks :)
I feel as though they are going to price themselves out of the market. For the price of just one of these, you can buy half a dozen quality T5 or T8 strips in the same wattage. The dimming feature seems superfluous for such a low wattage light, while the ability to turn them would be nice for some applications.
Price is certainly the biggest negative in my opinion l
I love the golden color of Soltech lights, it’s like having the noonday sun in your house even on a cloudy day. I have several Mother lights which I love but wish they were a little more golden. Will definitely try these Grove lights out! Thanks for the thorough review as always.
I do like the light from the soltech lights the most too 🥰 thank you!
Wow nice! You can see the difference
Shame that magnetic attachment is not available as a choice.
The Soltech lights look beautiful in your cabinet 👍 Thanks for the review journey 😀🇨🇦
Thank you:)
I've been wanting to get these for a while now, your right it looks great.
Super useful pudding test and so good looking ! Thank you Jan, this light set up is just what I was searching for to fill my empty cabinet finally.😹
Maybe instead of a sticky foam bit you could glue a magnet into the spot where the sticky foam thing went, if the cabinet is magnetic.
I just screwed them in :) but also a good idea!!:)
Personally, id prefer the lights used for aquariums. They provide much more information about the spectrum like PAR/PPF/PUR and so on.
I truly enjoy how you do before and after, the whole journey, not only the results. We have the same problem here in south America, the shipping is more expensive that the product.
Thank you:)
Good lights. Thanks for sharing Jan!
Thanks :)
Good morning to you vary nice plants collection lovely houseplants lovely
Thanks :)
very helpful video. i keep learning soooo much from your videos….. its never ending 😃 Thank you Jan. I will look into buying those grow lights
Thank you:)
A great result after 4 months ,
Like these lligths!!
💚🌿🍀🌵💚
Thank you:)
I used Bridgelux EB Gen 3 Slim
LED boards with a meanwell driver. The LED boards fit perfectly on the inside corner of the cabinet facing inwards. It is a lot more involved than buying a prebuilt light, but the wiring isn't that difficult.
Use thermal tape to fix lights in place, it lets the heat disapate and will improve the lights efficiency and lifespan.
Thank you so much Jan, your plants always blow me away 🤩 These lights have certainly passed your pudding test, I’m very impressed with them. Very innovative features which I think would be brilliant for shelves too. I will check out their website & see if they are available in NZ.
Thanks :) I reckon the shittping to NZ would be even worse but maybe you find a local distributor :)
I had a similar light for my cabinet. However, while searching for more information on YT, I only found videos about plants that, unfortunately, I'm not permitted to grow in my area haha
Great vid Jan - given me some ideas!
Thanks :)
The price of soltech products is outrageous
After having just purchased a Milsbo cabinet, this is very useful 😂
Great review.
Thank you:)
I ❤❤ that shirt!
Do you have a link for your ikea cabinet? How big is it ? I love it. Everything looks amazing!
❤
Great video! Really in depth.
I’m setting up a Milsbo for orchids soon & your thorough reviews are appreciated. Do you have additional ‘wish you had done/not done’ thoughts/posts? Your insights & suggestions are always on point.
Definitely aboud any wooden materials in there because they’ll just mould. Insulate the cabinet with foam tape instead of using a humidifier to keep humidity up
@@sydneyplantguy thanks a ton!
Your wire rack setup looks like the way to go, much better than acrylic & wood. I plan to take two wire racks & bend so I have 2 L shapes racks that meet in the middle back, does that sound silly?
Hi Jan - just wondering if you want to run the light on a dim setting does it stay dimmed when it comes on and off using the timer - i have come across some that revert to the brightest setting?
Thanks for the review! New Zealand here and I have considered getting some of their products. I wonder about plugging the American plugs into the adapters. Is that a viable long term solution or I wonder if it's best to wait for Soltech to make a dedicated plug for us down here
Thanks :) I'm no electrician so I have no idea!! sorry :)
Looks like a light saber. Vmm, vmm. Quora says that's one way to spell the sound. Lol
😅😅
💚🌿
💜💜
Damnit Jan, I told myself I wouldn’t buy one of those cuz my barrinas do just fine. But now I want one! I have soltech pendant and track lights and I absolutely love them… but these bar lights are pretty cool. I just don’t like that they don’t daisy chain like barrinas do. Same with the mother lights too, which I have a couple of.
Don’t fix what’s not broken :) hehe
That light could literally be swapped out for a light saber!!
lol eating pudding as you said proof in the pudding
yummy, enjoy :)
💚🌿😻🌿💚
I love those lights a bit expensive though
They are certainly ‘designer lights’ … you pay for aesthetics on top of the functionality :)
Perfect timing, I was just researching them! Any chance the discount code will be viable in a month or so?
Yes it will be available for a while :)
@@sydneyplantguy awesome, tysm!
Nice comprehensive review. Soltech certainly make some sexy, quality lights 🤩. Can I please ask what smart plugs you use? If you had to be away from home for several days, no smart plugs set up, no Tim living nearby, would you leave grow lights on full time or off full time?
Mine are the gridconnect ones from bunnings :) i use them with all of my lights :) too much light can be damaging. Plants want darkness too so i’d probably keep them off tbh 🫣
@@sydneyplantguy Thanks 😘
We obviously need a "Proof is in the Pudding" SPG tee.
I may have received my first sample of one last week ;)
Very informative. I always thought that 3000k was bloom inducing and 6500k was for leaf growth. Your leafy plants seem to be quite happy though.
Thanks :)
Yes I am wondering the same! I used a light meter on my bar light and am surprised so many people seem to have success. The light seems to weak to support the set up most people have. 🤷♀️
Lifespan of Soltech grow lights shown is 50,000 hours.
Can you please open up a shop for your apparel and ship to the USA? Pleeeeeease 👼
does anyone know what the clips he uses for hanging plants on the grid are called?🙏🏻
They are the clips ikea sells for their pegboards :) their ‘name’ is Skådis
@@sydneyplantguy oh yay, I can buy those in Denmark as well:) do you ever struggle to get them to hold the pots?
Do the lights work with timers?
Yes I have mine on a smart plug :)
Is Monstera adansonii varigated that hard to keep alive that you attempted it 3 times?
It keeps going all white or all green
@@sydneyplantguy So when it becomes all white, does it just die because it can't photosynthesize?
Sooner or later yes, in the meantime, the fully white leaves just go brown super quickly so just not worth holding on to :D
My melanochcrysum leafes keep on dying before completely unfurling D:
Mine too
🍀😸
Hate to be a Debby downer but the soletech lights are beautiful but what worries completely about this light is it’s NOT waterproof and it says on there website Do NOT GET WET so how safe is this in a cabinet in such a high humidity environment? That’s why the mother grow light will prolly beat them always until they go waterproof.
That is such a good point !! I didn't even think about that! Very much something to consider, especially for those with a humidifier inside their cabinets
@@sydneyplantguy thanks for replying back I looked at Soltech for a cabinet and just happen to notice that just hoping everyone would be aware of that. You seem to have high humidity if it’s making your glue fall off from the lights tho maybe you can do a test and see if they short out over time from the humidity getting inside the light over time. Cus I would like to see how much they can handle before it’s considered to high if bein put in a cabinet like that. I seen your mother light videos and I will say I absolutely love those lights I have 3 I’m was just really suprised you didn’t use those in your cabinets like most on the ikea cabinets but I see you are just trying new products n I understand.
soltech are the designer-made lights sold as the grove lights. It looks so good, but 3000 k 11 w is more or less 💩 for such money. Using 3000 k is very controversial decision. The best thing would be in between Mars Hydro and Soltech.
We need a hybrid!!
@@sydneyplantguy hybrids are fun 😆
Yes I am wondering the same. I hope I didn’t make a poor decision. I used a light meter and was shocked to see how weak the light was only a few inches away from my plants 😢
🫶
Very beautiful and so nice and thin! The way you put them in your cabinet gives it good even light that’s easy on the eye! 💚🌿🪴👌🏻 Natalie
Thanks :)
