      So far we don’t have an official price. The only rumours suggest it’s a *lot* more than the equivalent-performance Tesla Model 3.
      The interior looks a lot more luxurious, and for all the horrors of the haptic nonsense it supports Apple CarPlay, but then that suggests that this isn’t competing with the 3 directly at all, but the Ioniq 6.

      If Tesla ever got their fingers out of their butts and stopped going down the dull and drab, minimalistic interiors look, I'd go for a Model 3 any and every day. Their running gear is still the best.
      But as their interiors look awful and uninspiring, in my opinion, it has to be the VW.

    I like the look of this car, much better than the model 3. I'm presuming they'll have a high price for private buyers but do good deals for company car fleets. Looking forward to seeing this on the second hand market in 4-5 years. My main reticence at buying an EV at the moment is most have a range 2-300 miles. At 3-400 miles this should cover most journeys easily. Looks better quality than tesla but is more economical than bmw and mercedes.

  • @kiae-nirodiariesencore4270

    Interesting how the review makes a big thing of the wheelbase at 2990 mm was it? The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is not mentioned here as a competitor which is strange as that car is also a big hatchback with a long range and a slightly bigger 3000 mm wheelbase giving it even more interior space than the VW. Both the Hyundai and Kia EV6 are selling well in Europe, are in the price range of the VW and have won all kinds of awards and plaudits from reviewers and owners. Strange how only Tesla and other German brands were included in this comparison when those Korean brands are at least as good in quality and performance and in some aspects have better technology (the 800v charging system and V2L)

      I totally agree. It's very annoying. Whilst WLTP figures are an improvement on NEDC, they are not representative of real-world driving and should only be used as a rough guide. EV Database UK gives fairly accurate real-world estimates on their website, both as an all-round average and for different driving conditions. Of course, there are so many parameters involved that it really comes down to the driver.

    Wake me up when an EV can do 500 miles on a freezing cold winter's day with the heater going full blast and with the lights on. And when a full charge takes less than 5 minutes.

      You forgot to add "towing a caravan, with five people, luggage and a roof rack, uphill both there and back, without stopping and in under 6 hours".
      If you're going to play EV Bingo, at least try to nail all the "must have" points!

    Sorry but I’ve owned an iD4 and the infotainment system is truely terrible, their ability to fix issues with their recalls is laughable (still waiting for them to fix issues that have been announced months ago, and the EA supercharger network is, well, pathetically lacking. I’m buying a Model Y next.

    Why VW why?. Pointless big heavy EV that won't sell much or make VW a profit. New Model 3 will kill it on price and efficiency.

    VW is garbage on the software side, and unfortunately for the EV that is very important especially since they are removing physical controls.I don't appreciate Tesla neither with their lack of insulation and so many more issue. Mercedes and BMW usually suck at range and are super expensive. So it seems like today no automaker is able to build an over all good quality ev car that is not costing a fortune. Besides, the EV infrastructure is far far away from what it's needed today, how about when EV will scale for gen population ?!

  • @pgsahlman
    @pgsahlman Před rokem +1

    A Tesla killer? That's hilarious. As long as it'll take VW to roll out the ID7, Tesla will have advanced a couple of more generations, and augmented their already industry-leading profit margin per car, through advanced battery and manufacturing technology and process. That said - I hope VW succeeds, along with all the other legacy auto manufacturers who've committed to EV's versus ICE architecture.
