One of the greatest bands of all time. Every member is insanely talented. Tim Charles’ voice is gorgeous and Xenoyr’s is hauntingly brutal. And even though it’s extreme metal you can still hear the bass.
Between the strength and aggression, lies the poetry...these guys continue to give us light, dark, and everything in between. This IS beauty.

I never grow old of their songs. The complexity of each masterpiece keeps me intrigued. I'm glad this came into my life, brightens my day every time i listen to it. Definitely one of the best (if not THE best) metal bands i've come across over the years. Keep them coming Ne Obliviscaris!! ;)

I feel the same! I've been a metalhead since childhood and found myself growing bored of the songs I regularly listened to. They now felt too simple. I came across this band and it was EXACTLY what I needed!

@Sci-Fi Weekly Definitely "And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope" I don't know how they got a violin on top of a drum solo to sound so freaking good, but they did--which is why that song is my favourite from them. "Painters of the Tempest Pt II" "As Icicles Fall" "Upon The Tongue of Eloquence" (this one's a little hard to find, as it's on an unreleased EP, "Sarabande to Nihil"). Any NeO song's a good time. In the words of the late Gene Wilder via Willy Wonka: "Come with me and you'll be in a world of pure imagination..."
All of them. Listen from front to back each album and you won't ever feel like you need to skip any song for it all is genius.

It's one of those bands where they have so many good songs that it's hard to reccomend any one. No doubt you've heard it by now but Painters of the Tempest pt.2 is my favorite from this band personally.
Musically enormous...a lot of emotions ...culturally ahead of a million years'..mixing opeth with kansas is not for all...
Dopo il concerto di Pavia del 2018 ebbi conferma da Tim Charles di quanto apprezzava il violino di Jean Luc Ponty. La loro cultura musicale è ancora più vasta di quanto si possa immaginare...altrimenti non potrebbero concepire perle del genere

Really great, but it pains to say that this is a step down from the masterpieces that are Devour Me Colossus, Painters of The Tempest, Of Petrichor Weaves Black Noise and And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope...
Actually i consider this to be their best album followed by Citadel and then Portal of I
But they are all great
Sporebubu well, depends on taste, and actually, since I wrote that comment, I've actually taken a liking to this song. It's just that, compared to the other albums, Urn just doesen't have those small, different details that make it stand out. Portal had a certain (strong) feel to it, Citadel had another (still strong) feel to it, but Urn seems have ever so slightly given up on some of the uniqueness, making it a little blander. Either way, that's my opinion, and as you said, they're still all overall great.

I think they are more brutal in a very beautiful manner now. Yes, the very intricate level of details that they used to have has deceased a little bit but now they sound more mature with just perfect level of balance of everything.
I'm just happy we have such amazing art by these guys that we can even compare it to itself. Nobody else is like them!
Really cool song, but am I the only one that thinks blast beats aren't _that_ great? Don't get me wrong, in some riffs there's definitely something nice with having some bursts of blasting, but when theres too much its just a bit too "busy" for me

The singer voice isn't good for the album for me. The growler is so good that seems edited. About the instruments, i really just like the drumming ant the beggining of the sound.
But there is a truth. This is godly, but my ears aren't prepared.

I felt the same about the clean vocals when I first listened to it back then. It grew on me little by little. Great band.

I love this album as a whole, but I can’t help but feel the drums are too abrasive compared to their other work? Don’t get me wrong, I still love the drums here. But the bass kick blasts beating through, nearly endlessly, on this track is distracting. I enjoy a good blast beat, but whew boy.
The drums are very loud at times on this album, especially with my earbuds. Album is amazing, but the drum mix is pretty inconsistent.
