I was lucky to find this game at a long closed game shop, whomever worked there tried to hide it well. I made a restroom trip while there, and since the bathroom was behind the counter, and the owner knew me, he let me go. On my way out, I was able to peruse the games that were behind the others showcased in the glass case, and one shined out at me, Mr. Do SNES. Thankfully the game was priced at $7.99, the owner figured one of his employees had put it out of the sight of buyers, so that person could buy it. Needless to say, whichever employee hid it, was quite disappointed when they went back in, it was in my possession, and to this day still is.
@@rawmawAnd this lacks both. I'm sure it was fine in 1982, but in 1995 it was competing with Super Mario World, Super Metroid, and Donkey Kong Country. It could have been justified if they packed ten or so of these games on the cartridge, but by itself?
@@mitchells2003 it's a great game. just look at the rest of the comments, people love it. there's a reason that it's for some arcade enthusiasts deemed as the best arcade game ever. if you simply don't like, that's a bummer. but to deny its quality is just dumb and weird. are you also gonna take an issue with the NES to GBA ports?
@@mitchells2003This game was the reason to own a Colecovision, back in the day. The SNES release was a pleasant surprise for thousands of gamers as it surpasses the classic Colecovision version.
That’s the worst. One time it got stuck inside an apple when one of the dinosaurs pushed it towards the ball (it’s impressive how many gameplay mechanics this game crams into s simple premise)
Very different from the one I was raised on - my first Mr. Do was the Colecovision port and boy was it different - the chompers couldn't eat apples but they ate foliage and cherries. Background music and death theme were from the snowman version, and if you ate the treat while the alphamonster was over a letter that had already been killed, you would get the treat theme from the snowman version but the alphamonster wouldn't appear.
One would think that, with the power of the SNES, this game would have gotten the Super Mario All-Stars treatment with enhanced graphics and sound. Nope! It's just an arcade game from the early-80s ported to the SNES "as is."
Or if they didn't want to remake the games, they could have at least put several of them on the same cartridge, like with the Arcades Greatest Hits releases. But they were too lazy to even do that
I like how they just barely changed the Astro Boy theme that plays when you win an extra life so as to avoid copyright infringement (the original arcade had a more accurate rendition of the song)
While I love how accurate this port is to the arcade version, I feel like the diamond should have done more than give you a free game (of which you have an infinite number, by design). Maybe tack on some additional lives?
@@TheKayliedGamerChannel-CZcams There's a lot of platformers that aren't licensed, and the platformers from Japan that were based off licenses were pretty solid. this was a massive ripoff it released in 1996 more than a decade after the original arcade game. it costed $60 and only had the one game on it. with the arcades greatest hits ones there were multiple games on the same cart. even with the ms pacman port they added so much content that it was still a good purchase
I got the game about 15 years after it's release, a lucky $7.99 locally at a game shop. Online prices for it at the time were a bit inflated, even more so now. You won't be paying $60 for a copy these days, think higher. 😉

They made this in 95? That far along in the SNES lifespan? Can't imagine the thought process that led to "This will sell."
gameplay > graphics

I remember this. Always thought it was a Dig-Dug clone of sorts.
I believe mr do was in the arcade far before dig dug. Not 100% on that tho
It was DELIBERATELY modeled after Dig Dug, by order of the company president.
Both games came out the same year. Mr. Do is basically Dig Dug on an acid trip
I loved this game in arcades. Although, heaven help you if your ball got caught in a bounce loop.
That’s the worst. One time it got stuck inside an apple when one of the dinosaurs pushed it towards the ball (it’s impressive how many gameplay mechanics this game crams into s simple premise)
The music is the can-can. 🤣
Mr. Do? Loks like a different game of Dig Dug to me!!!
Dig Do?
Dig Don't?
@@pferreira1983 Dig Darn.
Mr Do got a few sequels, all completely different from one another, Dig Dug only got 1 sequel till he was shoehorned into the Mr Driller storyline.

Loved this game!

Love this game, often compared to Dig Dug but in my opinion is a much better game.
This Mr Do! game is from 1996, and the Super NES console is from 1991.
And the Mr. Do arcade is from 1982. So i do not know why anyone would purchase this
Pretty true to the arcade version!
A cute theme song. :)
Arcade perfect.
Looks it but isnt
@@terryc4787 it's better than nothing, right?
@@Smoothie_The_GamecatIt's better than the Colecovision version, which held the title for closest to the arcade, until 1995.
“Arcade perfect” isn’t a thing. 🙄
Perfecto dice 😂
Why they never ported this to New 3DS Virtual Console?....
Or the Switch?

This is an excellent home version. It's closest to the Arcade. One of the better knock-offs of ''PAC-MAN''.
Has anybody played this game with the Super Advantage controller?
3:44 El Chavo del 8.
I wish the arcade version was a part of Arcade Archives for console
shit i can still go with the theme song..
I've played this on Atari 2600, ColecoVision, Commodore 64, Atari XE & Gameboy, SNES Version is easily the best looking so far, Love It
The snes version sounds like the arcade version. Ms Pac-Man on the snes sounds like the arcade too.
The snes ms. pac-man is far better than this lazy release.
On the snes ms. pac-man they added a lot of new levels
I like how they just barely changed the Astro Boy theme that plays when you win an extra life so as to avoid copyright infringement (the original arcade had a more accurate rendition of the song)
So Funny The Músic xD

Why is this game ported to the SNES
i assume to make a quick buck. what mattered to them was money not the actual game quality
The 4-bit music of The Title Screen sounds like Hungarian Music! 🇭🇺
Someone should make a rom hack to replace Mr. Do with Pomni from TADC

This literally looks like a NES Game to me
Are you sure this is the SNES? Look more like NES.
It's on the SNES, I have a copy in my collection, pretty hard game to get for cheap. I was lucky, under $10 cart only years ago.
this wouldn't be possible on nes. by comparison even 8-bit arcade is superior to nes look at pac-man
More like Mr. Don't! *HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA cough*
LOL
Goodwill? More like BADWILL
Or BADWON’T!
this sh*t only used to come in 9 games in 1 in the Snes (as i recall)
It saw a standalone release, I managed to get a copy cheap years back, before the value shot up on it. Was a lucky find for $7.

Has anybody played this game with the Capcom Fighter Power Stick controller?
I doubt many people played this game at all because of the lack of content

You’re doing it wrong….
Loudest game on the SNES
Dig Dug meets Pac Man
Thats a SNES game? Looks like a freaken atari game XD lol Game itself looks fun, reminds me of dig dug, just doesnt look like a SNES game to me
It's an early 80's arcade game ported to the SNES without anything added to it, so hence why it has that look it does.
Yeah, most snes games are either rip off FZero and Zelda clones or lame ass licenced platformers lol
