I think they just ran out of time to finish the game. There are a lot more clues to it being a rush job than Krystal’s story being cut entirely. There is a strange mixture of both polish and jank throughout the game, sometimes even in the same scene. Shame we’ll never get to see all of the developer’s dreams brought to fruition.

I think it's amazing that not much has changed (besides the graphics, of course) this game is simply gorgeous for the Nintendo 64 standard, the gameplay is very well done and the graphics are exceptional for the platform, RARE really managed to push the console to the limit here, maybe even more than they did with Conker and Jet Set Gemini.
It is a pity that RARE did not follow its original idea, this game could have become the game that would close the Nintendo 64 cycle with a golden key (similar to Majora Mask and Conker Bad Fur Day), it could have become an excellent classic, but in the end it just became a average Star Fox game for the Game Cube that nobody cares about.

Even Fox's dialogues are almost the same with the same voiceclip, the decision to move the game to the Game Cube must have come very late in development. (One thing I noticed is that unlike Crystal, Fox doesn't have facial expressions, it could be that they put him at the last minute too).
This Build is very complete for a beta, but I still wonder if there is any build with Saber (the original fox of the game) playable out there, it's a shame that Miyamoto turned this game into a Star Fox, if he had left with the original idea of rare for the Nintendo 64 without a doubt would become a classic,

It felt very misleading on the game cover... you thought she would play a bigger role or be one of fox's sidekicks... But nope... Just a sex icon for fox and a damsel in distress for the player.
If they had given fox a proper introduction with Krystal... Had let both Fox and Krystal be playable with their own missions to complete or change the male fox that looks like fox mcloud (which started this whole thing.) Think that was the plan, but jump to new platform and Fox addition significantly changed things. Krystal was the most featured in old promotional art for the game on N64. I think you were supposed to jump between characters on your journey. Yea, found it on Unseen 64, " According to many, in the porting Rare dropped some of the most interesting features, so we may never know if the Nintendo 64 version was better. Certainly much has been changed in the porting process: the main character, Saber, became Fox Mc Cloud, Crystal’s role was heavily cut (she should have been a fully playable character) "

I like how in some spots you could have sworn it is a remaster, in others, you can tell that they're different games. Even in the same scene haha. Adventures kind of confused me with the Cloudrunner baby on Scales' ship. I always thought it was a "wow he's mean he kidnaps little babies", but in Planet it's made more clear.
Adventures would always be a soft spot to me and I still adore some aspects like the OST and graphics to bits. But I feel like I would have loved the original just as much. Would kill for a remake that blends the two games (basically playable Krystal)

If I recall correctly, the Earthwalker and Cloudrunner families were both instrumental in completing the game. It's pretty baffling why they didn't keep the baby Cloudrunner as a princess in the end because of that tbh

Instead of Krystal just being a damsel in distress, have her partner up with Fox to save the planet. Have Tricky and Kyte interact with each as rivals and begrudging friends. And give everyone unique abilities that help them solve different tasks; Fox with his blaster and advanced technology to deal with physical obstructions, Krystal with her staff and magic to deal with magical obstructions. And give Tricky and Kyte unique abilities as well. I honestly think Nintendo has the foundation to make a great StarFox game with an incredible story here.

It must hurt but the n64 came in a troubled time. Everyone imagined these kind of games on it but the capacity just wasnt enough and the ram was too small, with higher resoluted textures the cpu wasnt enough. it came had it 5 titles that could not be created on the psx and it just stayed alive because of its outstanding design. You see how the machine strugles to push those few polygons and you see how the next gen graphic carts just went beserk on the old machine. Light effects, look at the Fur and details like teeth, chip supported "motion effects" on the sail and tail. Shine effects on eyeballs and skin. The psx could run every kind of game because of the medium that cd was. Players had to bare the steps down on the graphical side but you still could release a version of every thinkable game on the machine until the ps2 took the torch. The N64 could be seen as a prototype of a technique that evolved so fast that it just wasnt strong enough by 97 anymore, first becausae of the medium second because of the hardware and a horrible sound chip. (sold my psx to have zelda and missed enemies on the map, ended up playing tony hawk and roll cage, driver and metal gear on a borrowed playstation)

Also, Krystal is a major character in DP instead of just the "girl you need to rescue". Swapping between the two chars would have been amazing. But the game turned out as it did, because they were really rushed by the companies, because at the time Rare was being bought by Microsoft and they were asked to rush the game. I’d love to play a Remake or Remastered version of this Star Fox game on the Switch in the future one of these days, especially when this unreleasedN64 title: Dinosaur Planet which later became Star Fox Adventures on the GameCube is the last Nintendo exclusive title to ever be made by Rare before Microsoft bought out the company in 2002 and then later put Rare through it’s own dark age in the late 2000’s and early 2010’s with changing the third Banjo-Kazooie title from a 3D platformer to a Vehicular Construction game, and Kinect Sports camera games. I mean sure Rare has now been living in a revival era since the Killer Instinct Seasonal Reboot, and they may have one new original title that is Sea of Thieves these days, and the Everwild title now currently in the works these days too of course. But the point is, I’d honestly would love to play this Zelda inspired Star Fox game a.k.a. Rare’s last Nintendo exclusive title before they became an Xbox owned game company since 2002, and I honestly wouldn’t mind at all if a remake or remaster of Star Fox Adventures on the Switch was made by a different game developer whether it be new or popular by experience one of these days too.

I think they simply didn't do it, because the original story writers wanted a move cohesive and understandable narrative for dinosaur planet, and of course not really use any SC-FI elements, so there wouldn't need to be a translator device.
And also, even if they wanted to do, it would practically be impossible to do on the N64 because of cartridge limitations on storing multiple voice lines for an english and dino language version on just one single cutscene. The GameCube can avoid this easily because it uses 1.5 GB mini discs that can store way more stuff.

It's a cartoon language, you POS. The "real" voice acting and dialogue sounds like crap anyway. And it makes one wonder if you ever heard a N64 game... They all had something like this, even the few from Rare which had a couple of voicelines. They make this as an hommage to the N64, and it fits, as its a very unreal world, with unreal characters, so they use "strange" languages, in part.

Also: don't make it like the things that are better and that I want it to be like...." Just too dumb to describe.
