  • Lots of kids paint. But 12-year-old Aelita Andre is an established artist known for her abstract paintings inspired by everything from nature to music. Andre, who is from Melbourne, Australia, was just 2 years old when she had her first gallery exhibit. Since then, the painter’s work has been exhibited in cities around the world, including London, Hong Kong and New York City. She has sold paintings for as much as $30,000. Some people have called her a young Jackson Pollock. But Andre isn’t interested in being compared to other artists. She creating her own style.

I’m happy for her, but in some ways it makes me upset. There are so many fantastic artists out there which go unnoticed, despite having some breathtaking paintings that takes countless hours, which are creative and innovative. I really wish those artists one day could get the same amount of attention as this young girl has. They deserve so much more :(

I'm 12. You need to look at it threw 12-year-olds eyes. No. 4-year-olds eyes. She has somehow been able to keep the imagination that she had as a very young child. The thing is, her paintings mean a lot more than just some paint thrown on a canvas. Paintings she has created give me motivation. It inspires me to become a better person. In her paintings, I can see rivers, and fires working together. That is just one example. You have to think. Do water and Fire typically get along? No. But in her universe, they do. Every child has a universe. They may outgrow it. For me, it is taking a long time. As well as her. And that is a good thing. But, in her universe, everyone gets along. I'm sure that is for most children's universes. (Don't hide the world from young children, they are very good at eavesdropping and know probably know more than you think.) I can see why you think it is just paint splashed on a canvas, but you have to look closer, through a young child's eyes. Look at everything through a child's eyes. What do you see? The world as it is? or do you see a magical world? I hope you see a magical world. Pass this along, please. Especially young children. They will outgrow it, and when they do, it's too late.

if your goal is fame, take marketing, sales and management classes, not art classes.
art is what you put out there, not what you yourself or other people see. if you put a lifes dedication into perfecting something, but a childs painting is trumping you, that might be because people, you yoursef and so many wish to be as free in what we do as this girl is. and that is a spirit of time and context.

In my humble opinion I think that any serious artist must study art history and artworks and learn foundational skills and knowledge wether it may be self-taught or university taught. Only then when you know what was, are, and can be art, is when the Artist, can make deconstructed, or expressionist, or dadaist art that is VALID as fine arts and has value to me personally, and should be considered as such by the masses and the art world to have intrinsic value and translate to monetary and historical significance.
Considering aforementioned, the “art” this 12 year old person is making is nothing more than doodles of a privileged child whose parents are able to provide her expensive archival quality materials such as a workspace, canvas, paints, brushes, etc.. that VALID artist use to make fine art.

The absurdity of watching painstakingly crafted works that were meant to create the art of music, (an actual art, too) be Frankensteined into such abominations. And also, what the painting that she did when she was a baby convey?? And also it’s just disappointing how they featured somebody like her rather than people who developed their style for years?? To be honest though, she still have time to improve, maybe she should try to draw realism or maybe cartoons. When I see her art I don’t see any personality or meaning of it unless it’s just paint being splashed all over the place.

i guess you are a useless artist after all if you do not see the inherent worth in abstract painting. it's an entire field, you can't just plaster paint everywhere and call it a day. whatever form of art is a SKILL, and believe it or not critics, painters and those in touch with the art will feel if your painting is soulless and you just poured some paint. does that mean you're better than jackson pollock and andy goldsworthy because their work looks like something anyone can do and "worthless" because they didn't work as hard as you? what a load of crap. no art is ever easy, NO ART. she has spent ten years and will spend more years perfecting her craft, and if people see her work as something important and you don't that's on you. it doesn't matter whether you're michelangelo reborn or you're a fanartist, what matters is that it came from YOU and no one else. only you have that unique vision and perspective, therefore it has value. i can go on and throw art theories all day as this isn't a new discussion, but i suggest you stop invalidating other people's work simply for your own ego. you're an artist yourself, you should know better than that. i do not mean to berate you or put you down, just offering some enlightenment.

Oh yeah yeah Sub2pewds it’s what inspired her and her creative thought proses of bringing it into the world that creates the art has much more worth. There’s a reason why critiques exist, if they see a painting or art form worth noticing and in this case abstract painting, then it will be recognized. Some artists work before hand in the old times is much” more simpler than abstract art practically just draw a blank canvas and it was taken in as art in the public, but that was in the old times. Now many artists have gone modern such as painting in their own styles, do digital art or anything else. Although some still paint as the artists in the old times draw, that’s what some critiques look for in a modern world. Art has it’s own evolution proven by how Pollock has create an artwork and has been reintroduced in a fresh new way by this 12 year old. And i think that’s what the critiques are looking for. That’s why the artists that works hard in every single detail in making art has a lack of recognition (maybe it lacks certain style or something from the critiques point of view). And i’m not saying all critiques are like this, just some, and this is just my opinion don’t give me flames just because of if.

I think we are all in agreement this child's art success has been manufactured by her well connected and affluent parents. I don't question her talent. There are thousands of very talented artistic children but only one who have parents motivated to ensure their daughters success in the art world. And frankly when dealing in contemporary art, it has a lot to do with who you know and what they are willing to pay for the art. It makes me think maybe regular artist should promote their art as the work of a child and maybe they will get more media pick-up from it!

As I'm watching this, it makes me kind of mad. Imagine how much money she has invested just paint cans, and violins she won't use at all when she literally makes $35k per painting. Honestly, critics nowadays will pay for anything. If they could get a hold of Picasso's sweat, or da Vinci's snot, you know where their money is going to. But the fact she literally splashes paint on a canvas, ruin violins to put on the painting, and has the audacity to call it her "talent". I get she painted since she was 9 months old, but I feel like at some point, she's going to realize that she wasted SO much materials just for a painting that looks like a picture from a mom's fridge that her 4 year old made of a bear that looks like a giant turd. She is wasting violins, which by the way, if you don't play an instrument like I do, but my brother was in orchestra and played violin for 2 years, violins cost at least $200 or even more. She blows her money on resources for just splatters and ruined instruments. I think she will learn how to draw characters or even landscapes instead of splashing paint on a canvas, going to another country, doing the show, and calling it a day. Soon enough, she will make a "painting" that looks similar to another painting she recently made and she won't make profit. If she doesn't take art school, and that happens, she's done. Her fame will die out. Her resources will be overstocked and she will waste money over paintings that look the same. Sorry for this long-ass comment, its just that this made think about prices and how much paint is being wasted. Likes are not needed, considering you probably read this whole comment, or not, idc, and I wasted your time. Agree, disagree, idc.

Cause it is getting very fucking annoying. Like, we get it. More artists out there deserve their money and fame, but honestly if the rich people want to buy crap like that then let them have it. I also hope they are referring to traditional art, cause digital art is just a printed picture so it should be less of a value. And they are not referring to anime and fanart, cause no one is going to buy that and hang it unless you're a rich anime fan.

Someone who paints for passion is someone who paints for passion whether the work they create "looks like something" or it doesn't. What I find sad is that people like you degrade genuine expression and self exploration.

@@pineapplepizzadrip7587 but its is. The same way there can be good art, there can be bad art. Art is art, just doesn't mean "liked by everyone art" Name a movie you think is art, but didn't become outrageously popular, now lets look at the recent Marvel movies, art yeah, but is marvels art really "that good?" or does it just seem like "good art" cuz everyone has seen it? Of course many would say "duh of course its good art" but I don't think its good art at all, its rather repetitive, they reuse frames, shots, and angles, and position of characters all the same.
