We caught up with August Burns Red in our new episode of Ruined Music to see which records they just can't listen to anymore. With a dead dog and a breakup, Jake Luhrs and JB Brubaker won't be listening to these two records anytime soon...

If a dog is dangerous (i.e. biting a child etc), they have no choice but putting the dog down. I love animals and think it's terrible, but sadly that's what happens. If a dog attacks a kid and the child is killed due to the injuries... P.S I'm a dog owner myself.

I agree with Jake about the death of a dog. When my last dog died back in 2015, I was heartbroken. I couldn't go to school, work, nothing. I had known that dog for the majority of my life, and it was hard on the family. When I was able to go back to living life, I still was pretty heartbroken. On the ocassion, I would cry at school about her, and people just told me "Dude, it's just a dog. Get over it." Sure, it was a dog, but a dog or pet of any kind is still a member of the family.

I had the same experience once. We got a dog when I had turned 1 and he was my best friend up until I turned 13. So We had him for 12 years, and someone told me to get over it. It's a little hard to get over someone or something you had in your life for over a decade and suddenly they're gone.
we got a cat when i was around 10 and 12.5 years later we had to put him down a couple months ago due to cancer. when you grow up through all those teenage years of turmoil with little friends but your animal brother who loves you unconditionally, you become more than just owner and pet

I know how jake feels ..I went on vacation with family at like 16 to come back home to find my dog passed away in the back yard ..shit hit me in the feels..she was my best friend and I was miserable for a few months ..
When you truly love an animal and form a real connection, it can be like losing a brother or sister. Except dogs truly love unconditionally, unlike people. My dog I have had for 13 years and she is very old for her breed and I seriously don't know how I'm going to handle her death. She is everything to me. She was all I had through the worst points in my life and is my best friend. I would cut my life in half to keep her alive for 10 more years.

ABR is the most amazing band. Hearing about the dog Maddy being put to sleep for biting a grown man's dog made me so sad tho. I totally get it dude. My ex gf took my dog Charlie away from me and I loved that dog so much... I'm still trying to get over it 7 years later lol

The intro to the departure by la dispute (very first song on wildlife album) sounds exactly like the intro to ghost if you pay attention. Maybe thats what inspired the song

A shit ex of mine was obsessed with Bowie, specifically Ziggy Statdust. We really bonded over it but since she listened to it so much I got burnt out by it and since we broke I have not been willing to listen to it again. Or any Bowie besides Blackstar tbh.
Same for me with certain songs man. I hear these specific songs and it feels like something yanks my heart through my stomach. Deleting hundreds of songs off Spotify was the equivalent of deleting hundreds of pictures.

This is understandable since music expresses more than words and convey feelings, because of this I find it very personal that some artist abuse music or use dark lyrics as a coping mechanism. All in all music is part of life and a gift of God

1. my first puppy bites me! because I came trying to play when it was biting a bone! no one told me animals do not like to play when they are eating! we did not kill the puppy because of that Jake! 2. once I also had a terrible experience and "I'm in love with my car" by Queen was coming out loud from the speakers of my hi-fi when it happened. for like 20 years I was unable to listen to that song. but guess what, I just listened to it the other day, I was like " what if?...." and I enjoyed it a lot! it a great rock song....

Never ever say "Dude, it's just a dog." Dogs aren't "just", but people who never had such a friend, won't understand...I totally can feel Jake there...And puppies don't bite they are just playing...this dude probably got panic and moved his hand away and cut himself at the teeth of the puppy, which happend to me once with our dog when we were playing...it's unfortunate, but it's not a bite...the dog didn't intentional bite the dude he more likely just paniced...that story made me sad and angry the same time, the puppy should have lived!
