Anything can happen to you next month, you can even loose your job, so what are you going to do. Let's say God forbid something bad happen to you, can you afford to live comfortably without relying on anyone to help you financially. tequilagirl83 exactly why majority of America fell into bankruptcy, foreclosed homes, unwanted/unneeded credit card debt to make ends meet. The house is actually the one thing to make sure you can buy twice, that’s why people save up for mortgages. Otherwise if you are in middle class buying a home bc you can only afford it once more than likely you will struggle severely to make ends meet. That saying is actually most commonly said by millionaires / people who have major money.

      Let me tell you something girl. You have just uncovered the truth. But sadly not everyone thinks like that. Not everything that shines is gold so what I mean by that is really focus on what you need rather than superficial stuff that will gratificate you temporarily but in the long term it will make you suffer. So be wise and spend life learning and knowing what's best for you in the long term. The system is built to make you spend ridiculous amounts of money so that the rich get richer and the poor gets poorer. But the wise folks make it through it because you can. It just takes self discipline

    • @aspirehigher6368
      @aspirehigher6368 Před 4 lety +7

      It really depends on who you had around you. Schools absolutely didnt teach it and not only that but some of the ways we even handle money today is far different than how it was when I was coming up so they wouldn't even know how to teach it yet even if they intended to. However, because I watched my parents I learned many good habits from one of them and saw many bad habits with the other one and I adopted the good and avoided the bad. But still struggled, for example, I too thought it was best to just not get a credit card but I had no idea how they work or what credit even meant and how having one could help me IF I USED IT RESPONSIBLY and paid it all the way off all the time because the longer you have a card and keep it in good standing, the higher your credit score rises so the only way it'd be a problem is if I wasnt paying my bills but without it no matter how many bills I'd pay it wouldn't increase my credit. I'd just seen so much debt with some people that I wanted to avoid every form of credit and loans but in reality, even loans can boost your credit if you actually pay them off correctly and I just never knew any of that. Im glad I do today. I'm 30 and got my 1st card at almost 27 yrs old. I have 2 now. Still avoiding loans because of their interest but I am no longer afraid of it how I used to be. Times are changing in some schools thankfully because one of my nieces is even learning about the stock market.

      Doesn't matter what your individual circumstances are, the principles are the same. You should be able to factor in your expenses, the things you want vs need, and then save the rest. And if you can't afford much after your overhead expenses, drop the "wants" down until you get a handle on it.
      For me, my goal overhead/desires/savings equation is 75/5/20 for the rest of the year. I've been spending money too many wants. 😔

Depends on how long you live. It's not what you made how much did you save to enjoy your LIFE. Not to be HOMELESS or living somewhere you don't. Money makes those choices. Everyone should save so, they don't have depend on others. The gifts God bless you with. Use them. John 3:16. It is fear that one day we all answer to the living GOD what did you do with your LIFE.
