- British Army training film explaining the interplay between armor and mechanized forces in a reconnaissance role. Good film footage of Her Majesty's armed forces during the Cold War.
- Krátké a kreslené filmy
The time between 1979 and now is longer than 1979 and 1939.
Omg I’m old 🤣
That certainly makes you think.
Wow didn't think of it that way
Cheers mate.😮
Giving O Group location over the air is mad . The Tank Unit is Ajax Squadron of 2nd Royal Tank Regiment (actually a Battalion) The Sgt at 4:53 is Sgt Johnny Rose, an ex boy soldier from the Junior Leaders Regiment. He and I both did the All Arms pre parachute selection course and for me he was the motivation helped me to complete. He was incredibly fit (well we all were but he was super fit) and went on shortly after this film was made, to serve with special forces.
he might not want the world to know that last bit, not all of them want it known
Not sure when this film was made certainly before 1979 , mark 2 Chieftains and my old tank 11A.
I was a junior leader at shornclife Folkestone in89/90 Cheshire regiment
Somebody always recognises somebody in these videos. I loves a bit of that.
All best, Andy
I could watch these documentaries for days, always so much knowledge and wisdom to gain from every individual person of the military.
I joined in 1975. Seeing some of these pre DPM combats and wooden stocked SLR’s lead me to believe this film is way earlier than ‘79. We all had Bakelite furniture on our weapons in ‘75……
Catterick Garrison in February is not a very pleasant place to be and that's all that I have to say about this video apart from the whole thing is making me feel extremely old. I was in 3RTR when this incredibly old fashioned film was made. I can remember watching these films during training including one called "Theater of War" if my memory is correct. All these videos were classified at the time
This is a great upload! I learned a lot about old tactics, which is sort of a hobby of mine. Thank you so very much.
Educational as always. Thank you.
Yeah, l remember doing this, charging around Soltau training area, it was great.
Did you RV with Wolfgang and his Blue Mercedes "Imbis Wagen"?
Thanks again Sir 👍
I was 13 years-old in 1979 and had no idea that five years later I would start a 30 year US military career.
The Chinagraph pencil seen in the beginning were a vital tool. I still have a black, green and two red ones although the “leads” are dry and hard now…..
Staying awake whilst watching these films was realy hard, and woe betide you if you did nodd off lol.
Most wonderful Video about Troop-Platoon Tactics Training which labelled to Practical basic training of Successful Defensive-Draw -offensive mobilizing of Tactical platoon Troops of British Military Doctrine ....always (Mike Guardia )are sharing wonderful videos
To who doesn't know what is Charlie Charlie Tango 1 is, it's all Tango call signs...
oooh ahhhh a 432 30! Must be the one that was kept in Salisbury plain. I think the rest went to Berlin. (9:58)
Armoured not very cammed up- enemy snipers would pick off the Lt. fast with his shiny shoulder pips , bright white face , reflective binoculars and glass on the vehicles
FV432s still going in 2024. Interesting to see not everyone in this footage had DPM. Was this the changeover period? I thought DMP was universal by 79.
when we had an army and sufficient tanks !
'Mr Bradshaw, will you stand up please?'
Was the captain in Bad Lads Army?
The animation at approx 07:00 is fascinating> I wonder what techiniques were used to make it.
Looks like stop frame animation (also called stop motion) to me.
@@numberstation Yeah me too (I wonder if they had a model shop that built the tank models from scratch or from commercial kits?) but also the title cards look superimposed with some kind of CGI also. It looks really cool and super clear anyway.
I’m guessing they’re commercial kits, back then I remember Chieftains being available in 1/35 by Tamiya, 1/72 by Airfix and something like 1/48 by Bandai. The film quality (and my old eyes!) makes it a bit difficult to see clearly. It’d be interesting to see some Warsaw Pact instructional videos of the time, I think.
Shouldn't wear plastic scrim on helmet because if it catches fire it'll mean your face neck chest and back will be burned not nice.
It's also noisy and it shines when it's wet
*Squire anyone? 🤩
The penetrator A plastic swimming tank
old timer joke/reference: this video is a good chance to practice tracking skills
Wha

@@dobiem1 You don't say....
Hello comba't Americans
they're.. Let go
Shame the ira destoryed them
Yeah. Because the IRA are going strong and the British Army have ceased to exist. Idiot.
They really didn’t.
The ira was infiltrated from the top down by the 90s
How the BA were used as police men in NI when it wasnt there job the IRA killed more off juty than on and the lost 700 men counting UDR so really in war its not lot over 30 years of patrols there was more civilians killed than military
.
lol yeah because the paddies went up against mech infantry with armour support, oh right they didn't
Отмечу хорошую маскировку, дисциплину и выверенные действия! 👍 Но связь кажется может подвести, связь должна быть надёжной и комбинированной и больше авиации либо БПЛА
