when leta said "i love you", it was meant for newt. thats obvious. to me, she chose newt's brother cause he was the closest thing to newt and when she saw him again, that was it. she was caught in the middle but you can clearly see she loved him. "newt, youre too good.. you never met a monster you couldnt love". newt was the one who really had her heart and best interests as priority

i’ve watched the movie 4 times in the past 2 days and i’ve finally deduced that it’s always been a push & pull thing between the two of them. there’s clearly been more than friendship on both their minds since their hogwarts days, but the pair has since moved on following their fallout (when newt took the blame for leta). however, it’s evident that newt never lost feelings for her, hence the photograph of her he kept in his case all those years. leta, at this point, had supposedly fallen in love & got engaged to theseus, but when the rumors regarding corvus started circulating again, it stirred up the feelings of being an outcast, something she wasn’t unfamiliar with after her unhappy hogwarts days- to which she found solidarity in the unwavering and unconditional loyalty newt had shown her all those years. she cares about theseus enough but newt will always be her first & last love.
For me that last I love u was for Newt since the first time I saw the movie was pretty clear for me

The words "I love you" were meant for Newt. They were both outcasts who found support in each other and in animals. Only Newt remained the same eccentric "loser" and devoted himself to his beloved work, and Lita tried to become worthy of her kind, and that is why she chose Theseus. Too bad we won't see her happy again. She died proudly, and saved two people dear to her.
@@isabellapierre5977 I agree. But "I love you" could be said as an expression of gratitude. She loved Theseus as a man, and Newt more as a friend or long-time support. In any case, no one was deprived.
I ship her with Theseus but it's obvious she loved them both. Newt and Leta was a young love (the first one for both of them) but Theseus was the one who knew the truth about Leta's past, he cared about her and she trusted him. I am sure she loved him and the last "I love you" was for both brothers. But Newt's biggest love wasn't Leta (my opinion) - it was Tina. He feels bad when she wasn't around him, he was searching for her and do anything to help her.
I feel so bad that Leta died (I still didn't watch 3rd part) cause I really wanted to see a happy ending for her and Theseus/Tina and Newt. It would be perfect ending for all of them.
Umm.. I just don't understand why those trees simbolizing something romantic for slytherin's love or just me thinking like this(?). I mean, saverus snape and lily didn't end up together, same thing like newt and leta.. it's just sad 'cause slytherin deserves love too 😥

When leta said i love you, the camera cuts to newt, then his brother. Isn't it obvious... Leta had always loved newt from the beginning and what she had with theseus will never replace the love she had for newt

But she was actually the opposite of a taker. I mean, the woman sacrificed herself for both brothers how much more can you give? Queenie was full of it! Nice girl who meant well but was naive and knew little of how hard life could be. There was a lot she didn't understand and she knew nothing of Leta's past traumas.

I feel like Newt was able to move on from the fact that he loved Leta (which is obvious) but Leta could never move on from her love for him. At least not before she died. Which she shouldn’t have, she deserved to be happy as well.

Leta Lestrange you will always have a place in the heart of New, A school sweetheart, let's admit that they had a "teenage love" but you have to know and admit that staying there with Tina Goldstein was the best since it is part of growing up, I mean when you are young you fall in love with a woman like Leta Lestrange, a sweetheart of years and a place in New's heart, but with maturity you fall in love with someone like Tina ... apart from the fact that New and Tina share a caring and protective nature. :v

This vedio is warm, but i think the relationship between them might have never entered an edge called love or teenage love, because they united for the similarity that they were both hated by others, but not the same hobby or love(and i think it maybe the reason how Quennie remarked) they were more like good friends. Leta needs Newt for his kindness, Newt needs Leta for her courage against the other children.....Btw the actors thought the characters were not lovers, and obviously they had too many differences compared with Newtina and Thsewtleta.

I'm not so sure on the part newt and leta parted ways after hogwarts, I wish they could just slid it in the movie cus honestly Leta's character is so complex not to mention she's just a new face and captured all hearts of the viewers, but my perception maybe Newt must've learned that his brother was into Leta and afraid to brake all friendship and his relationship to his brother so he chose to give way and let go.
