I think they did a great job with the budget that they had. They used tricks to make the house look as spacious and warm as possible. The railings are seen in other modern homes and I think they work fine here as well. They wisely spent a good chunk of the budget on a nice kitchen and family dining area. Those were the couple's priorities. Nice work.
Beautiful. The only comment is the cabinet they should have turn upside down before adding the shelving to allow the door to open right to left which would open it into the kitchen for ease of access.

Very nice reform for this young couple. It reflects sparkles of the couple culture and has a lot of caracter. The living dining space is just awesome. Bravo!😊

Amazing transformation love the family dining room and kitchen. And love the wonderfull round Lamp in the hallway.. But sorry, not the railing.
Should have kept the funky railing for sure!

I like the look of the staircase railings, but I am wondering if it would be safe for future children. Horrible thought - but could a child get his/her head caught in those wire spindles?

It was nice except painting the formal room built ins in s a mistake IMO. It would be better to match the formality of the room and the piano. Enjoyed the new family room.

The first thing that needs to go is the new railings. This couple wants to have children and those stretched wire railings are dangerous for kids.

Normally I like what these guys do, but I’m not loving this one. Those paint colors are way too dark, and what happened to the cool chandelier from the entryway? Everybody said they were going to keep it, then snip, snip, gone. Also not a fan of what they did to the iron railings. Steel cable, really? Swing and a miss. 😕
I have to be honest...I 100% agree with you. I was a little disappointed with this one.
I hate the railings too! It's a great way for a small child to get their head stuck in that and basically hang themselves. People seriously don't think about these things.
I thought the old railing was fine.
This cut of the episode doesn't show that Nate & Jeremiah gave them a sneak & they reexamined things they originally wanted to keep and the couple decided to remove the chandelier since it didn't go with the house, and the railing 🤷🏿♀️

Idk....it maybe just me but I didn't like....anything😅, I was expecting something modern but it was really much more "formal" and the colours looked like the 2000...it was popular here in Europe but not anymore! The railing is also quite old.....the kitchen looked more....cold, it wasn't modern or inviting just like an amateur kitchen which was a surprise from my favorite designers!!!!

I'd keep the cabinetry and have them refinished or painted over. You'll never find quality like that again.
The glass display for spices seemed like a cool concept, but it was actually impractical for doing actual cooking.

Sad…I wish they wouldn’t have painted the down stairs wood built in shelving, did not like what they did with the railing and wish they would have kept the light in the foyer. Overall I found it “meh”.

That foyer color is hideous...yuck! And why is a couch in front of that wall unit/bookcase?🤷 That home design is a NOPE for me. I hope the homeowners like it though.😊

So, they were right. They're tamping down what made HGTV interesting to make everyone the SAME. Yuck.
I would have refinished all the original wood cabinets and paneling. Assuming they were sound.
Their antiques are WAY overpriced, btw. 12k for a cabinet?? Are they INSANE, or just stupid?
