  • PART 3 .
In this video, I try to install the cylinder head.
I had to put some tie rods on the bolts because I replaced 6 out of a total of 10. During the very complicated drilling phase, some bolts are not perfectly centered, so they have been aligned with steel tie rods. This was necessary to allow the installation of the gasket, without this system it would not have been possible to install it.

I wish you all the best, especially because I own the same model, but I could not imagine, that the M16 bolts will work for a long time. The recommended torque for M16 8.8 bolts is approximately 230 Nm, but the requiered torque for these engine is 330 Nm. I hope, I'm wrong, because it was a lot of work, that you have done......

      Hello thanks for the answer.
Yes you are right it was a very difficult and problematic repair.
The threaded rods I used are really very strong ...
The cylinder head with the new bolts were tightened to 320nm without problems. Now, I've been using the crawler loader for about 3 weeks. Your intuition is right, HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?

If you have to do this type of job alone next time use a winch or block and tackle between the head and hoist (JCB) then when you have it nearly in place you can lower it by hand and place it better!

How did you remove the broken studs? Did you drill and re-tap? I have the same fiat engine with this problem.

      Hi .
      It was a huge job.
I tried to mill the split spike at the bottom of the monoblock.
Then very patiently I drilled the old bolts with a smaller diameter. The original diameter is 18 mm. I drilled with a 14 mm tip to insert 16 mm threaded rods. You must use threaded bars of 8.8 steel or in any case steel with a strong hold.
I advise you to use a magnetized drill, with extensions, because in total they are about 30 cm deep.
I don't recommend that you remove the old threaded / stuck bolt, because they don't come off in any way, you just waste time.
The only way is to drill and insert new threaded bolts.

@@thecatSimo Thanks for the advice. I have a magnetic base drill I will do as you have suggested.

    Come è finita ? Sei riuscito a rimontare e a fare funzionare la fl8?

Ciao Piter. L'abbiamo riparata con tantissimo lavoro. L'ho data via ad un ragazzo. Non ho idea se stia ancora funzionando. Ti assicuro che è stata molto problematica 😏

@@thecatSimo ti credo! Ne ho avuta una anche io più vecchia della tua. Faceva il suo lavoro ma se stava ferma tanto si bloccavano in continuazione le frizioni di sterzo.
