- In this episode of The Franchise presented by GEHA the Chiefs get into the giving spirit by participating in a Thanksgiving food drive. Trey Smith and Justin Reid hand out turkeys as the Chiefs prepared to play the Eagles. Then, in a Monday Night Showdown, brothers Travis and Jason Kelce clash in a Super Bowl LVII rematch. Andy Reid’s Chiefs fall short against the Eagles in a soaked GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Long snapper James Winchester goes out to the country on a duck hunting adventure, accompanied by his son and fellow friend. Coming off their third loss of the season, Patrick Mahomes and the red and gold look to get back on track against the Raiders. Amid a two touchdown performance from Isiah Pacheco, the Chiefs make a resounding 14-point comeback in a convincing win in Las Vegas. Andy Reid further etches his name into NFL lore by becoming the winningest head coach in Kansas City Chiefs history. The feat makes him the only coach in NFL history to be the winningest coach for two separate NFL franchises. The Chiefs’ assistant coaches reflect on what it’s like to coach under Andy Reid.

What this program does best is show the franchise outside of the facilities or Arrowhead. I think people sometimes forget that they have lives outside of their profession. That's why the Chiefs are one of the best franchises in the league.

The ending made me tear up! First off you can see the appreciation for Coach Reid in Clark’ Hunts eyes! We are so lucky to have him and PM15 and happy I’m living in this Chiefs era/moment winning Super Bowls and not the losing!
Honestly, there were so many years where it felt like this kind of success was never gonna happen. But once Andy got here and the franchise started building the right way I KNEW, 100%, that this was only a matter of time.
The team started focusing on fundamentals, we went from one of the most penalized teams in the league to the absolute least year after year (unfortunately we're not there now 😑.) I remember trading Marcus Peters to the Rams, who was seemingly the very next up and coming team. But he's such a niche player, who's good at picking the ball and not so good at everything else. They got a player they didn't know how to use for like all of their picks over the next 4 seasons. That one trade really changed the entire landscape of the league and when it happened I knew we'd be in the Super Bowl within the next few seasons
I admit I got a bit emotionally myself when I thought I heard Clark’s voice waver a bit when he said Coach Reid had surpassed Hank Schram’s record.
No matter how much money you have or don’t have, there is something very powerful about realizing that you’ve just experienced something that your own dad would have been impressed with-but is no longer here to see. 💛
So glad to hear that Spags is happy with working with Reid and willing to keep on coming back

Another stellar outing by The Franchise. Not only their coverage of the games and the preparation for them, but the human side as well. It's truly special to watch the Chiefs' journey unfold through the lens of this group of talented filmmakers.
How cool was it to see that boy with his dad the big NFL player being a dad taking him hunting. I miss my dad but he took me hunting and fishing and some of the best times of my life. Just father and son time.

The walk down the tunnel vs the raiders game gave me goosebumps..everyone locks in when Mahomes speaks.
That sequence from 20:30 to the national anthem gave me chills and is my motivation as a fan today when they play in New England. LFG Chiefs!

I stood in front of the television during Superbowl IV.
I cheered from behind the beams at Municipal's cheap seats and I've screamed from right behind the bench at Arrowhead on Monday Night.
I've snuck into the stadium and I've been thrown out of the parking lot.
I've gotten autographs and cardiographs because my being a fan of this team.

I loved the segment on James Winchester and his son. It reminded me of my childhood and spending time with my father in a duck blind, freezing but too proud to say it out loud. While I'm a vegetarian now, I appreciate those memories and that there are people still hunting today. My father would have been happy to see that it is being passed on to a new generation. Thanks for a lovely peek into both Americana and to our great long snapper.

I realize the team exists outside the stadium. I'm happy that the guys all seem to have happy lives beyond football, and they show their charitable sides, which is great! I really wish they would focus more on actual football, though. They wasted over 10 minutes showing 3 guys sitting in a duck blind... Again, it's a great program, but do shows like this in the off-season, please.

I'll give you an example of what I'm talking about, maybe it will illuminate some of those dark, unused recesses inside that little walnut in your head.
Let's say I'm crazy about Ferraris, I can't get enough of Ferraris. Let's hypothesize that there is a documentary show on Ferraris, equivalent of "The Franchise," but centered on Ferraris. They wouldn't make a show showing what the guy who makes the door handles does when he isn't working on Ferraris. No one cares, except maybe the door-handle-guy's family.
Do you get it?
Now go find another topic to instill your great wisdom upon, as you obviously have such a great grasp of as it pertains to what certain shows mean to each individual person who views them. You know, since you're the expert.

Winchester was a UDFA that was picked up by Philly originally, but has spent the last 9 years as a chief. He has played in this team through some very, very bad years and has now been part of this stretch of success. He is tied with Kelce for most franchise postseason appearances. So that’s why he is highlighted this episode.
I understand you want more football content, but that’s why we have press conferences, under the helmet, DTK, and all sorts of other content. This series is basically a recap of games, some minor behind the scenes we didn’t see, and small windows into players personal lives to highlight them. When I want football analysis, I am going to get that from KCSN, RGR, and the Chief in the North Newsletter other avenues. None of them get access to these guys’ real lives like this series does. So I’m kinda the opposite; I would go as far to say that I could do with less game recaps/highlights and would like to see more behind the scenes and personal stories because that gives us an even greater understanding of what makes these players so special and what they are playing for. But again, I get it, if you want more football, this is not gonna be the place to look.
